Title: Memories of Murder
Cid - January 25, 2006 11:29 PM (GMT)
This detective movie is based on actual murders in South Korea performed by a serial killer. I found it a very good and impressive movie and if you dont mind non-Hollywood movies, definitely recommendable.

Thanks for the recommendation.
Are there any special asian features in the movie ?

What do you mean with special asian futures?
The movie has a good story and also shows South Korean society in the 80's with demonstrations everywhere and harsh police brutality. Especially the ending was good.

Asian features, Asian characteristics
That is to say not to adapt to the typical American detective scheme. Something that makes a distinction to that.

Well Koreans movies are Korean LOL I mean that it does not attempt to go all Hollywood. Its just a modern movie, with characters with whom we all can identify with, not Hollywood action heroes nor distinct asian characters like martial art masters. It does show Korean society so some of the actors movements and behaviour may seem odd from the perspective of your own culture, but I dont think you would have problems of being too narrow minded

Ah and I thought they would revive Mr. Miyagi (in a South Korean version) ... narrow minded ;)

Hahahahahahaha
No stereotype asian masters. Just a good detective story.

In that case they revive Jackie Chan.
By the way, have you seen New Police Story ?
Cid - January 26, 2006 01:09 PM (GMT)
Yes its a good movie, but also has some flaws. I find the actors a bit overacting, especially Jackie. but the movie was a good change after all those comedy-action he made.
Although also an action comedy his best movie is:

Again, thanks for the review.

A Tale of Two sisters & My Sassy Girl my all time favorite Korean movies..
They have some thrillers and romantic comedies..
Jackies San Wa (The Myth) was a true change from his usual style. Tho the movie was not the best of the best i'd give it an 8 out of 10 .. Very nice costume design and fight scenes designed well as usual.. But it was the Korean beauty that made me love the movie B)
