George Soros, known as the magician of money, bought the shares of Turkish soccer club Galatasaray at Istanbul Stock Exchange yesterday.

Soros Fun Management LLC became the new partner in Galatasaray Sportif Co., suffering an economic strait.

On Friday, the 21.05 percent of Galatasaraf Sportif was sold to CAIB Corporate Finance Limited for 51.404 million new Turkish liras.

Galatasaray Sportif announced they sold 428,367 shares for 120 new Turkish liras each. Galataray now holds 62.93 percent of total shares.

Perhaps its just me but I dont like Football clubs selling her shares on the Stock Exchange, because then they are going to be organised on entrepeneur principles seeking profit and they will buy/sell players based on profit. Making money is their only goal instead of creating a strongly bonded team. Just look at Ajax, after they went to the Stock Exchange they have never been the same, the once great team and legendary team is reduced to a small corporation with mediocre achievments.

It is be difficult to deny the existence of antagonisms between capital and culture.

That is to say, neglect cultural aspects while focusing on capital accumulation.

The question might be:

What is the sense of the attempt to "capitalize" every aspect of human life ?

Bad news for Fenerbahçe.
I would like to see Abramovic buying GS shares too.Galatasaray may win champions cup next year.

Indeed Lord.

One could come to the hypothesis that the free movement of capital is the humanized version of pure biological laws the survival of the fittest; this connection has already been established by Herbert Spencer in a very similar way.

George Soros
Founder and Chairman

George Soros was born in Budapest, Hungary on August 12, 1930. He survived the Nazi occupation of Budapest and left communist Hungary in 1947 for England, where he graduated from the London School of Economics (LSE). While a student at LSE, Soros became familiar with the work of the philosopher Karl Popper, who had a profound influence on his thinking and later on his professional and philanthropic activities.

The financier. In 1956, Soros moved to the United States, where he began to accumulate a large fortune through an international investment fund he founded and managed. Today he is chairman of Soros Fund Management LLC.

The philanthropist. Soros has been active as a philanthropist since 1979, when he began providing funds to help black students attend the University of Cape Town in apartheid South Africa. Today he is chairman of the Open Society Institute (OSI) and the founder of a network of philanthropic organizations that are active in more than 50 countries. Based primarily in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union—but also in Africa, Latin America, Asia, and the United States—these foundations are dedicated to building and maintaining the infrastructure and institutions of an open society. They work closely with OSI to develop and implement a range of programs focusing on civil society, education, media, public health, and human rights as well as social, legal, and economic reform. In recent years, OSI and the Soros foundations network have spent more than $400 million annually to support projects in these and other focus areas. In 1991, Soros founded Central European University, with its primary campus in Budapest.

The author and philosopher. Soros is the author of eight books, including The Bubble of America Supremacy: Correcting the Misuse of American Power (PublicAffairs, January 2004); George Soros on Globalization (2002); The Alchemy of Finance (1987); Opening the Soviet System (1990); Underwriting Democracy (1991); Soros on Soros: Staying Ahead of the Curve (1995); The Crisis of Global Capitalism: Open Society Endangered (1998); and Open Society: Reforming Global Capitalism (2000). His articles and essays on politics, society, and economics regularly appear in major newspapers and magazines around the world.

George Soros's political activities are wholly separate from the Open Society Institute. Read an official OSI statement on this subject.

An Grey Wolf...i dont bather to see as an enemy...Iam just laughing abouted...
(reason? I can see hem...standing against Greece so he is a easy target...he is easy to handle...no big deal...simply blind fanatism wiythout any serious power to hurt my country...)
Soros >?
Stands in the top five list of enemys of Greece...with power in hes hands

Thats why it would be maybe better for us (greeks) if the German would do there jobs better back than...in the 40s...(and iam not joking abouted)
You have to know...that except fanatic antihellenes...I hate Skopians...reguardless if they like greeks or not...I juts hate thiefs and provocateurs...

One could esteem this as a battle fought by human species.

The amount of "applied capital" here is equivalent to one´s ability to assert his interests.

Lord - April 17, 2006 11:44 AM (GMT)
Yes thats why iam allways afraid...of rich Philanthropists... ;)

especially if they are anti- hellens...

123-t - April 17, 2006 12:03 PM (GMT)
Potentially (or unfortunately; depending on one´s view) one antitoxin to safeguard your interests is to "hoist one by his own petard".

Or a better way has to be found...

Lord - April 17, 2006 12:06 PM (GMT)
Hm...you mean it could be going wrong to rise the ethicon of the people...?

with such actions..?

123-t - April 17, 2006 12:19 PM (GMT)
This was rather an approach to the question which means are the most adequate in order to assert one´s interests best.
