Jewish Lobby Pokes in Oscar Awards
The Jewish lobby in America is exerting enormous effort to prevent the film, Paradise Now, based on the story of two Palestinian suicide bombers, from winning an Oscar.
According to the Israeli newspaper, Yediot Ahronot, the Jewish community has protested the international success of a film about two Palestinians, who attempt to commit a suicide attack in Tel Aviv.
The newspaper reported the Academy was being pressured not to vote for Paradise Now, in which the suicide bombers are depicted as ordinary people, and underlined that the Israeli government took action in "different methods."
According to Yediot Ahronot, Israel's Los Angeles Council General Ehud Danoch and media and public affairs official Gilad Millo have already been guaranteed by the Academy that it will not show Palestinian Hani Abu Asad's film at the Oscars Ceremony.
