The only thing stupider than the people being interviewed is the intent of the interviewers to make Americans look stupid. This is a dumbed down interview for dumbed down viewers.

Are there stupid Americans? Sure. Just like stupid Greeks, stupid Turks, stupid Germans. If you want to interview a handful of them, I imagine you can make the nation they came from look pretty stupid. If that's your objective, it's a shallow one.

One question for this interviewer, who appears to be an Aussie by his accent: How many men has Australia put on the moon? How many high-tech leading industry in Australia? How many Nobel Laureates hail from Australia? What technology did Australia develop from the beginning, or even develop after someone else started it?

TV is pablum for the masses, by and large. Mostly because it's been dumbed down to appeal to the lowest common denominator. This interview is ample evidence of that.

yes there are dumb people everywhere, its a fact. But the problem with Americans is that they think the whole world is the US. They have no concept that there is "the rest of the world" out there. Its almost as if the system wants them to be like that for whatever reason. I remember when I first came to US, and people would ask me "do you have TV in Greece? Do you have cars? what language do you speak? :damn: :damn: I got in more fights than I can count because of ignorant hot dogs that thought I was stupid or retarded because my english was not good... IMO its quite true that people in other counrties will have a much better idea that there are other cultures, values and ways of life more than the americans will know. A simple example out of many: "interrogations" in Iraq. They treat the avarage Iraqi POW far worse than they ever treated high-ranking Nazi officials. Just do some reaserch on questioning techniques on Nazis, and look at what they do to regular people today. The interogators most of the time don't even speak the language, let alone understand the culture.

The US was the greatest research center just like China now nothing more nothing less.more than half of their scintists were foreigners.
And in a society under dictatorship whose media are fully controlled and the people have nothing to do with the rest of the people living around the globe yes its citizens get to be the most idiotic ones of all... I still remember how the people acted after the 9/11 attacks(?)..Another brilian example of high intellect is the fact that a very big percentage among the young usicans thought that the story of lord of the rings was the medieval history of europe.... I guess attila was morgoth...
