Ah,another remake of old idea.Unfortunately for them, the original is the one that has remained in history as Orson Welles managed to even panick part of the population from a radio transmission.

Here's a funny pic from one of those that actually were convinced by Orson Welles that the Martians were really coming:

Such a pitty that Welles can't play in the film. They don't make actors like him anymore.

I haven't watched the movie yet.A friend of mine who watched it said that the leatherjacket Tom Cruise was wearing was the coolest thing in the movie!Women..... :hammer:

Not a bad remake. Watched it on sunday. It was funny whe the kids keep sayin "Are they terrorists?".. There are some nice scenes involving Humvees & M1A2s. Apaches and even the Raptors also starred in the movie but they were probably digital . Overall i give it a 6 out of 10.

Its end is quite horrible for a film of that caliber.

Actually that grandpa with the shotgun looks pretty scary to me!I don't think that he would think twice before firing both barrels at anything that moves! :D

:D And just imagine what he would have done if Welles had actually done his job from the tv instead of the radio. He would have bought a cannon after seeing how good armour the martians had. :roflmao:

Spoiler alert! If you haven't watched the movie and want to don't read this post

The film really sucks in my opinion! After the 10 first minutes i got really tired of Dakotas screaming and wanted to slap her in the face! Some nice special effects(the machines) while others were stereotypes from the 80s(aliens,explosions).The only part i really liked was the basement scenes(reminded me much SIGNS) with Tim Robbins(who was the best actor in this flick). The final message was very week too.

The movie was a Cruise vehicle with some special effects throw in. What really bothered me was the kid (Dakota) screaming throughout the movie. At the half way point, I was hoping the aliens would eat her.

As usual, the movie could have been a lot more but as usual, Crapywood spends all the time on the overpaid actors face rather then creating intriguing and frightening scenario's.

I saw Crash yesterday and I hugely recommend it. It concerns racism and stereotyping in America.

Not bad, up until the ending. I would have preferred a really, really gloomy ending. But then again I get more and more pessimistic over the years.

Cool jacket indeed. :)

LOL indeed I also payed attention to the nice cloathings of Tom.

Because the movie sucked big time. Not entertaining no message just stupid invasion. We even dont get to see massive destruction I major cities by alien invasion, only destruction of suburbs and some redneck city. And indeed I coudnt stand the screeming of that little girls. She screemed throughout the whole movie. It really got on my nerves :wall:

For the whole movie, what was Spielberg thinking. As for Tom he isnt the worst actor he has some skills, its just his big igo getting in the way of his performence. On every show he acts like a moron.

Anyway my advise see the version of War of the Worlds from the 50's instead of this one, trust me its much more entertaining.

It definately lacked something. It was built up to be something exciting that would keep your eyes glued to the screen, yet I found my self looking around the cinema more often then not.
It needed more action.

What I also found pretty, um, dumb, was when the son ran into the battle with the tanks and soldiers, and then Tom Cruise runs away to get his daughter, and then everything behind, where the battle was, blows up in a huge explosion. Logically, everyone should be dead, but at the end, the son is alive and the only thing wrong is his face is dirty. Did anyone else find this a bit dumb?

Fairly good movie. The beginning was pretty interesting and thrilling, however the movie slackened as it went on. The cellar scene was a bit too long and I knew at the end someone would end up cutting that tentacle with the axe! (turned out to be Tom Cruise hehe). I wish there were more combat scenes. The ending was kind of abrupt but that is how the original is. I recommend actually reading the book (I read it many years back). Quite good with more emphasis on actual military tactics of both aliens and humans.

Overall rating 7.5 out of 10.
