Captain Harlock

:hathello:

I put off the hat for ya!!! :drink:

Some more clues on the biography of Captain Harlock, the Space Pirate, that caused massive hysteria in Japan and Europe (US is quite immature for such kind of anime... :P ) :

Captain Harlock

Captain of the space pirate ship Arcadia, approximately twenty-eight years of age. Harlock feels disillusioned with the earth and his people, and has left to seek his destiny in the Sea of Stars (what we less bombastic folks call "space"). He has not forsaken his home, nor completely lost hope in humanity, he merely seeks a higher standard. Those who choose to accompany him aboard the Arcadia are bound by no oath beyond the promise to fight for their own beliefs. His priorities lie in personal honor and duty to his conscience above any sense of prescribed duty to the State; an Objectivist or an Anarchist, depending on your point of view. While an historical pirate fought only for personal wealth, Harlock's status as a pirate is earned by his defiance of the system. Rock on, man!

he grew up in Heiligenstadt, Austria, where he met Maya, the woman who may have been his wife .

In spite of all his efforts, Harlock always remains unwelcome on earth, but continues to struggle for his world's safety regardless, and invariably returns to his vigil even after securing earth's victory over its invaders.

And an intresting quote about the scars on his face that I really like:

QUOTE
It represents sacrifice.

It symbolizes the price of fighting the good fight and living on one's own terms.

It is the cost of freedom and defiance, a fact which comes across again and again.

Now I'm thrilled.. :ar15:

I chose Captain harlock's image for avatar cause it looks cool and mysterious, but also cause I kinda like his anarchist beliefs about total human freedom, uprooting of the evil and society's corruption, etc!! user posted image

Another equal cool thing apart Captain Harlock Himself in the cartoon series, is his magnificent Pirate spaceship, the terror of all space, the one called ARCADIA (greek name)

Sorry dont know the one you mentioned. Yes I am an anime fan, but I am more into anime movies or the manga's instead of the series. And yes generally animes are for an older public, in Japan not only childeren but even more adults watch animations or read comics (manga's)

My fav anime series are:

-Rurouni Kenshin (Renegade swordmaster during the Meiji-Era, an era when samurai's became jobless and carrying swords illegal)
-Taiho shichauzo ( Everyday adventures in Tokyo of 2 female police officers with each unique personalities)
-Naruto (Ninja's in training)
-Teknoman (Guy with an alien bodysuit armor defending earth against the very same alian invasion, a lott of dramatic moments. Together with Macross this is the best mecha-anime)
-Cowboy Bebop (Bounty hunters in space, love the old school detective style and its blues and jazz background music)
-Samurai Deeper Kyo (The souls of 2 rival samurai's (1 evil and 1 good) get trapped in 1 body. Interestingly you get to know the evil side much beter and understand his perspective.
-Detective Conan (Youngest detective ever)

here are pictures in the same order:

-Rurouni Kenshin:
One of the best anime ever ... Simply Superb!!! I'm a big fan , but the last episodes are geting very tiring... :damn: Obviously they run out of inspiration in the end..

I'm planning to download all the episodes :D And the 25 GB of them!!

-Taiho shichauzo:
-Teknoman :
Never heard of these, sorry.. :(

-Naruto:
Very well known anime, but I'm afraid I've never watched it... :dunno:

-Cowboy Bebop:
Another perfect manga!!! user posted image
I was tempted to put a picture of Spike smoking his cigar, but I ended up to Captain Harlock... Also Corto Maltese was highly considered, but they will have the honour to decorate my posts in the future!!! user posted image

-Samurai Deeper Kyo:
Dunno' about it either, but it seems very nice... I'll check on it when I'll have available download bandwidth.

-Detective Conan:
LOL, I have seen it broadcasted in the TV for the children in children-primetime-hours... Seems too childish...

hmm..well my latest favorite is an old timer named Golden Boy in western hemisphere. Watch it, extremely funny but contains some ecchi(naugty/partial nudity) scenes.
All the animes/mangas mentioned about are fun to watch. Especially Naruto, but they all lack the detail quality that modern animation movies have. Like Appleseed for instance or Howls moving Castle.
