Title: Magic the Gathering Tread
Hiei, Enraged Demon - February 20, 2006 02:25 AM (GMT)
Since I cant find the old one, lets just start a new one. WHo all here plays Magic, and if you do, lest start with deck list and card discussion (and if you feel really into this thread, click on the link in my siggy)
Without any further a-do ,here is my Ghazi Glare deck:
Lands//24
3 Vitu Ghazi, the City Tree
2 Selesnya Sanctuary
8 Plains
10 Forests
Creatures\\
3 Seige Wurm
4 Sakura Tribe Elder
4 Selesnya Guildmage
3 Selesnya Evangel
3 Llanowar Elves
Spells//
3 Seed Spark
3 Glare of Subdual
4 Fists of Ironwood
3 Faith's Fetters
3 Devouring Light
4 Scattering the Seeds
THe main purpose of this deck is to create tokens at an alarming rate, then using Glare to tap around half my tokens to tap my opponents creatures out. Then I go in for the win.
Glare is used mainly for tapping creatures so they cant block or they cant attack me. I would gladly tap a creature to save my Life
Also, this Control-Like Deck also Relies on Destroying anything in my path i.e. Sundering Viate and Viridian Shaman
To be honest, thats about it. Any changes on a Budget?

for advanced, i run white weenies. i actually dont have any jittes, but i still havent actually lost a tournament with it yet. lol. i need better competition out here.
for extended, im currently running dredge-atog, but im almost done with the amazing frigorid deck.
and for vintage, im runnin affinity.
Hiei, Enraged Demon - February 20, 2006 03:46 PM (GMT)
When you said advanced, did you mean Standard.
I actually have one Jitte, but its almost pointless to run one, unless I can transmute with Infiltrator.
I've been working on this deck for some time, but I'm not too sure how it does against Guildpact stuff yet.
I know that most, if not all decent UW control decks contain 4 Wrath of God, but I dont own any (and since I am building this in real life and not for magic workstation, I am not using Wraths). I tried a few 'suppliments' for wrath, such as Myojin of Cleansing Fire and That Which Was Taken. They worked, but I didn't like the feel of those cards in this control deck. Right now this deck does have some kinks to work out (ok, probably alot of kinks), but lets see what you guys have to say. Mind you , I am on a Big Time Budget until I get a job. (also, if anyone has any ideas for Ravnica stuff, that would be greatly appreciated)
Pre-Azorious Senate, UW Control
Land//23
1 Eiganjo Castle
2 Cloudcrest Lake
10 Island
10 Swamp
Creatures//15
4 Kami of Ancient Law
4 Hand of Honor
4 Ninja of Deep Hours or Theiving Magpie (See Bullet #1)
1 Air Elemental
2 Clone
Spells//22 (see Bullet #2)
4 Mana Leak
4 Hinder
4 Boomerang
4 Faith's Fetters
3 Confiscate
3 Devouring Light
Sideboard//15
3 Ghostly Prison
3 Samurai of the Pale Curtain
3 Rewind
3 ????
3 ????
#1) I see pros and cons of each. Ninja is cheaper (when ninjitsu-ed), but doesnt fly. Magpie is the opposite because it files but is more expensive
#2) I have no way to get Remand as of now. Same goes with Telling Time.
Okey dokey. Now the basics of this deck is to counter anything threatening. Early on I use Leaks and Hinders. If they do get some kind of powerhouse creature in play I have one of four options. The first is to Fetter it. The Second, to Confiscate it. The third is to clone it if it isnt Legendary. The Fourth is to Clone it, then Fetter it. (See Game #1)
An interesting little ideal of this deck is it doenst have Keiga or Meloku as finishers (in part because I cant really get them) A good budget reason for this is the Clones. If I can get the Air Elemental Out, I can clone it to have 3 'breathing' down my opponents neck (pun intended, and yeah, I know it wasnt that good either). To be truly honest, there is not much to this deck.
Ok, Sideboard Time. Pale Curtain stops reanimator decks, while, yeah, I need to find 6 more sideboard cards...any suggestions.
Game #1 vs. Dimir Ranimator/Milling
This deck used a milling strategy, and after further inquiring, a reanimator strategy. This game owned. I started off slow, but when I drew confiscation, I had a hunch to save it since they had discarded Szadek. They then cast a second Szadek, which was quickly confiscated by me. I countered Vigor Mortis, which would have brought back Szadek #1, thus destroying mine too. I eventually kept swinging with Szadek until I Milled away the milling deck. That was a fun win.
Game #2 vs. Ghazi Glare.
At this time, I had the Devouring Light switched for the Prisons. I had a Prison in play, which was quickly eliminated by seed spark. They got glare out quickly, but Luckily I had Kami of Ancient law to deal with that quickly. Around this time, I was swinging with hand of honors (2). By the end, I cloned my hand of Honors and had 5 out. They kept on swinging for the win. I realized that if I didnt have the Hondens, I wouldnt have won so quickly, and also If i didnt use them, I could have risked the 2nd and 3rd Glares. When they killed my Prison, I was able to block about 1/2 of their saprolins, so I took around 5 damage/ turn from the others. Because of the Hondens, the final score was 38-0)

Well..i suppose its time to post my deck im currently working on, dubbed "Deal Maker" (guess which guild :P)
Lands 19
x4 Godless Shrine
x2 Orzhov Basilica
x2 Tendo Ice Bridge
x3 Plains
x8 Swamps
Creatures 27
x3 Ghost Council of Orzhova
x3 Teysa, Orzhov Scion
x4 Blind Hunter
x3 Souls of the Faultless
x4 Orzhov Guildmage
x2 Orzhov Pontiff
x4 Ogre Marauder
x2 Yokura The Prisoner
x2 Angel of Despair
Spells 14
x4 Ghostly Prison
x3 Cremate
x4 Mortify
x3 Last Gasp
The deck so far has won more than it's lost, though I feel it can be improved upon. I'm considering adding in another Orzhov Pontiff for token kill, and seeing if adding in some Leonin Skyhunters will help. Though any suggestions you all make will be greatly appreciated.

Someone at my Comic shop ran something similiar. Of course, we call him Meatball
The Orzhov Synidcate is cool, but I really cant get into the Black/White Mixture
Tom - February 21, 2006 09:11 PM (GMT)
I've always wanted to run Black/White, and was waiting for the propper support for it. I honestly think it can be a great contender. I mean, it can be agressive, it can drain, it can control....so many things it can do. Right now the deck I've set up is a more agressive/drain edge to it. I still think it's missing something, but I'll figure it out.

What you said is true, but I believe that some people dont like certain combonations.
For me its B/W. R/U, R/G, and sometime U/G (this could be because I never can build a decent budget one)
Tom - February 22, 2006 01:59 AM (GMT)
To each their own. Personally I dont like B/G. Oh well.
Hiei, Enraged Demon - February 22, 2006 10:25 PM (GMT)
I had a decent B/G deck built, but I let a friend of mine build a replica of it and it turned out that she (yes, she) mastered that deck more than I did.
But right now I am working on a B/U/G deck. Its goal is to mill by reusing my Glimpse (sadly only one :crying )
Tom - February 25, 2006 03:42 AM (GMT)
Try using Djinn Illuminatus in it...Imagine Glimps with Replicate >.<
Touzokuou Bakura - February 25, 2006 04:47 AM (GMT)
I found the other thread...which one do you guys prefer?
Hiei, Enraged Demon - February 25, 2006 01:28 PM (GMT)
