I watched the trailer and I felt like it was a graphic novel in realtime.
When they announced this movie, I thought they would make a realistic movie version of the graphic novel.

ciao ghost,this is based on frank millers grafic novel like the movie SIN CITY same style and performance , we all hoped that they will make the GATES OF FIRE the realistic movie about the battle but i thing we going to wait 10 years for GATES of FIRE ,so have fun with the 300 at least is not so bad its a new style of movies ...

I am half Laconian so I am looking forward to a movie made about my people the Laconians. Recently Hollywood made another movie about my other half the Acheans called Troy and I did not like it. Hollywood does not need people half Achean and half Laconian, but stronger than both, mad at them.

I have read the English version of the comic and then bought the Greek translation of 300. I noticed in one passage it says:

"ERXONTAI APO THN TEGEA KAI THN MANTINEIA... APO TIS 8ESPIES KAI TH 8HBA KAI TON OPOYNTA KAI THN FOKIDA KAI TA MALLOIA." ... Book 2 of 5 page18(it is not numbered but I counted from the opening page)

Malloia that is being referred to is now modern Molaoi, right?

The only thing i don't like is exactly the nature of the movie....this comic style thing is just too fictional.....the subject looks to be good and of course not messing up the historical facts, but still we have to see the actual film.....

Trelo agori, fictional or not, I think we all are gonna like it... Keep your appetite till someone makes real Pressfield's Gates of Fire... :attention: :attention:

The movie judging from the trailer follows the novel step by step even the artwork is the same(i have frank millers 300 novel).

From what i know george clooneys company bought the rights for the gates of fire.My guess is that we'll have to wait 2-3 years till we see the gates of fires taking flesh.

What can I say. Frank Miller may make nice comics but he should read some godamn history. The life of ambassadors was sacred in Greece and the Spartans were the most godfearing Greeks. After battles they would never take anything from the dead like many others did. Not to mention that the Ephors were eclected every year and served as army officers. They were NOT disgusting inbreds that schemed in their secluded hilltop.

Koursare don't go berserk...Remember TROY..... Other than that we must keep in mind that the whole movie goes step by step with the comic book.Now as far as the ambassador concerned i think spartans did throw one in a well...

Nice trailer but some details are WRONG ,the Horse Hair plume on the helmet of Leonidas has to be horizontal like it seams for a high Lakonian Officer even a King.
And the Lakonian swords have a leaf blade and they are not more then 30cm
this swords are more like a Kopis or a Machaira.

Come on guys, get over it, they will never follow historical, cultural, geographical, technical elements of that time... So, don't bother smashing your nerves... :D
