Title: Cutting self.
Description: Bad?
Touzokuou Bakura - May 31, 2005 10:57 AM (GMT)
Do you consider it bad? I have a nasty habit of doing so whenever I feel that I'm at the brink of explosion. But I don't cut very deeply or anything, just enough for a little blood to seep out, not enough to trickle down. My friends all think that it's disgusting and creepy, but I'm afraid that if I don't do so I might really snap and harm someone. And cutting Bakura sama's name into my arm (I've done so for at least 10 times now, after each one heals), whenever I look at it it makes me feel calmer, that's how I got past the monthly exams before the last without cracking. I make sure the blades are clean, and I don't overdo it (it does hurt), even though sometimes it leaves a scar that takes a while to fade away. So what do you ppl think about it?
Kurtboy - May 31, 2005 11:01 AM (GMT)
I would say stop doing it, if you cut your arm in the wrong place, you can die, Serious, cutting a main vain could be deadly.
But you say it makes you feel calm, there are other ways of making yourself feel calm, and thats not a good one.
Try and do something else, cutting yourself is never good. =/
Touzokuou Bakura - May 31, 2005 11:07 AM (GMT)
I don't cut it very deep or anything, like I said, only enough for the blood to seep out, and I know where my major veins are o.O
I know it's not really good, I got sent to the counselor's office about two years ago for doing so, and the counselor told me to try get my minds off of the frustrating things, like draw some pictures, listen to some music (not those heavy metal death stuff though o.O) etc, but it doesn't work for me. Once I got really p!ssed when my mom ripped up a pic I was drawing and told me to study, so I can't draw or do anything else except to pretend to be studying...I was really angry at the time and didn't pause to take out the blade I keep in my pencil case. If I didn't cut myself then I might have attacked my mom, which definitely wouldn't be good.
Kurtboy - May 31, 2005 11:10 AM (GMT)
Hmm, your mom sounds mean O.o.
You need a punching bag,
Always helps me.
^_^
Touzokuou Bakura - May 31, 2005 11:12 AM (GMT)
:D lol
I do have a punching bag, persuaded my dad to buy it for me to take out my rage a while ago. Slight problem is that we have no place for the bag to be placed and for me to sock it, and pounding it on the ground would only drive our neighbors crazy (I live on the tenth floor)...>"< Agh.
I really do have a stress problem, don't I? o.O;
Kurtboy - May 31, 2005 11:15 AM (GMT)
Thats because you probably never shout, serious never lettiing steam out on somone of something can get you really frustrated and weird.
I know.....i have a big brother....and big sister.... O_O.
Touzokuou Bakura - May 31, 2005 11:18 AM (GMT)
o.O I have an elder bro who's 7 years elder than I am...He's really nice (most of the time) though.
I used to have a serious temper problem back while I was in elementary, I snapped at anyone who bumps into me, even whirling on the ppl who tap my back to get my attention, ready to snarl in their face...I slowly improved and now I can control my temper much better :P But I guess somewhere deep down I still have the anger burning within me, which got me into the cutting self thing o.o (I think I started doing so about nearly 4 years ago?)
Kurtboy - May 31, 2005 11:25 AM (GMT)
4 years huh, Mmm.
By now i guess your carfull when your doing said cutting.
Still....Not good though.
But i also know sombody who does it.
But they...are pretty unstable.
O.o
Touzokuou Bakura - May 31, 2005 11:27 AM (GMT)
o.o I think that's mainly why nearly all the ppl I know call me an insane psychotic o.o;;
I'm trying to quit it, but sometimes the rage just pwns my self-control...>_>
Chris89 - May 31, 2005 06:14 PM (GMT)
You're not alone. Once in awhile I cut myself as well. When I get really depressed or #@)$&*%! at someone I hurt myself. I'm not sure if this is spam or not but w/e. Anyways, I do realise that it isn't something I should do. I need to find other ways to vent the stress or rage... I think you should do the same Touzokuo Bakura. Punch a pillow, squeeze your hands tight, maybe punch something, but cutting isn't good. I do it, but who ever said I was a rolemodel :o. Anyways, I haven't done it in awhile, I have lowered down to punching walls, I mean, once in awhile that cuts my knuckles and makes me bleed but it's better than taking a blade to my arm <_<.
Kurtboy - May 31, 2005 06:16 PM (GMT)
Ive broken a knuckle punching a wall before. O_O
Boy did that hurt.
vampire lord - May 31, 2005 06:36 PM (GMT)
i think you have to get prof help or just talk to a doctor before you hurt your mom or your self
Arina - May 31, 2005 06:56 PM (GMT)
Cutting yourself is certainly not good. Used to, I'd dig my nails into my own arm or punch myself in the head (yeah, yeah, I know) when I was really, really mad or upset just to keep from hurting someone else. Thankfully, I've now got my writing to calm me down... and my beanbag chair. When I'm mad, I give my beanbag chair a couple of really good kicks and then sit down to write. That usually makes me feel better. Oh, and crying. That seems to help get it out of my system a lot faster.

Heh.When im #@)$&*%! i beet the shti out off people. :D
Gilfer - May 31, 2005 09:34 PM (GMT)
hey, instead of cutting myself i punch myself. it gets the anger out, and you only want to do it once. ouch...
Tyrin Claw - May 31, 2005 10:15 PM (GMT)
If I get angry, I scream at people...some of you may know what I mean... Thankfully I don't get angry very often. ^_^
Cutting yourself is not something I condone though...there are less dangerous ways of venting emotion...
Gilfer - May 31, 2005 10:20 PM (GMT)
like punching yourself, lol.
sheetro - May 31, 2005 11:18 PM (GMT)
WAAAH HEEEEY!!! NOOOO!!!!
there have been many a time when I have wanted to cut myself but I dont (mainly coz if i do, i'd faint...im scared of blood -__-;)
Times can get rough, amazingly rough. I think I've been through too much to even begin. When I do get like that, I ready the knife. It's an obvious way to relieve stress. However there's many other ways to calm yourself - like ballet or yoga (I'm kiddin')
Just try not to do it - even ifit's not that deep - it's not good for you!! I don't want you to do it please - stupid thing to say since I don't even know you but I feel we're like friends. Friends can be there for one another (another thing to help you calm your nerves) when there's nobody around i guess cuttin seems like thebest thing to do but it's not. It sucks.
You've got me worried about you :( please don't!!
Nobody should have to go through pain or suffering and that is pain - although it may seem good at the time, it's not.
I agree with the above somewhere. Try something else. When I'm in a pent up rage, everyone avoids me. Once it got so bad i spun in my computer chair round really quickly, listening to really loud music about suicide and was ready to do it. (doesn't sounds amazing but trust - im scared of myself)
I know we aren't talking about suicide here -__-;; but that's jus what rage does to me sometimes (not spamming - there is a point to my essay of a post)
If in a rage, best thing to do is lock yourself in your room, punch or smash something (a plate maybe) and just cry. Let it all out. Nobody minds! Nobody is goin to laugh at you or be worried - it's normal. However, cutting oneself, jus gets people worried and in your face - if you're truly peeved off, you wouldn't want people in your face asking how you are or how the cuts got there...right?
*hugs* i care bout u ^_^ xxx

i agree, listen to music or something to calm yourself down. anything other than inflicting damage to yourself.

After looking over the other posts, I don't think there's much to add.
And because I like to bore people:
Cutting is unhealthy because it is undoubly addictive because when you cut, the brain is quickly sends out a hormone, Endorphins, which relieves pain and relaxes the person whom is injured. Endorphins are also the same hormone that is released when one does heroine. Just a comparsion, I'm not advocating anything... ._.
The main reason that cutting is bad because you can accidentally kill yourself or get an infection.
Other ways that the brain will release endorhpins for relaxation include:
-laughter
-exercise
-sex (just wanted to list that. XD),
-chocolate (corny, but it's true)
If you want to quit here are some possible ways:
-Tie a rubberbad around your wrist and pull it everytime you want to cut. It's the same thing they use to treat people with anger problems, smoking and drug habits, etc.
-Quit gradually. Making progress each day. It might be helpful to keep a journal of your progress.
-Get professional help or talk to someone you trust. The easiest method. I would include parent in this list but it doesn't seem like you like them very much. For this reason, I would actually recommed to keep this away from them, or until, your at a more stable level.
Touzokuou Bakura - June 1, 2005 11:09 AM (GMT)
I've tried the rubberband ages before, and all I got was a large patch of throbbing wrist.
As I'm being watched as I study, I can't do anything personal to take out the anger, like listening to music, etc.
I've tried punching myself or other stuff, but it doesn't work that well either...
Agh....>_>;

Take up boxing, that's a good hobby for anger. o.o;

It sounds like you are trying to justify your problem by saying i"m not cutting deep" and "im alwasy making sure the blades are clean". Do not try to justify what you do, try to see that it is bad and that you should stop. I think what you should do is tell a close friend or family member as they will be able to help you and maybe talk you out of doing it.
If im realy realy angry i will shout as loud as i can or cry because i find these are both very effective.
Lusterknight - June 2, 2005 10:15 PM (GMT)
Im usually a pretty calm guy, but when i do get, u know, frustrated, i like to do a headstand. Yea yea, sounds stupid know? but it does make for a quite relaxing yoga type thing to cool ya down. Sometimes i puch soft stuff, like my bed, to make sure i don't hurt myself or anyone around me.
Another good way is to watch something really funny on TV or the Comp. I usually get over stuff when im laughing.
monolith_xyber - June 3, 2005 09:27 PM (GMT)
Look normally I'd make some kinda wiseass comment but this is serious, seek help dude. Talk to somebody. Doesn't have to be like a psychologist or councillor or anything, but talk to somebody. Relative, friend whatever.
Touzokuou Bakura - June 3, 2005 09:28 PM (GMT)
admin, I'm not trying to "justify" anything here.
I make sure the blades are clean because I don't wanna get an infection.
I don't cut too deeply because I do have pain nerves.
Both my parents are idiots, if I ever tell them they'd probably just go ballistic and tell me seriously not to ever do so again. Like that's a big help.
*sigh* I dunno. It's not like I'm staring at blades all day thinking of them slicing through my flesh, I just grab them when I lose control.
