Title: Insignia
Lord - April 27, 2005 06:16 AM (GMT)
I open this thread so we can add in here the different insignia of SF units...
I start with a little quiz Gents...(for non greek readers)
Which Unit selected this Insignia for its banner...?
Non Greek for shure...because in such themes our Gents...sleep the sleep of the rightfull... <_< (greek saying)
I find this insignia one of the most beautifull i could imagine for our boys...

The Corinthian helmet always looks good in military emblems - from the front and the side. A good choice.
One thing that annoyed me about our Armed Forces was that emblems were designed for large-formation units (Divisions, Brigades etc.). There are very few Regiments/Battalions in the Hellenic Army with their own emblems.
Anyway, here's a little quiz for the Greeks out there. To which unit did this belong?

Yes. Sacred Band (aka Ieros Lohos, Sacred Company, Sacred Squadron).
The motto is I Tan I Epi Tas (With This Or On This). The old saying by the Spartan women to their men before battle - "...return with this shield (triumphant) or on it (dead)".

The first one - don't know. Looks cool, though.
The second one is definitely US Special Forces Group.
The others, not so sure about. Number 3 is KSK??? The bottom one looks like French SAS (1er RPIMa), but your signature gives that away. :D

1st one is american, look at the eagle. Probably Seals, because of the anchor...

...no, the Navy Seal emblem has a Trident. The top one looks like a Dutch or French design. Commando Hubert, maybe???

1st Commando Hubert
2nd Green Berets
3rd KSK
4th 1 RPIMa
