ghostface killa - October 22, 2005 11:14 AM (GMT)
Who has already played age of empires 3?
I got it 2 weeks ago.
It's a cool game and the Ottomansare also in it.
They have good artillery and good gunpowder units.

Cid - October 22, 2005 11:19 AM (GMT)
It takes place during the colonial era right?
I have a nephew who is an expert in this game, he build Gigantic armies

Anyway I will get it soon, especially since the Ottomans are in it.

The home town is a really good invention since it can provide with additional resources in harsh situations.

ghostface killa - October 24, 2005 08:44 AM (GMT)
yes indeed. The single player campaign is relatively short, but the deathmatch and domination mode ad longer gameplay.

i like the game , only played a little test runs so far.. I couldnt see if huge maps are selectable for skirmish.. anyone know if there is such option to choose map size?

Damn... I bought it, but couldn't play because it only plays on XP and I have W2K. I took it back and traded it for SIMS2. :( :( :(

Shame on you Bill Gates!

Actually I don't care so much for AoE III ! I am much more interested to play Civilazation 4!Unfortunatelety I am too busy right now,so I guess that it has to wait until Xmas holidays.... ;)

beleg - October 30, 2005 12:44 PM (GMT)
Can it because AOE3 doesnt have Greeks? ;)
otoh Civ4 doesnt have Turks but has Greeks :hammer:..
I will still play it tho because i always liked Civ series. I hope they add us in the expansion.

StrategyMaster - October 30, 2005 04:17 PM (GMT)
AOE3 really rocks but i wait Civ4 too.I'am very surprised not to see Turks/Ottomans in the game they were a popular in Civ3.I think they will add us in upcaoming expansion to make us say hey look they add real cool civs in this expansion! it may be a marketing strategy to omit some major civs.

beleg - October 30, 2005 05:59 PM (GMT)
Hehe lord ,no .. The Mongols are there..as well as the Greeks and Romans :P

Probably i will be playing the game by monday.. AOE 3 still has many bugs and as long as i play Ottomans PC is not a rival even in hard settings.. The Imperial Bombard just rocks..

ROFL...yeap i know even Cid Meier makes mistakes...ahhahahahaha

cameleon1975 - October 30, 2005 06:37 PM (GMT)
I didn't knew that there were no Greeks in AoE III.But thinking about it now,its logical since the timespan of the game is between 1500 to 1800(more or less) and placed on the American Continent.Anyway,I always prefered the Civ series(and yes I played always with the greeks  ) to AoEs.

I hope that they make a new Age of Mythology series too! :applause:

beleg - October 30, 2005 07:37 PM (GMT)
I was never a fan of AoE and prefer Civ over AoE anyday.. I am a bit disappointed there are no Turks in Civ4 but still i am sure it will be a great game.. Well i better get myself adjusted to lesser civilisations :D :sarcasm: :naughty:

123-t - October 30, 2005 09:10 PM (GMT)
Both the AoE and Civ series are bad because they are highly-addictive.

StrategyMaster - October 30, 2005 10:56 PM (GMT)
LoL you are right Lord Sipahi rush real trouble. :naughty:

A lot of people asking what happened to Turks/Ottomans in Civ4 Forums i think players are not happy with the decision omitting civs like Koreans/Turks(Ottomans)/Vikings,Dutch...etc

Cid - October 30, 2005 10:59 PM (GMT)
I have AE3 and I liked it very much. I never liked its previous releases but this one is pretty good. The Ottomans have awesome artillery and gunners. THe Civilization series are awesome too, but they are very different kind of strategy I think. Same goes for Rome Total War.

cameleon1975 - November 7, 2005 11:43 AM (GMT)
Which Civilizations are there in AoE 3?Are there native americans too? They would be my first choice if i ever play this game!

Cid - November 7, 2005 01:59 PM (GMT)
Well you have the Ottomans, British, French, Dutch, Russians, Spanish, German and Porteguese (not shure). You cannot play the native americans but you can become allies with them. There are almost all the natives of the america's, from Iroquois to Inca. And they are pretty important to ally with. I must say although this game is very fun to play, it lacks a bit the strategy. MOst of the stategy is to choose which technology development you want firstm it's more building troops and attack and not much of diplomacy like RTW and CIV. I am looking forward to Civ IV.

beleg - November 7, 2005 02:02 PM (GMT)
Camelon only the major world powers during 1500s exist in the game.
Ottomans,Russians,Dutch,French,British,Spanish.. Natives exist on maps as small towns which if you build in a trade post you can hire their warriors or use their technologies to improve your troops. overall they dont effect the gameplay much while i can buy 7-8 imperrial bombards under protection of 10 or so sipahis/hussars and destroy every moving thing on map i wouldnt buy their punny soldiers..

Cid - November 7, 2005 02:05 PM (GMT)
Beleg actually the native warriors are important, you see you have a limit to the number of troops you can buil, but the native warriors could give you the edge. You could use them to guard trading routes or to keep the enemy busy while yourself are building up your colony. Also their arrowers (if fully upgraded) are quite effective against enemy artillery.

Hence you have the sipahis/hussars that will make quick work of ranged units.. Well Imperial bombard truly gives an advantage for the Ottomans since artillery units damage only enemy units .

LOL that's true.

PS do you know economic advantages/unique troops of all the other civilizatoins, because till now I only played the Ottomans and the Dutch. THe Dutch also have a bank option which will generate money, more than a plantation anyway.

PS2 Do you know what the point is of changing the buildings in your home city? They only seem to change by colour nothing else.
