Title: Wwe Smackdown/raw Ppview Thread
Description: (A special place for us wrestling fans)
Chris89 - March 11, 2005 02:09 AM (GMT)
This is my official WWE thread, post any thing here about WWE that includes rumors, news, match results, etc; Just to start things off, what do you guys think about that Dave Batista HHH fiasco? That has to be the biggest set up in WWE history, Cmon, their were boxes in the frikkin parking lot to save Batista on, how fake was that? Now about Randy Orten challenging the Undertaker, do u guys think Randy is out of his mind or a future Wrestlemania legend? One more thing for now, about that clown JBL and his lowsy cabinet, I am sooooo mad that Orlando stole the title from John Cena, that was a dirty shame, they even had the nerve to light JC's title on fire, wow, that was stupid, so post your thought here about current and past WWE events, I know I'm a WWE fanatic, is any one else?
Anung un Rama - March 11, 2005 04:09 AM (GMT)
I'm a fan. My first wrestlemania was #3. I didnt watch for a good chunk of the ninetys, got back into it during the monday night wars. Been fairly faithful since then. Triple H may have ALOT of backstage clout, being married to Stephanie and all, but the Truth is, he's great at his Job. I mean Hell, he makes nearly everyone he wrestles look good. Thats what a champions job is.
Now as to the Batista thing. batista hasnt shown that he's capable of making the less popular guys look good. When he can do that, then give him the title. That aside, Batistas the best thing to hit wrestleing in a long time. He and Randy Orton are the future of wrestling. I just wish there were more good guys like them. The field is thin. Snitsky is making a good showing, but he has no Character.
Big Show should be the next champ on Smackdown without question. He's paid his dues and is on a great streak as far as his character goes. He's trimmed down alot, is more mobile than ever. That football tackle a few weeks ago that I believe was recieved by Orlando Jordan was AWESOME. I'll tune in every week to see a 7'6'' 550 pound guy do that to another human being.
John Bradsahw Layfield is good only in the sence that all his title defences have been in unusual matchs. I get tired of the cheap victories though, and that goes fo rtriple H as well. I like a clean victory without the outside interference. Layfield is not charasmatic at all, and his championship suffers from that, but the cool matchs make up in that area.
Heres to hoping that a Macho Man 3 disc DVD collection comes out soon.
Chris89 - March 11, 2005 04:23 AM (GMT)
Nice oppinions, different but nice, I can;t say one good thing about HHH though. I agree that Batista and Orton and Big Show are the best things to hit wwe in a LONG time since the Rock and Austin but you left out John Cena, love him or hate him John Cena is a true fan's wrestler, he has the personality to go with his in ring skills, I tune in every week to see him spit lines and flow rhymes, listen to his wise cracks and see him break backs, (sorry), but I like him. Kurt Angle is simply put, the man, he is a genious, like him or not you can not deny his unmistakable winning streaks, his unparalelled triumphs and purely ingenious schemes. I know many hate him chanting "you suck" but the books show that he has accomplished more than 90% of today's wrestlers could even dream of. I do agree the same can be said about HHH but HHH has the personallity of a rock. How could we even begin to chat about wrestling without mentioning Mick Foley, he reinvented HardCore, with each personality his fine line between sanity and insanity thins down, being one of the first wrestlers to take an unrigged glass bottle to the forhead and even challenging Undertaker to a cage match Foley's wrestling soirit is unparalelled, and the theirs Shawn Michaels, he faught for the championship while half in the hospital room practically for his fans sake, I could go on forever but these are just a few ideas, lol. Who is everyone's favorite wrestler of all time?
Kurtboy - March 11, 2005 10:40 AM (GMT)
I like smackdown better,Always have, But ive been missing the ppv's and getting real angry with myself for not recording them.
Edited: what do you think is the most amazing move/stunt to be pulled of in wwe?
I would say when shane mc mahan jumped of the top of the titontron (Entrance/stage) it was about 70 feet! or jeff hardy at wrestle mania with the swanton bomb of the ladder.
Chris89 - March 11, 2005 06:22 PM (GMT)
Deffinitly the swan ton bomb off the ladder for me, Shano Mac's was pretty crazy but Jeff's was more memorable, and Cmon, it's Jeff Hardy.
Here's a question, whats everyone's favorite wrestling move, mine personnally is the Walls of Jerico, simple move to pull off yet amazingly effective. 2'nd place is the Angle Slam and that's a tie with the RKO, both can come out of practically nowhere and both are devatating maneuvers.
Kurtboy - March 11, 2005 06:46 PM (GMT)
OK here is what i think
1: last ride (i mean god,the hight of that slam is amazing!)
2:Piledrive (yes the old grappling/slugger move can be deadly)
3:shooting star press (just amazes me every time)
I correct myself! mick foley and the undertaker! yes how could i forget it the most amazing brutal sick and entertaining match of all time The fall of that cage....well no need to explaine.
ProfessorBrimstone - March 11, 2005 06:47 PM (GMT)
I dunno about what's my #1 favorite move, but here's a few of my favorites. One is good ol' hulk hogan's atomic leg drop. How can such a simple and basic move be one of the most popular moves of all time? It's because hulk hogan pulls is off successfully with his high popularity, and those 2 combined makes it one of the best moves of all time. Currently, I like Rey Mysterio's 619. I bet that took months of practice before he could master that move perfectly. Also, another favorite move of mine is the shooting star press. it's rarely done anymore though, because it's very hard to master and very risky to perform. Cruserweights used to use this move all time, along with Shawn Michales back at his early days, and dont' forget Brock Lesner doing that at Wrestlemania (I think) to win the title.
My favorite moment was back many many years ago; the stunt that made Mankind a superstar. It was the hell in a cell match; undertaker vs. mankind. Undertaker choke slammed him into the announcer table from the top of the cell. EMT's came in and took him off the ring. However, he woke up, got off the streatcher and continued to fight him. Later in the match, the undertaker choke slammed him through the top of the cell too, but mankind never quit. He got out thumbtacks and put them in the middle of the ring, however, undertaker countered his move and chokeslammed mankind on 100's of thumbtacks!!! Me, and along with many other people I know, have been HUGE mankind fans since that day!
I've been a fan since I was 5. It was wrestlemania VI (the first one I've watched), and it contained one of the top ten wrestlemania matches of all time (officially, from the special on spike tv last year the same day as wrestlemania). It was #9 on that list, the main event; hulk hogan vs. the ultimate warrior. Nearly a 45-50 minute match of so many match-changing moments, and it was a perfect example of a tough, fair, clean, and yet very exicting match everyone wants to see.
Chris89 - March 11, 2005 07:25 PM (GMT)
The Shooting Star Press is very impressive to say the least yet it is so hard to pull of and so risky that the move borders stupidity. Oh how could I forget Brock Lesner, my 2'nd favorite wrestler of all time, him and Angle were the best tag team of all time imo and Brock was so stupid to go to NFL, I miss him in the ring, why did he have to leave, lol... Stupid football. Oh yes, Undertaker and Mankind's match, I don't have words for that except, wow! Mick Foley is the man.
Anung un Rama - March 12, 2005 03:39 AM (GMT)
Best Cage match I ever saw was The Rockers against Playboy Buddy Rose and some other guy. Non televised back when Shawn Michaels and marty jannety were in the NWA. It was at the Showboat Hotel in Las Vegas. Man I think everyone in the match got busted Open. Blood everywhere, and Shawn Michaels was at his best when he was in The Rockers. Great match.
Your Right about Kurt Angle. That guy Has Changed wrestling in so many ways. And his matchs are always great. I loved his run with Chris Benoit, those two put on a wrestleing clinic. kurt Angle will tottaly beat Shawn Michaels butt at Wrestlemania. Shawn has nothing on Kurt. NOTHING. kurts a legend just waiting to be declared as such.
I like Foleys match against HHH thats on the DVD. The one where HHH gets all busted open from the Barbwire club. Mankind gets hancuffed and continues the match by headbutting! That was a great match.
John Cena is a greta wrestler and has alot of Charisma. The Only reason I dont like his is because of his character. I really really really hate RAp music and everything assosiated with it. If that wasnt his character I would love the guy.
Favorite Move ? Macho Mans flying elbow off the top rope. Pure Poetry. Macho Man in his early days (before the cowboy hat) was the single greatest wrestler of all time. He owned the ring when he was in it, and made everyone that he wrestled look good. What more can you ask of any wrestler ? He's the insane counterpart to the living Legend Ric Flair. Like the reverse side of that coin. And like ric Flair, his matchs with Ricky Steamboat are considered some of the greatest of all time. Find a video of Macho wrestling, and Play his Elbow back in slow-Mo. perfection.
Ultimate Warrior ? A one trick Pony. He actually made Macho Man look Bad in their Wrestlemania match. How ? by having Macho stand Staggering in the center of the ring for not 2....not 3....not 4....not 5....not 6....but 7 rope bouncing Indian rain dance charges off the ropes before he finally landed his clothsline. Warrior was a hack, and I for one was glad to see him go.
Brock was passed up for his NFL draft. Apparently he didnt know enough about football from what I heard, and they told him to study up and that MAYBE he'll get drafted next year. I would like to see him return to WWE. hated to see him go after such a piss poor match at Wrestlemania against Goldberg. That match SHOULD have been WAY better.
ProfessorBrimstone - March 12, 2005 07:43 AM (GMT)
yeah, do you remember what happened at that match (the goldberg vs. brock lesner)?? The crowd booed them!!! After the crowd went down a bit, Goldberg just did the finisher and got it over with. It was probably, in my opinion, one of the worst matches I've ever seen.
Chris89 - March 12, 2005 03:45 PM (GMT)
I never got to see the Goldberg and Lesner match unfortunately, how did it become so bad, like what happened basically, now I'm interested. Anung un Rama, finally I've found another Angle fan, yay! He he, but seriously, more people need to realize his talent. About John Cena now, I've always liked him and always will, I love the Hip-Hop culture and mostly everything about it, so naturally I like him,... but what he did to Theodore Long last week was inexcusable, Cena should be susspended until Wrestlemania and should even be fined for $10,000 in my oppinion.
He needs some time off to chill, you just don't lay your hands on a GM, he's starting to remind me of Stone Cold with his temper and I HATED Stone Cold. Who here thinks that the Carlito Caribbian Cool and Long antics are hilarrious, I for one find them refreshing comic relief for the show, whats better than seeing Carlito scream like a woman in fear of a wrestler like the Undertaker, nothin imo, lol.
Kurtboy - March 12, 2005 04:14 PM (GMT)
That match was awfull they just circled around the ring staring at each other then goldberg hit the jacknife (and not a very good one at that) then got the 3 count. After all the hipe of that match it didd'nt live up to expectation at all,i agree spawn one of the worst matches ever.
Chris89 - March 12, 2005 04:24 PM (GMT)
Lol, I wanna see it now! Sounds stupid. :P
Anung un Rama - March 12, 2005 05:17 PM (GMT)
Yeh, in that match everyone knew that both guys were leaving for no good reason, so the crowd was booing them from the moment they came out. Now everyone had hopes built up that these two monsters were gonna wreck the place, but like you said, they just circled abotu and stred at each other for like, ...what... 4 minutes ? Then they did the two bulls pushing each other bit and knocked each other around a little bit. After Goldberg won the match Stone Cold gave both of them Stunners and it was Over. The best part of the whole thing was the stunners. And I hate outside interference in a match. LOL
Angle is a fantastic wrestler, and deserves nothing but respect, especially considering he's in pain from his neck alot of the time. On top of that he's a good person in real life, just another thing to respect him for. He tends to dodge the standard wrestleing moves, and brings the flavor of amateur wrestleing to the ring. Thats what made his run with Chris Benoit so good. Even now, when he should be retireing fort health reasons, he's at the top of his game. This upcoming match at Wrestlemania may be a last hurrah for him, and should be a good one what with Shawn Michaels as his opponent. I'm not a big Shawn fan, but I do know that the guy gives 110% in a match, and since Angle does as well then we should be in for a real treat.
Long is a GREAT GM on Smackdown, and the bits with Carlito are really good. I hope when Carlito recovers from the injuries he got from the beating Cena gave him he'll wrestle as good as he acts.
Speaking of hopeing. Big Chris, I hope you recover soon from your bad taste in music and culture. RAP "music" is the bane of modern society. I weep for the future of those that listen to it.
Oh yeh, as far as attacking a GM goes on the part of Cena, what did you expect from a two bit street thug ? I mean come on, he listens to RAp music, its not like he has a moral compass. -_-
Kurtboy - March 12, 2005 05:43 PM (GMT)
well said Anung un Rama now here is my top 5 wrestlers.
1: brock lesner (in his prime he was unstoppable)
2: mankind (hardcore wrestling!)
3: HHH (just always likes him)
4: chris jerico (Great alround wrestler)
5:Rey mysterio/paul londen (i really cant choose between these 2 great cruser weights)
Randy orten I cant stand him,one thing i also think is stupid, when he faced of againced mick foley he knocked him out with a rko?!?!? mick foley is not the sort of person to get knoked out by a rko,its a real crappy move that would not hurt you at all. And he thinks he is the best of the best i hope someone knocks the hell out of him in one matchup but im sure some people here will dissagree but thats what i think.
Anung un Rama - March 12, 2005 06:01 PM (GMT)
Randy orton is a great wrestler. Like batista, he spent time working with two of the best that theres ever been. He's got the moves and the showmanship. Now he just needs to Maintain. I hear that theres a problem with his Ego, and I mean that in real life terms, not just the show. Hopefully he can overcome that and stick around awhile. Maybe Shawn Michaels can pull him aside and set him straight on the Damage an inflated ego can cause.
Rey Mysterio is Amazing. He must work really hard offstage, because he brings something NEW to every match he is in. A little guy like that That can stand on his own against giants like Nash and come out on top. Awesome. :D
Brock Lesnar was just starting to stand on his Own when he left. Kurt Angle really trained him how to wrestle, and The Giant taught him how to use his size and strength. When he was finally gettign to where he could be used to share some of his heat with younger wrestlers he left. I hope he comes back so McMahon can get a return on his investment.
I think your right, Chris Jehrico is a great wrestler. I tihnk his only setback is his size. If he were only a little bigger I think he could carry a Show. He does have the moves.
Chris89 - March 13, 2005 06:15 AM (GMT)
Chris Jerico has more accomplishments in his modderatly long career than all wrestler double his age and less, Chris Jerico CAN beat Kurt Angle and he is the first ever Undisouted champion, he is undoubtadly my favorite super star on Raw, not to mention that he has an astoundingly hillarious personality and he reinvents WWE as we know it every time he enters the ring. And to top it all off he has his own rock group Fozzy, and he is still very early in his career, amazing is the only way to describe the certain future hall of famer Y2J.
Now I can't let this one go about what you said about rap, however I will for now, that is your oppinion and that is your right no matter how one sided and ignorant it may be. I will plead the fifth for now because this is not the place or time to argue about Rap music. Also I refuse to argue with a fellow Angle fan, yay, I'm not the only one!!!
Here's my top 5
1Kurt Angle(best technical wrestler to ever live)
2Mick Foley(the true heart of what a wrestler should be)
3Chris Jerico(so many accomplishments and the personality to go with it)
4John Cena(I love rap, if u don't then it's your loss)
5The Undertaker/tie/Brock Lesner(Undertaker's legacy is still reighning sumpreme even at his old age, and Brock Lesner was the big thing, it's a shame that he had to leave for lowsy football)
Kurtboy - March 13, 2005 06:58 PM (GMT)
Yes i should of said kurt angle,he is a great wrestler and has great expirance and exxacutes all his moves perfectly.
ProfessorBrimstone - March 14, 2005 03:47 AM (GMT)
I am also not a big fan of rap/hip-hop, but however, it was a great idea of the WWE to bring someone that can play that kind of role, yet be an extremely chrismatic/fan favorite kind of wrestler. Sometimes I would wish he was black for acting such like a stereotypical thug, but i sadly think that wouldn't bring as many fans as he does now.
I guess we're all Angle-o-holics, lol. I am also a huge fan of kurt angle. Everyone here has already said why he's such a great wrestler, I dont' need to say more.
yeah, it doesn't make sense about the rko knocking out mankind, but nearly all finishers dont' really hurt at all. Think of some of the best finishers of all time: the Stunner (might sting at the knees, OOOOOOOO), the people's elbow, rko, pedigree (c'mon, you're getiing pushed face down, but only from about 2 feet from the ground), the 5-star frog splash (whenever hit correctly, it doesn't hurt either party, trust me, it's been done to me from a 320 pound person before), and especially hogan's Atomic Leg Drop, lol. If the move looks cool and unique and if its from a very popular person, then the finisher will always be remembered as a great one.
Chris89 - March 14, 2005 04:39 AM (GMT)
The only paiful finisher that comes to mind is The Undertaker's Tombstone which is also very dangerous, I think that Foleys loss was a setup to heighten the legend killers streak and I know for a fact that the WORM is in fact the stupidest finisher in WWE history, lol, more Angle fans, I love you guys, lol! And here I thought that I was the only one! I also like Eddy Geurerro, Chris Benoit and Shawn Michaels as honerable mentions, I have to mention The Hardy Boys as well as Christian as of late, for some reason I like Christian, who here is a peep?
Kurtboy - March 14, 2005 08:52 AM (GMT)
Oh yes the worm lOl,
Urgh i hate john cena...
Chris89 - March 14, 2005 06:06 PM (GMT)
Yes, Scotty too Hotty is awesome but his lowsy a** move needs to go, how can you hate John Cena man, what did he ever do to you?
Vargrant Legend - March 14, 2005 08:18 PM (GMT)
Cena is teh shiot biotch.
Most painful finisher?Vertebreaker,Brock Lock (GHOD that would break you in half),Crossface,Tombstone, and Pedigree.
Best matches: Lesnar vs Kurt Iron Man,HBK vs Razor Ramon WMX,Lesnar vs Big Show,A Train,And I think Matt Morgan...So many good matches.
Chris89 - March 15, 2005 01:45 AM (GMT)
Please keep your oppinons respectful no matter how much you hate Cena I would not call him a "shiot biotch", whatever that is. The Brock Lock was a good move though, that had to hurt.
Anung un Rama - March 15, 2005 04:20 AM (GMT)
Christian is AWFUL! A horrible horrible wrestler. He has the personality of a little yapping dog that thinks its tough. Ya just wanna kick him real hard. And I can see potential in a horrible character like The Hurricane, but I see nothing in Christian. He just SUCKS. nuff said
Hey, someone mentioned Matt Morgan, he was scheduled for a big push, but last I heard he's still in Ohio Valley Wrestling. What happened ? Whens he coming to the big show ? I think Matts the current Champ in OVW isn't he ?
Why the HELL would you call the HBK Razor Ramon match great ? What was great about it? HBK wrestled with that ladder, not Razor. It may have been good at the time because no one had really done a ladder match like that, But Razor Ramon has always been a horrible wrestler.
Ok cast your votes.. Who will win Randy Orton or Undertaker ? Undertakers unbeaten for 12 Wrestlemanias. And Randy is the Legend Killer. Cast your votes in your posts. I think Undertaker will make this a Last Hurrah match. Maybe make it real bloody and pass the torch to Orton. Taker's probably feelin it and wants to start thinkin bout retirement. Woulds be a good way to finally Rest In Peace, to pass the torch in the match of his dreams. I think McMahon would let Taker do it how he wants too. Lots of Blood and a proper Burial to a legend. I say Orton will win.
Chris89 - March 15, 2005 11:53 PM (GMT)
I think that you are correct in saying that Undertaker is about to give us his last hurrah.
Vargrant Legend - March 16, 2005 02:30 AM (GMT)
Ehh...BigChriss f00. Teh Shiot Biotch means Cena kicks ***.
Kurtboy - March 16, 2005 02:16 PM (GMT)
lol,i never thought it ment that
Chris89 - March 16, 2005 06:27 PM (GMT)
Okay good, I guess he does kick ***. Sorry, I didn't know what that meant, I shouldn't assume.
Vargrant Legend - March 16, 2005 06:51 PM (GMT)
ProfessorBrimstone - March 16, 2005 08:35 PM (GMT)
sadly, since they are putting so much hype into undertaker's unbeaten streak (which I have never heard of until this point), I believe that randy orton will win the match. It could possibly be the best match at wrestlemania XXI.
Chris89 - March 16, 2005 09:36 PM (GMT)
I am hoping that whatever the outcome that it will be a good match but you cannot deny the hype, look at us, posting about it on a yugioh site, lol. I am personally looking forward to seeing the Masterpiece in another match, he's amazing!
Vargrant Legend - March 17, 2005 02:40 AM (GMT)
The one I am looking forward to Cena vs JBL..
Actualy wait whats the others...uhh...damn.
Chris89 - March 17, 2005 03:16 AM (GMT)
HHH versus Batista is the other main event but all of the matches are pretty huge. What about the Stone Cold appearance guys, are you excited about it or not? Personnally I hate Stone Cold and every thing he stands for but all of your oppinions are appreciated. So the question.
Are you excited to see Stone Cold's guest appearance at Wrestlemania XXI?
ProfessorBrimstone - March 17, 2005 07:35 AM (GMT)
dude, how could you hate Stone Cold??? He elevated WWE from really out of no where to lead the WWE to be able to compete against WCW, and having The Rock pretty much sealed the deal and propelled them to win the monday-night wars (ahh yes, remember the good ol' days of WCW vs. WWF??) dude, I can't wait for that to happen!! Anything stone cold is going to rock. Also, think about it, even though he hasn't wrestled in over 2 years, he has left a final mark with the "WHAT?" chant that is done constantly, lol. Plus you gotta love him acting like a redneck, it's what makes him such a great personallity.
Kurtboy - March 17, 2005 09:04 AM (GMT)
king_laharl - March 17, 2005 10:16 AM (GMT)
im glad the rattlesnake is back at Wrestlemainia 21 and he appering in the Pipers pit at that so that should be something to watch, the main match I want to watch is batista vs HHH cause i want to watch the games face when batista oblitorates him and then 2 or the origional 4 members of evolution would have left and became world champ
ProfessorBrimstone - March 17, 2005 07:13 PM (GMT)
that was probably the purpose of Vince McMann whenever he recruited Basita and Randy Orton. I guess Batista has some raw talent, because I can see why Vince wanted to make Orton huge (he's a3rd generation superstar), but I guess Batisa is really that great of an athlete, but he needs to develop a personallity.
I just have a feeling that Batista will win the world title, and John Cena will win his first world title too. They have developed him long enough and built enough of a storyline around him and has a standout personallity and a fan favorite to make him champ. I still think it's going to be too soon for Batista. I think they'll do what they did to Orton; make him champ, but make it only last for a month or two, then give it back to Triple H.
Chris89 - March 17, 2005 07:51 PM (GMT)
I don't like Stone Cold because he is every thing that a role model shouldn't be. He is a rebel to the boss, he is an alcoholic, he cusses every time you turn around and he advocates flipping the bird, I know that sounds like I'm talking through my teeth but I do hate him. He shouldn't be an all time great and he shouldn't even be allowed in a WWE ring on national TV. That is just my oppinion but I do not like him at all. I can respect his legacy and how he helped win the monday night war but I still hate him and I hate how people actually like him for being such a loser, but like I said he deserves his due, I still hate him but I respect him. Just like I hate Ric Flair but I can respect his legacy.
ProfessorBrimstone - March 17, 2005 08:05 PM (GMT)
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
well, at least you respect him and Ric Flair. I don't like Ric Flair still wrestling, but I loved him back when I watched at the early 90's.
