Indeed nice movies....
One of fav. movies of Pacino "Scent of a woman", although not a mafia movie.... During the whole movie he had me convinced he was blind...
A Bronx tail a appierence from DeNiro, who tries to keep his son on the right path... Indeed a nice choise....

Lord - January 19, 2005 10:49 AM (GMT)
Scent of a woman....Pindos you are right ,man....I bought even the cd for the amazing Dango...that he danced with the girl in the restaurant...before driving the ferrarie...

Al Pacino..El patre...

Cid - January 19, 2005 11:18 AM (GMT)
Glengarry Glen Ross is also a nice movie, although Al Pacino doesnt play the leading role, he is the star of the movie. He plays a very smart salesman.

Very good scenes of him is where he scolds Kevin Spacey, his boss, hehehe, very good. Also his speech in the bar is quit impressive.

DouriosYpnos - January 19, 2005 11:19 AM (GMT)
Great movies no doubt but i'm in a much different movie scene latetly...
movies like:

Lockstock and two smoking barrels
Snatch
Fight Club
Run Lola, Run
What to do in the case of fire
Pulp Fiction
Reservoir Dogs
The Game
The Usual Suspects

such staff... little, bit of mystery, little bit of action, little bit of political critisism, too much fun.. easy going alternative movies...

"Lock, stock and two smoking barrels
Snatch
Fight Club
Run Lola, Run
Reservoir Dogs
The Usual Suspects"

Great movies indeed, and I would like to add the 51st state and The Score...

Favourite quote from "... smoking barrels" when I was in UK: "Anything to declare? Yes, don't go to England!"

And another one from the 51st state, perfectly representing UK's insistence on traditional food: Samuel Jackson is hungry and the company stops at Fish&Chips cantine... Robert Carlyle throws a miserable portion of fish and chips to Samuel Jackson from the back window of the car. The latter has a look at the fish and says:

"What the f*** did they do to this fish? Batter it to death?
R. Carlyle: Fish and chips, national dish mate.
S. Jackson: More like a national disaster!"

DouriosYpnos - January 19, 2005 01:46 PM (GMT)
Hahahaha.. yes the 51st State... great movie..
I remember the quote but it was from the Snatch not the Lockstock if i'm not mistaken.. both movies were full of such quotes.. very smart and funny.. the only thing that i like about Brits was their humor.. just excellent... exactly the opposide of their cuisine (if we can say that they have a cuisine)...

From Lockstock what i remember most was the "trick" with the gay dildos that one of them suggested for getting money.. smart idea and it could work in reality, especially in UK... Hahahaha...

Hades - January 19, 2005 08:28 PM (GMT)
Yep mate, it's Snatch, my mistake... :o

Some more good quotes from the Barrels:

Eddie: They're armed.
Soap: Armed, armed with what?
Eddie: Err, bad breath, colorful language, feather duster... what do you think they're gonna be armed with? Guns, you tit!

Rory Breaker: If you hold back anything, I'll kill ya. If you bend the truth or I think your bending the truth, I'll kill ya. If you forget anything I'll kill ya. In fact, you're gonna have to work very hard to stay alive, Nick. Now do you understand everything I've said? Because if you don't, I'll kill ya.

and one more from the Snatch:

Avi: Eighty-six carats.
Rosebud: Where?
Avi: London.
Rosebud: London?
Avi: London.
Gemologist: London?
Avi: Yes, London. You know: fish, chips, cup 'o tea, bad food, worse weather, Mary fucking Poppins... LONDON.

I am really disappointed now, badly disappointed.., you listed all very nice movies indeed, but somehow managed not to mention the GREATEST MOVIE ever (no, not "the ten commands" with Charlton heston)

all of your dirty bunch should be very grateful, that i´m just a Newbie and not even a private, `cause otherwise such a serious lack of cineastic taste would be valid enough a reason to remove a lot of stripes and badges in here... ts, ts, ts,...

Ok, a few hints: the film involves everything - Sex, Crime, War, Comedy, Philosophy, Drugs and Art... (no, not MASH)

Featuring Walter Sobczek alias John Goodmann and Jeff Bridges as "his dudeness" or "el Duderino" or just "the Dude"

:headbang: THE BIG LEBOWSKY :headbang:

Apart from classics like The Godfather (should be made compulsory for every boy reaching 12 years of age) its the best movie I´ve come across in the pas few years.

Anyone seen it too?

Lord - February 5, 2005 11:08 AM (GMT)
Ehem....you mean the byblic 10 commandments ??? :o

Rawshark - March 29, 2005 04:49 AM (GMT)
For me, the greatest movie ever has to be Goodfellas, Ray Liotta acted rings around DeNiro and Pesci (who were both brilliant). From beginning to end its so vibrant and energetic and the dialogue is incredible. Joe Pesci played one of the most believable, violent and funniest psychopaths in cinema history and his famous 'what do you mean I'm funny?' scene is still worth quoting a whole 15 years after it first appeared.

A great example of Scorcese's masterful direction is the scene in which Henry (Liotta) takes his girlfriend and later wife Karen out on their first date, they get out of the car, go into the club, go through the kitchen, attract the attention of the concierge, have a table set up, are seated and are then given champagne, the whole scene from beginning to end was over 3 minutes long and it was filmed in one shot and with one camera.

A modern classic and studied by film students the world over.

Cheers
