mourlos pilioreiths - February 28, 2005 11:50 PM (GMT)
Ok personally i listen to almost all types of music (britney spears style and garbi(greek singer) style of music are STRICTLY PROHIBITED!!!!!!)
But above all
METAL RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cigkufte - March 1, 2005 01:28 AM (GMT)
My current favoriye is "the Mehter Marslari" Ottoman military songs. I'd like to share them here but then probably Modus would bombard me with those messeges with a lot of fancy law terms and stuff so I'm just gonna keep it to myself. Anybody willing to hear some kickass songs let me know I'll email them to you.
Uski - March 1, 2005 01:40 AM (GMT)
Metallica is too....crazy
I like the Turkish March by Mozart...thats one of the classical songs I like(which I dont listen to classical)
I mostly like old school rap...most new songs are crap.
For example I like:
BIGGIE(obviously)
50 Cent's old songs(before shady records)
some NWA
Eminem's old songs(few of his new ones are any good)
And I just started listening to Turkish rap :D its awesome!! especially Ceza

its not bad...but 50 Cent is better at rapping about gangster life than anything else
cigkufte - March 1, 2005 03:00 AM (GMT)
Well he, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube are all former gang members. Other like Ja Rule or Jay Z are forgive me for saying this but gagsta wanna bees. (aka bitch ass niggaz) Some of them just act like hardass. Some of them like 50 cents have been shot. I dont know whether you know this or not but my man 5O was shot 9 times. Once in the face 8 times in the chest. So he can act like a hardass as much as he wants. Its that Ja Rule that drives me krazy. phucking 4feet 9 guy walking around like he owns this world. Anyway I gotta study so we'll continue tomorrow.

Exactly...so Ja Rule and his Murder Inc are better off singing lullabies :)
But you gotta admit Ja Rule is strong..Im not sure if this is correct but I heard him and 50 got in a fist fight in New York a long time ago and Ja Rule kicked his ass bad...again Im not sure if thats true

You gotta be kiddin me! Ja Rule beat 50? Dude 50 would give Ja Rule a crush-ass whoopin! 50 is like 1.85cm 100 kg. Ja Rule is around 1.65 65-70 kg. 50 would beat the black out of Ja Rule!. Ja Rule was involved in a browl with Nas!. I think Nas tried to punch him but his boyz stopped him. Everybody makes fun of Ja Rule because he is a small guy yet act like hardass!
50 I know would bury Ja Rule in his back yard. 50 has a pretty good size crew. Ja Rule couldnt even get close to him without getting 2 dozen bullet holes in his butt!
Thermopyles - March 1, 2005 04:10 AM (GMT)
Foriegn:
Zappa, Dream Theater, Tool, Alice in Chains, Zepplin, :headbang: Stavinsky, Beethoven (esp symphony 6), Chopen, Bella Fleck, others. Opera- Placido Domingo is the man. B)
Domestic:
Ploutarchos, Sfakianakis, Portokaloglou, Triantafyllos, Rebetika/Zeibekika (Batis, Peristeris, Vamvakarhs), others
Thermopyles - March 1, 2005 04:22 AM (GMT)
I used to listen to rap alot when I was a young'en. Eric B & Rakim, beastie boys, NWA, etc... The beats are just too monotonous to listen to anymore. You listen to Greek music, and that has passion, flavour, soul. Many styles and rythems/signatures. Most rap is crap compared to Greek sh!t. Yeea B)
American rock/metal is some great stuff, though. I really enjoy that almost as much as the best Greek stuff! :headbang:
Dragases - March 1, 2005 07:09 AM (GMT)
I've been playing bouzouki for last three years, so I listen to a lot of Rebetika & old Laika.
Rebetika
Markos Vamvakaris, Vasilis Tsitsanis, Giorgos Mouflouzelis, Giorgos Mitsakis,
Apostolos Nikolaidis, Loukas Daralas, Takis Binis.
Laika (Old)
Stelios Kazantzidis, Grigoris Bithikotsis, Giannis Poulopoulos, Rena Koumioti,
Marinella, Rita Sakellariou, Stratos Dionysiou, Spyros Zagoraios, Dimitris Mitropanos,
and most stuff written by Lefteris Papadopoulos & Mimis Plessas.
Laika (New)
Giorgos Dalaras, Ploutarhos, Giannis Kotsiras.
There aren't many singers/artist around now that impress me. Most of the
zeimbekika/hasapika sound too similar nowdays - they must all be using the
same template when writing songs.
Hard Rock/Heavy Metal
KISS, Dokken, Queensryche, Iron Maiden, John Norum, Led Zeppelin,
Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Megadeth, Metallica.
I've seen KISS five times in concert... they rule!
Oh, and I don't mind the occasional Tsamiko...
Picard - March 1, 2005 07:32 AM (GMT)
I'm a rocker too....
Although I also like bands like Slayer, Megadeth, Testament, etc., my first priority is American Metal (Hair Metal or Glam Rock) of the 80's and 90's.
My favorites are:
David Lee Roth
L.A. Guns
Whitesnake
Shotgun Messiah
Ratt
Motley Crue
Poison
Warrant
Winger
WASP
Skid Row
Dokken
Faster Pussycat
Firehouse
Tigertailz
......and the list goes ever on and on and on and on..... :headbang:
My other favorites:
Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, Alice Cooper, Dream Theater, Queensyrche, etc. :headbang: :headbang:
Thank God, most of these bands are still alive and coming up with new albums.
Overall, Iron Maiden still remains as my number 1 dream band, although it is not Glam Rock.
I'm currently in process of getting used to the new-generation kids like Limp Bizkit, Creed, Korn, Bush, etc.... Well, I like them too but there are no guitar solos anymore that I'm used to.
Other than Heavy Metal, I only enjoy listening to Classical Music, especially on Radio Hacettepe. I very much enjoy going to the Presidential Symphony Orchestra and Bilkent Symphony Orchestra performances in Ankara.
Alepou 340MB - March 1, 2005 12:08 PM (GMT)

I also just found out Tony Yayo is out of jail!!!! This is awesome. This guy is
the best in G-Unit!!
Koursaros - March 1, 2005 07:14 PM (GMT)
I like pretty much anything that sounds good to me. From Greek folklore to classical music. One can't stand rap, really heavy metal and most of r'n'b though.
I started my musical education with classic rock, so it's one of my favourite kinds.
PINDOS - March 2, 2005 10:17 AM (GMT)
I like many music styles, but i mainly listen to rap. I especially have a weak heart for that nice oldschool rap. I also like music on which you can get woman in a nice mood, old soul hits (eg sexual healing), and more recent r&b hits (eg. keith sweat, some songs of R.Kelly).
About 50c i do not like all of his music. I find his music mailny bullshit. However I read your discussion and the correct news, is that 50c did beat Ja rule. if i am not mistaken he even stole some of Ja's 'bling bling' hahaha, and to continue my lessons on rap, if I am not mistaken eminem raps about this incident in his single 'toy soldiers'. To continue I do not like ja rule, in my eyes he tries to imitate DMX, I don't like ashanti either, their music isn't inspired. What I mean with inspired, you can't tell me that a 50c or a Ja rule have created their music by "feeling" it, it's too commercial. Personally I believe they can't be compared with eg. Outkast or a Jay-z.

| Jay Z are forgive me for saying this but gagsta wanna bees. (aka bitch ass niggaz) Some of them just act like hardass |
and to correct your beliefs about Jay-Z, he had to hustle when he was a youngster (this is the reason that Beyonces dad doesn't like the fact that Jay-z has a relatiuonship with his daughter), so he probably knows the streats quite well. His freestyle skills are amazing and what is even more amazing is that achieved what he achieved all by himself (he created his own record company).
ABout other music styles, I also enjoy listening 80's hits. And Greek laika.. The music I really dislike is heavy metal; hardcore/jungle -I do like some dance-trance numbers-...
Uski - March 2, 2005 05:16 PM (GMT)
Yea Outkast is awesome too
Cid - March 4, 2005 10:57 PM (GMT)
I like most kinds of music, Turkish pop, traditional, rock, techno, trance, rmb, jazz.
I even like to listen classical music (sometimes hehe)
However when I am a long time behind the PC, I listen often to lounge music from all over the world, it really relaxes me B)
Egeli - March 6, 2005 03:28 AM (GMT)
My favorite 'singers':
Zara, Yavuz Bingol, Orhan Hakalmaz, Tolga Candar, Mehmet Demirtas, Hakan Alkar, and Arif Sag. They're folk artists...
DouriosYpnos - March 7, 2005 04:16 PM (GMT)
When it comes to music the word is Rock... and everything having to do with it... from Blues to modern Electro-Goth German groups...
My great old loves that remain and will remain are "Jethro Tull" and "Pink Floyd"
My new love, a Norwegian band called "Madrugada"
I own two beautifull Ibanez quitars too that i unfortunately play rarely now...
Efeler - March 9, 2005 02:56 AM (GMT)
I enjoy a plethora of music types... but lately I've been going back memory lane and listening to some old Turkish tunes from the 70's. Many of you youngters (Turkish) may not be too familier with these albums...
1970's Ajda Pekkan "Hosgur Sen"

(Nice pop music)
1970's Sezen Aksu "Serce"

(Very nice songs including some Turku's)
Baris Manco / Kurtalan Ekspres

(many nice "re-made" Turkish Anatolian folk songs)
Tanju Okan

(Many of his songs are very sad/romantic and will bring tears to your eyes)
I am in a continuing quest since 1999 to find old Kurtalan Ekspres and Tanju Okan songs. If anyone has any suggestions or good websites please telll me...

You probably tried Kazaa?
Efeler - March 9, 2005 04:36 AM (GMT)
Yes, to no avail. Mostly newer or more well known songs appear there.
For instance I have a very nice Baris Manco instrumental (piano) piece originally recorded off a record about 30 years ago. It lasts about 5 minutes, with no vocals/lyrics... I just can't find the original or even name of this track. I even took the tape with me through some old music stores in the side streets of Istanbul. They said I had something quite rare which most likely could not be found anymore, anywhere... They said it was most likely a small instrumental piece from Kurtalan Ekspres...
I also bought at least 2-3 Baris Manco MP3 CD's (you know the ones that contain 200 songs for $2), hoping I could come across it... Nada.
Anyways.... :dunno:
orko_8 - March 9, 2005 06:04 AM (GMT)
Started with Pantera, Sepultura, Iron Maiden, Manowar and Metallica a long time ago... Personally I dont know much rappers, most famous are Cartel and Ceza/Nefret. Those are what I can think of with Turkish rap.
Cartel is very old doesnt exist anymore, they were among the first with Turkish rap. Dont know if they have a website, but some of the members still make rap.
And you have Ceza who also is part of the group Nefret. Here is his site:
