Just a query. Has a law been passed by the Greek Government saying that our airforce is not to be armed when flying over the Aegean? Or, is this the case only when the TAF abides by some agreement not to fly armed sorties? Just seems strange as in the potential of an attack by the TAF, how could the HAF be prepared to counter it if the jets aren't armed in time.....

Well you know that for quite some time now THK fighters enter our space armed,this normaly happens during wartime operations.....
While our fighters engage them defenceless most of the time because we are not considered to be in war with someone..

And yes, lately (last few years) TUAF has a portion of their fighters over the aegean armed. As for us, I belive that when we go for anaxetisi (interception I think) we must be armed, or else we are just dogs with no teeth...

I agree. I fail to see any benefits in such an agreement, unless their is real political willingness to make concerted changes, especially on Turkey's side. And to do that, you need a number of Turkish institutions to come to some agreement first. Something which I see as being very difficult (i.e. Military institution vs. political institution).

I recent example involved the F-16 pilot, Hliakis. And from what I understand the Turkish jets as part of their objective to fly reconnaissance missions over Crete, were armed.
