 Well, what do ya say about that?
Pontians say that they are already building their scientific comittee, and they are ready for a talk that will lead turkey closer to EU, when they will admit the Genocides againdt Pontians Armenians (and Assyrians).

That the chances of international support are very slim due to the indifference shown till now. When you decide to raise internationally such issue after 100 years, you can expect a drop of your credibility from the outsiders.

Has any Greek ever read the book Η γενοκτονία των Ελλήνων του Πόντου(The Genocide of the Greeks of Pontos) by Κωνσταντίνος Φωτιάδης?
Does anyone think they can scan some salient pages in so I can evaluate if it is worth buying? There are two versions of the book, one is a three volume work spanning over 2000 pages published by ΗΡΟΔΟΤΟΣ and a smaller one volume edition edition that is published by the Greek Parliament(ΒΟΥΛΗ ΤΩΝ ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ). It is suppossed to rely on the foreign archives of many European governments.

Very true, Pontians should have spoken out sooner like the Armenians did in order to be taken seriously. The city that I live in the United States has acknowledged the Pontian genocide, their going to build a monument soon. Steps have been taken by the Greek communities in the US to have powerful political leaders acknowledge the genocides but Armenian groups seem to get in the way, rather strange I think…

There are more armenians than there are pontian greeks, and pontians are a part of a grander scheme of hellenism. Not simply a nation unto themselves like the armenians. Also, when the surviving pontian greeks came from turkey into greece it was a bombardment of war, after war, after war. How could the pontians have had time to raise concern for what had happened to them as early as the armenians did?
As far as when concern was raised on behalf of the Pontian Greeks. It was raised when the events were happening by the major newspapers in the United States and beyond. The US Ambassador to Turkey at the time, wrote about the greeks in his book along side his descriptions of atrocites occuring to the armenians.
I have noticed however, that Greeks will support the armenians on their quest. But Armenians never seem to raise they're voices in defense of the Greeks... Odd considering the good relations between the two nations seem to have always been, even in antiquity, in a pleasant harmony. :doubt:
