FIFA has ordered Turkey to play their next six competitive matches behind closed doors and on neutral ground following the incidents at their FIFA World Cup qualifying play-off against Switzerland in November.

Six official home games
The world governing body's disciplinary committee decided that the Turkish Football Association (TFF) must "play its next six official home games behind closed doors in a neutral venue in another country affiliated to UEFA with a minimum distance of 500km to the Turkish border". The TFF has also been fined €130,000 for the trouble that marred the second-leg match in Istanbul on 16 November, plus procedural costs which amount to the same.

Players punished
In addition, Turkey players Alpay Özalan and Emre Belözoglu have been banned for the national team's next six competitive games, as well as being handed €10,000 fines. Team-mate Serkan Balcý is suspended for two official internationals and forced to pay €3,000, while Turkey assistant coach Mehmet Özdilek has been banned from taking part in any football-related activity for 12 months and received a €10,000 fine.

Right of appeal
Switzerland player Benjamin Huggel was also suspended for six competitive matches and fined €10,000. The other sanction taken against the Swiss team was a two-game ban for physiotherapist Stephan Meyer, who was also the recipient of a €4,000 fine. All fines have supplementary costs. According to FIFA: "With the exception of the decisions against Serkan Balcý and Stephan Meyer, all other decisions may be taken to the FIFA appeal committee, before the Court of Arbitration for Sport may be called upon to act as the body of final instance with accordance with FIFA statutes."

If Turkish've got the right for an appeal, then things may change, then the penalty'll be reduced,so guys let us don't rush for a conclusion.I also believe FIFA made a step beyond the line of punishment.

Too much arrogance and belief in yourselves' abilities may have opposite results... Anyway, I share your confidence and wish you all the best... We'll be around here to discuss if you were right or not, time will tell...

Clearday-TRForce - February 9, 2006 09:33 AM (GMT)
What arrogance? Arrogance is not in my wallet. It has a different meaning than I mention here.Confidence...not arrogance.

Short Translation: Turkeys appeal was rejected and the 6 game penalty will remain. The Turkish Federation has the right to appeal again in CAS(International Sports court)but it is estimated that the new appeal wont have much luck.
