Title: Ta sinora tis agapis

According to Turkish daily Radikal (http://www.radikal.com.tr/haber.php?haberno=163883), the Turkish TV series "Foreign Groom", or "Ta sinora tis agapis" if I can trust internet forums. has started shooting at Simi(?) Island. Some such as 6 year old Valencia came from Rhodos to watch the shooting. The claim is that the cast is at the center of the attraction. The Simi Mayor gave "Thank You" plaquettes to the crew of the series.

This made me wonder if there were any other attempts to broadcast Turkish series in Greece. Not suprisingly, I found that two recent hits "Asmali Konak"(http://www.alphatv.gr/index.asp?a_id=49&tv_id=5052)" and "Kurtlar Vadisi (http://www.kurtlarvadisi.com/) " were being broadcasted in Greece by the channel Alpha TV. So I wonder what do you think about these series. Have you watched them? Did you enjoy them?

I personally watched only half of an episod of "Kurtlar Vadisi", as far as I understand (and have been told) it is about advantures of an undercover police officer (Polat) while infiltrating Turkish mafia. I found the half I watched interesting but it was too bloody. I don't know if such popularity was the result of increasing aggressivenes in Turkish society nowadays, or the agressiveness was the result of such series. I was genuinly suprised and disturbed when my 12 years old niece predicted one scene. One of the mafia fathers was bailing out of the organization, one person named Kilic (Sword) left the room. At this point my niece said: "I know what is going to happen." Surely enough in a few minutes later Kilic was back in the room and killed the unsespected mafia father from behind with his sword. My niece then told me killing with the sword was the treadmark of Kilic.

I don't know if there is any plans to broadcast the Greek version of "Foreing Gloom" (forget the name) in Turkey, but it is for sure that if "Asmali Konak" and "Kurtlar Vadisi" became hits in Greece, plenty of Turkish series will appear there. I'm wondering if the same is true for other culturally similar countries such as "Bulgaria", "Romania", "Syria" and perhaps "Lebanon" and "Israil" would be interested in Turkish TV series.

Unless i m mistaken,ta sinora ths agapis was the one broadcasted in Greece this summer! With Nazli wanting to marry Nikos etc.Actually it was in turkish with greek subtitles and while i was in Greece there was the announcement that in autumn a new turkish series would be broadcasted, called "in the depths of Anatolia",again in turkish...As for if i enjoyed it,i found it funny, but this type of tv series isn't my type so never watched an entire episode. But as usually, these serials are very popular among housewives that love to see impossible love series together with mystery etc (we ve had such a greek series that has broken the guiness record with disgustingly long broadcasting and thank God finished this summer) and after a wave of Mexican telefilms, watching a non latin face is nice, plus there is of course curiocity to see the turkish way of life, houses, dressing etc etc,the usual woman stuff.

P.S:Turks speak too fast,i wasn't able to understand a single word. :D

I watched some episodes of ''Sunora ths agaphs''during my holidays in Greece while visiting my grandmother. To tell the truth,i even liked it.Its has no particular storyline and the actors are not very skilled(and are wearing the same clothes in almost all episodes)but it was still funny. It remebers me much the videotapes shoot in Greece in the early 80s and the first greek series in late 80s in private TV.I like the touch of amateurism. :applause:

I liked the baklava business of Nazli's father (how nice seeing them pouring the liquid sugar on the baklava! :D ) and i got an episode where Nazli's grandafther and Nikos grandmother agreed to simulate the kidnapping of Nikos' grandmother from supposed terrorists (who where Nazli's grandafther with some old buddies) and instead of ransom ask the cencelling of the marriage. The grandma made the "kidnappers" want to run away from her demands and bitching of her treatment (she had to stay in a hut,she was making them buying her things etc.)ROFL!That was the funniest part i ve seen.

There was another series called Kirik Ayna (broken mirror) with Kadir Inanir that I used to watch. Is it still playing?

It was about the lifestyle of a rich aga or chieften that controlled a few villages, had a couple wives and servants etc. mixed with conspiracy and drama about rivals out to get him, hehe. The houses where they lived were quite interesting and the scenery was intriguing. I believe it was filmed in Kapedokya, central anatolia. I think Asmali Konak also had a similar backdrop
