All I can say is that as long as the conversation is civil, then one can should be able to walk away if they don't agree without hard feelings.

A sign of respect to an "opponent" to ones point of view is to wind down the conversation after a few rounds. This should be done by BOTH parties without regard as to who has the "last word".

It would be a huge injustice not to publicly praise and thank the administration team of the forum in the way they handled this issue. I do this not because I feel "vindicated" in any regard, but rather because they tried their best in finding a mutually acceptable compromise. I am truly saddened that this was not possible and that U-BOOT chose to leave.

While I have been contemplating my role here, I have always considered what is in the best interest of the members. Having a valued member (also of the administration) depart is clearly a negative development, and I bear some responsibility for that. At the same time however, I cannot allow my right to freedom of expression to be suppressed. This is the dilemma I face (personal rights vs. effect on forum), and why I opt to refrain from posting. I was also hoping that my reaction would permit U-BOOT to reconsider.

After almost a year of posting in this forum, it was quite disheartening to be labeled a slanderer and propagandist. I believe that my writings over the past year should be an indication of both my character and any objectives I might have (or not). To be forced to repeatedly defend myself against such characterizations is uncalled for, and something I do not wish repeating.

Anyway, best luck to Hades and the rest of the administration team in combating the elements that are trying to disrupt this forum (and they appear to have multiplied recently).

Bro for sure. You are a person of character and always support your views well. You are a patriot, noone can argue that regardless of views. The same can be said of my uncle, the "communist". That was the point of the 28 October thread, to honour all Hellines. Personaly I didn't wave a problem with the articulation of your view, only that it was done at a very innapropriate time. I certainly don't think that either you nor Uboot should leave over this. I hope we all can just learn a lesson from this, put it behund us, and move along together...

This is going to me my last comment on this subject (and I am writting this in English as it pertains to all members).

He has and I have done everything possible (that I can think of) to make him change his mind about leaving.

And now to the argument:

Hold on there! His grandfather fought for Hellas, not the communist ideology. For that I called him (and ANYONE that fought for Hellas) a patriot and a hero. This does not however mean that we should not expose the FACTS about the traitorous actions of the KKE (which I did with DIRECT QUOTES of their own leader). Anyone can feel free to review what I stated in that thread, and tell me if at any time I made any attack against his family members.

I didn't make my comments on Oct. 28th, not that it makes a difference anyway. So are we to establish a "thought police" where X number of days prior to or after an event we cannot discuss a subject? I'd also like for you to compare what other (pro-communist) publications write on certain dates. The thread I started had to deal more with REVISIONISM rather than the specific chapter on Metaxas (since he is a prime target).

The aim of any open and democratic forum is to expose readers to new thought-provoking information. This information can obviously come from the "other" side, be it a different nationality or political viewpoint. To establish rules about what can or cannot be discussed is incompatible with every democratic principle.

So you would prefer it if the mods censored comments based on certain sensitivities (of their own or of another member)? Where do we draw the line? When I quoted Zachariades? When U-BOOT posted "fascist" salutes? When I wrote about Frizis? When U-BOOT posted comments about EAM? I'd like to see a model where censorship has been applied uniformly without suppression of democratic rights.

And obviously more dates will come up where essentially one side will be heard, while the other will be silent. I'm sure some will object to any voice from the "other" side.

Anyway, it is your forum (meaning all members) and you can ask the administration to apply any rules to your liking.
