I'm taking it upon myself to teach a few classes on how to improve you game. The first lesson is going to be how to achieve that on a mental level. What do I mean by that? Let me explain. When you go into anything, you will always have some sort of mindset. To further the example, let's say you are told to cut the grass. More than likely you are thinking, "Aw man! I don't want to do this!", right? Of course you don't want to cut grass, but I'm going to give you a secret. When you go into cutting grass, don't have the mentality of "Man this sucks!", or "I don't want to do this!". Instead, go into it with the mindset of finishing it, getting it done. "Yeah..I gotta cut grass, so I'm going to go out there, and get it done.", and I promise you if you do the task with that mindset, it will go smoother and a whole lot better.
Now how does cutting grass have to do with dueling? Good question, I'm glad you asked. You see, every duel you go into you will have some sort of mindset. If you know the person you face will be easy, you will more than likely be "Man this guy is easy, I'm going to beat him!", or if you go against an experienced player, you might be "Oh man, he's too hard, I don't want to face him!". I'm sure thoughts like that have went through all of your minds during the similar situations. I admit, it has mine. But there is a better way.
Each duel you play, go into with one of two, or even both of these mindsets: I'm going to win, and I'm going to have fun. Trust me, thinking with both of those in mind will make the duel better, and more fun. Also if you tell yourself you can win, you think you can will, well you can win. you go into it with a clear mind, and ready. Your opponent won't psyche you out as easily. Trust me it works. You become a better duelist when you go into a duel with a winning and fun loving attittude (another lesson to come) and mindset. Even if you don't win, you wint into it with the correct mindset and more prone to learn from your mistakes.
Well that's all I have for now, but next lesson will be about learning from your mistakes and how that will improve your game.
Hey thats a good idea i am often nerved by my opponent and dont play consevitably and often loose b/c of it
yea it works....i admit i've had my share of tush-whoopings courtesy of an experienced duelist...but at least i didn't come in last...thats how i see it. every tourny i went in thus far has let me come in 3rd or 4th place n im content with it.
