Here are the most important points:

1.The 31 MEE was founded about 10 years ago.The motive was that Gulf and Yugoslavian war taught that the Air Force needed a specialized team in order to extract stranded pilots behind enemy lines.

2.The first men were trained by the special forces of the Army and the Navy.Today they have developed their own methods and training scenarios.All members are professional soldiers who have volunteered for the unit and most of them have already served in other special forces.

3.The mission of the 31 MME (apart CSAR) is :

a.To provide First Aid

b.Extracting injured and collecting the remnants form aircraft crashes(on Land,Sea and Underwater)

c.Instalation of communications nets in order to support its missions.

d.Protection of sensitive HAF instalations - Counter enemy sabotage missions.

e.Protections of HAF transports during missions in Greece and abroad.

f.Participation in Humanitarian missions.
