Title: How would you play this hand?
Description: Fun Survey

You start.

Hand:

1. Cyber Dragon
2. Apprentice Magician
3. Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive
4. Torrential Tribute
5. Gravekeeper's Spy
6. Sakuretsu Armor

Dark Evangel - January 4, 2007 05:19 AM (GMT)
1. Wonder what I was smoking to put Apprentice, Dekoichi, and Spy in the same deck.
2. Set Apprentice
3. Set Sakuretsu
4. End

Not the best move for this meta but explain.

Oh btw, it's obviously some sort of a monarch deck.

Silly me, I forgot that this is supposed to be the TCG format. I was too used to thinking my opponent has Gors in hand, summoning Airman in the first turn, playing Golden Chest, etc. After all, having a set old vindictive is fun when you attack an empty field.

=\.

Lord_of_Thunder - January 10, 2007 01:11 PM (GMT)
It depends, whose making the forst move?

Set Dekoichi and set Sak and end turn.

By the way, what would you do Bishop?

-Bishop- - January 25, 2007 03:51 AM (GMT)
Spy + Armor or TT and end.

Drizzt Do'Urden - January 30, 2007 04:05 AM (GMT)
I don't agree since you have a Cyber in hand but it is more of a personal preferance anyway.

Do you mind if I ask you where you live and if you are on any yugioh team?

-Bishop- - February 5, 2007 12:22 AM (GMT)
Spy and Armor because of Gadgets.

Drizzt Do'Urden - February 5, 2007 03:15 AM (GMT)
You made the thread before Gadgets were released....

Yes I'd say it is a good play now with Gadgets though.

-Bishop- - February 5, 2007 03:35 AM (GMT)
Gadgets only makes my move better.

Consider:

against Breaker lucksack

Dekoichi: -2 Field Pressence. +1 Hand (?)
Spy: -1 Field Pressence. +1 Field.

*Both cases are -1s

Verdict: Spy is better...

against Cyber Dragon. Sakuretsu Armor goes through. Opponent than sets a FD.

Dekoichi: Next turn +1 hand
Spy: Next turn +1 Field.

Both are about equal. Dekoichi may appear to get a slight bonus because it has a higher attack, but Spy's attack of 1200 can destroy almost anything a person would set.

In both cases, you would not be able to special summon Cyber Dragon. However with Spy, you can tribute summon him and still have a backup monster. Why you would do this? I don't know... but it's better than tributing a lone Dekoichi.

The main reason that Spy is better is because by flipping it you automatically lose a potential bad topdeck unless you run three.

Verdict: Spy.

after a Topdecked Monarch.

Spy is better unless against Torrential Tribute. If the monarch gets crushed by Armor/Ring/BTH/Smash, you still have 1 card on the field to block.

Dekoichi + Monarch makes the TT look better, but it doesn't matter since the new Spy is a floater anyways.

Based on what I've been playing today, I realized that the best moves are:

1. TT + End
2. Apprentiace + End

IRC n00bs are too aggressive.

I live in CA.

Do you still play in Regionals and stuff?

-Bishop- - February 6, 2007 02:13 AM (GMT)
No.

btw, I messed up. Lucky Breaker attacking a FD Spy is even.
