Title: Picture at the front page

saladin - August 8, 2006 04:47 PM (GMT)
I think the picture is great. However, can we reduce the height by half or more? Whenever I open a page, more than half of my screen goes to the picture. I know, I can use adblock to block the picture but still I think it would have been better to have a smaller picture.

Could it be your settings? Mine seems ok... Anyone else have this problem?

Mystik - August 9, 2006 06:45 PM (GMT)
It's Ok with me too,The image rocks

Is the size of it ok, or does it expand your screen?

saladin - August 9, 2006 09:41 PM (GMT)
My screen resolution is 1280x1024. The image size is 983x413, considering the browser buttons, menu and url bar half of the browser space is gone by the image. I thought others may have similar problems. I can find alternative solutions.

Well, Saladin

I logged on from my work pc and the picture was too big-actualy the whole forum was too big-and expanded the page alot, making me have to scroll left to right to read it all.

You know pc's better than me, can we change our settings so the page will fit? Because at my other pc everything fits perfectly... :doubt:

That depends on what you want to do and how much control you have on the forum's website. If you don't mind scaling the image by half, that is the easiest option. However, the forumers with high resolution monitors may see smaller images. The best option would have been an adaptive image, based on the browser size. It is possible, but it depends on how much Invisionfree lets you change the html code of the forum. If it is possible to edit html, then I can do that easily. Otherwise, it is still possible with some tricks.

Hades, Would you like to put in your two cents about the situation? Does Invision offer us what Saladin said? I imagine with the adaptive image size, the image will still look the same to everyone, regardless of monitor resolution, no?

We set the size like this because it appeared to small for some members...
i dont excactly what Hades could change...
Saladin did you try to change the settings from your windows?

saladin - August 10, 2006 05:20 PM (GMT)
My monitor can not go higher than 1280x1024, I don't know if there is any other way to change the relative size of the picture. Of course, I can modify the way I view the forum (just like I did for the filtering). As I said earlier, I understand that nobody else is complaining about this issue, and I can individually solve it so lets leave it like that.

Saladin, I'd like you to share how you can fix it, for my work PC and for any future reference, if you don't mind :thanks: :friendship:

saladin - August 11, 2006 03:08 PM (GMT)
Sure,
I will create a dummy forum at invisionfree to see what we are permitted to do.

Am sorry for the late reply guys, am still on vacation, and will be back on Wednesday... I will be glad to make any adjustments if necessary, it's been a long time since I last got my self working on that matter and can't tell for sure about permissions. If not mistaken the pic is adjusted to work on 1024 pixels, and the same goes for the whole forum skin structure... I will get on it asap upon my return... Cheers mates
