You probably wanted to say "Sections of"....I thought that Greece took over the production of remaining submarines after the first one built in Germany...What does exactly Greece make in the project?

Pytheas - February 22, 2006 03:40 PM (GMT)
Well, I know that the 3rd (of the 6) part is made completely in Germany...

I am surprised too seeing that the front (6th) part is also made in Germany. I knew that all the external hull is made in METKA steel company in Greece... :sbof:

robust,

The front section of ALL submarines (including the three being built in Hellas) is built in Germany. This is the section with the torpedo tubes. The rest of the submarine hull is built locally (mostly by METKA).

Does anyone know the time frame when the first U214 will arrive at greece and will be introduced?

Papanikolis was supposed to be accepted by the Hellenic Navy back in September 2005, but because it is totaly a brand new system and it introduces alone a whole new class, and the integration takes some extra time, HDW asked for a delay of the delivery time, and they got it untill June 2006.

They are paying huge ammounts of hot money for each month of the delay, but the good news is that greece will have the mightiest dragon under our waters, with no flaws, when he will be delivered. :)

You can see the consoles of the ISUS 90-15 combat management and weapons control system, and the Attack Periscope SERO 400EO in the center.
(scanned by the Hellenic Defence magazine of June 2006)

Almost every source on the net says that Type 214 uses Carl Zeiss SERO 14 and SERO 15 periscopes. It is positively clear from the above photos that PN's Papanikolis class have Carl Zeiss SERO 400 (the one on the Alepou's post) and OMS 100 non hull penetrating optronic mast. (I don't know if there is a designation confusion by the way)

By the way, I can't see Dead Reckoning table?
