Title: Let's help one another! Homework Help Thread!
Description: post your skills and your help questions

ProfessorBrimstone - September 14, 2005 01:29 PM (GMT)
School has started and it has lured away some of the younger members of the site because of homework, so I say we do something to drag them back. Here my idea; let's have a homework help forum here on Yu-gi-oh_Net. This lets members get help from older members or members with better knowledge on a particular subject. Post what you are good at, and at anytime during the year, if you need help with an assignment, post what you are having problems with, and we can help you at that topic.

I am currently taking French III and Calc III at college, and I took 3 chemistry classes in high school, so I can give huge assistance in Math, French, and Chemistry. Since I've graduated high school as one of the tops of my class, I could help with any general high school courses too.

Xander - September 14, 2005 02:45 PM (GMT)
Homework help forum. XD

I think a thread should be enough. :P

sheetro - September 14, 2005 03:24 PM (GMT)
Cool! I'd love to help too!
I'm currently taking (that I can help in) English (A2 level), Media Studies (A2 Studies) and Art but not like I could help with that O__O; LOL! That's at English standard though - last year of highschool i think is the level but im not sure :S

I'll do my best *bows*

Hiei, Enraged Demon - September 14, 2005 09:38 PM (GMT)
I'll help as best I can...I'm taking these classes in my Junior year of Highschool

CP English 3
World Cultures
Spanish 3
Algebra 2
CP Chemisty
Instumental Techniques/Band (based on Instument practice, learning new instuments, and music Theory. any fingering positions, I got ya back. I know base and Treble cleffs. Remember.....E flat in 2&3 XD)

C'mon! Homework Help Forum has a better "ring" to it than Homework Help Thread, lol.

Sometimes you guys are just weird....

Touzokuou Bakura - September 15, 2005 01:44 PM (GMT)
I fail everything at school except English...so I'm gonna shut up...

Drizzt Do'Urden - September 16, 2005 03:29 AM (GMT)
Fail!?

I just don't understand. I guess some stuff comes easier for some than others. I can get a B in every class without studying or looking over the material we are going over.

I pass every class convincingly except for english. ;_;

Kurtboy - September 16, 2005 11:51 AM (GMT)
If we are going to do this, a thread will get to filled and clogged with questions and answers. It will need a forum of its own.

The only reason to make it a forum right now is to catch the attention of the new members. Mabye Kurt's right on this one.

Newz: Just do this as an experiment: make this into its own forum, so new members that view the site before joining might join for help. Since there is a growing amount of members that don't play Yu-gi-oh anymore, we need something outside of that topic to catch the attention of other people, and I think a homework help forum would do the job pretty nicely! Of course, if this is built, there will be rules, such as no spamming and not the whole assignment will be done for you and a few other rules like that to keep the forum under control.
If it doesn't go well within 3-4 weeks, then you can just simply delete it and return it into a thread. What do you say?

Drizzt Do'Urden - September 16, 2005 07:58 PM (GMT)
I think it sounds good.

Yes yes, you are a genius, I'm not.

Or maybe it's just because the teachers at our school enjoys giving us horribly difficult exams.

iloveatem - September 18, 2005 02:25 AM (GMT)
....^_^ YAY!! HELP ME HELP ME!! I'M FALLING....*dies*
Anyway, I think this is a great idea, I need homwork help all the time, and anyone available to help me are all idiots. ^_^

Does anyone know an easy way to memorize the Spanish alphabet?

You know I didn't mean it like that and I could rant and rave about how smart I am and stuff but I won't just because I'd hate to make others feel even worse so no more talk about my brains.

On another topic, I have no idea how to memorize the Spanish Alphapet since we didn't take a test on that. :( Sorry.

Newz: No wonder you pass all clases convincingly except English; you are taking English 9!

Touzokuou Bakura - September 20, 2005 11:39 AM (GMT)
Anyone know Japanese here? I'm trying to memorize all those damn symbols...>_>

Demon Eyes Kyo - September 20, 2005 11:44 AM (GMT)
TB i only just started japanese so maybe we could work together

Touzokuou Bakura - September 20, 2005 11:47 AM (GMT)
I borrowed a learning book from my friend today at school, so I'm gonna go and copy all those symbols (and how to pronounce them) later after I finish with the comp...Then I'll start memorizing....So far I know a few, like both versions of laughter (ha and ha, one more complicated one more easy to write), some names of characters, @_@

Demon Eyes Kyo - September 20, 2005 11:53 AM (GMT)
okay i got to learn where i'm from and the numbers for thursday and pronounce them properly. i'm gonna die X_X

Touzokuou Bakura - September 20, 2005 11:54 AM (GMT)
lol...I've already forgotten how to say "cat" and "fox"....>_>

Demon Eyes Kyo - September 20, 2005 11:56 AM (GMT)
i forgot a few of the numbers and i got to 1 - 10 maybe it'll come to my head in a bit.

Touzokuou Bakura - September 20, 2005 12:02 PM (GMT)
So far I'm just trying to memorize the sounds >_>

Touzokuou Bakura - September 20, 2005 12:41 PM (GMT)
There are loads more...*sigh* and I still haven't started on learning how to write them yet X_X

-Bishop- - September 23, 2005 05:09 AM (GMT)
Just a suggestion: you could probably merge this thread with the Ban/Restriction list discussion. It'll bring more activity, and it'll be funny: Ban/Restricted List/Homework Help.. WTF?

Confusion probably won't happen as the Ban List is here so there's no point in that discussion.

sheetro - September 23, 2005 03:29 PM (GMT)
.........yeah am I the only one who sees that not making any sense or...?

Japanese!! OOOH now THERES something I wanna do! I should find somewhere that does a course...

Vargrant Legend - September 28, 2005 11:40 PM (GMT)
Anyone here good at Pre Calc/ Alg 2? ._.

ProfessorBrimstone - September 28, 2005 11:43 PM (GMT)
hmm, I'm in calc. III right now, lol! I think I can help ya', lol. What's the problem?

Vargrant Legend - September 29, 2005 01:13 AM (GMT)
lol

I'm having trouble with matrices and such. :(

ProfessorBrimstone - September 30, 2005 01:02 PM (GMT)
I hate matricies! You never use them again until Calc III; it's so useless! Plus, it's hard to post them on here! I'll explain how to break-down one.

A matrice will look like this on this page:

[2 3]
[4 5] Now, to break this down into an equation:

[2 3]
[4 5] = (5*2) - (3*4)=-2 (for a 2 x 2 matrice, use the - unless a number is negative)

Now, for a bigger matrice, it's a lot harder:

[2 3 4]
[-3 7 1]
[9 -1 3]= 2*[(7*3)-(1*-1)] - 3*[(-3*3) - (9*1)] + 4[(-3*-1) -(9*7)]
= 2*[21+1] - 3[-9-9] + 4[3-63]
= 44-(-54)+(-240)
= -142

To break this down in terms of letters (lot simplier):
[a b c]
[i j k]
[x y z]= a[(j*z)-(y*k)] - b[(i*z)-(x*k)] + c[(i*y)-(x*j)]

I know this may seem confusing, but read slow, lol! Hope this helps.

Vargrant Legend - September 30, 2005 11:53 PM (GMT)
Heh. Thanks. I'm starting to get the hang of it...and yea that did help. There anoying as anything tho. >_<; I've got a test this monday on them lol.

Vargrant Legend - October 1, 2005 12:44 PM (GMT)
lol. That's what I said when I first started with it. :\

ProfessorBrimstone - October 3, 2005 04:27 PM (GMT)
Warrior of Darkness: HAHAHA! A Matrice is actually supposed to have one border on each side, not two or three like I posted. If you haven't had Algebra 2 before, this looks like a pile of *insert stinky word here*. Typing math is a lot harder to do than writing it.
Also, there are two sets of parenthesis:
( = is the default set; first one used
[ = is the 2nd set used
* = multiplication; I had no idea what symbol to use there, because a dot is the standard symbol used in math from aroung algebra 1 and on up. Before that, the standard symbol is a small x, but that gets confusing on paper with letters being used.

-Bishop- - October 4, 2005 04:33 AM (GMT)
Or unless you have a TI-83 because you are cool like me:

1. 2nd button
2. MATRX
3. Edit
4. Enter the screen should look like so:

1: [A]

5. Change 1 x 1 to 2 x 2
6. Input values corresponding to the problem. In this case:

[ 2 3 ]
[ 4 5 ]

7. Got back to MATRX using the Second Button like in steps 1 and 2
8. Exit the screen. 2nd and quit
9. Go to Math and select:

1: det(

10. Then go back to MATRX (steps 1+2) and select [A] again.

For 3 x 3s, 5 x 5s, and so on... the calculator is your best friend. That's just for finding the determenant.

Addind and Subtracting should be easy, although I forgot how to do multiplication of Matricies by hand.

I'm not sure if this applies to all books, but the meanings can also be:

'(' = not included
'[' = included

For example, given the function y > x^2 + 3x + 2

The domain would be:

(negative infinity,-3) U (-1, infinity)

Versus:

the function y >= x^2 + 3x + 2

the domain would be:

(negative infinity,-3] U [-1,infinity)

*Just wanted to point out a useless fact that no one would likely use in real life.
