Description: anyone watched Ringu series?

Maybe we can gather to watch it sometime...
Just a suggestion, I'm waaaaay too chicken to watch it with less than 5 people.

omg scary >< i can't do horror films, i have an insanely overactive imagination....*still* trying to get over the apparently much-less-scary english version of the Ring...and i saw that over a year ago ... :(

Yea I know....it's pure terror but a classic, a certain someone got me curious on it, now I'm torn between curiosity and concern for own mental health.
Cindy - October 7, 2005 06:02 PM (GMT)
lol yeah, i was curious too....i watched it with a bunch of friends at my house, and *right after* the damned phone rang. I'm pretty sure we all screamed.
... there was some plan about moving to australia with kangaroos to be away from all phones and tv's.....
anywhose we watched "ever after" (one of my fav movies...im such a girly girl :P ) right after the ring so people wouldn't be too scared to drive home o.O. So if we do decide to do this Ringu thing, we should have something largely hilarious to follow up to preserve the delicate mental state :) .

i dont think ringu was very scary. the ring was abit scarier just b/c of the sudden closet scene.
still trying to find horror movies that are genuinely scary...havent been scared well since childhood. I think the movies with highest scariness factor (new word/phrase creation) that i've seen are the exorcist, original texas chainsaw massacre (some scenes are quite funny though...especially when leatherface gets surprised :lol: ), and audition (japanese...director takeshi miike).

I've watched Ringu, and it was definitely creepier than the english adaptation, but I don't think it'll be that bad. :D

mwhahaha I think that it would be good if we watched the ringu we can watch a really cheesy horror movie like crack in the floor lol ahh it was so bad, made you laugh so much ^.^

Yea... :P damnnit I'm so curious now...
But I'm so chicken XDD
pacman99 - October 12, 2005 02:53 AM (GMT)
naw it wasn't scary at all....only time i was even remotely scared in the whole ringu series (Ringu 0, 1, 2) was in 1 when Sadako i think her name is? jumped out of the TV screen...yea that was the only time.
BUT i'm sure if I watched that again at like 5am in the morning alone in a dark house, I'll probably get scared heh.
The exorcist scared me thouhg..the original one..i didn't finish watching it lol. Not because th emovie was scary but because I read a book a week or two before watching the movie about how spirits possess us. It had case studies and everything and well, let's just say I couldn't sleep for TWO WEEKS. Good thing this was over the summer or else i'd be screwweeddd. Then again that was back in hmmm grade 10 or 11?
Cindy - October 12, 2005 06:06 PM (GMT)
eep i saw maybe 10 minutes of the exorcist and that was enough to give me nightmares to this day...
i dont fare well to those psychological horror movies.
blood and guts i can handle, but ghosts and scary monster-things popping out of dark alleys....that creeps me out.
pacman99 - October 13, 2005 01:35 AM (GMT)
lol the only reason iw as scared was because i knew it was TRUE and it DOES happen even in Canada and I've sorta experienced somethign similar so yea....all movies like that remind me of stuff i dont' wanna remember and yea :(

Yeah, I didn't find Ringu as scary as I had anticipated...I think b/c everyone was getting me too hyped for it. The part where she crawls out of the TV is a bit disturbing I admit. But the Japanese are pretty good at horror movies...it's like stuff you wouldn't even think of. I think my frd said she found Ringu really scary b/c she had to sleep in front of the TV right after watching it...and there was eerie lighting. *shivers*
Some ppl say The Grugde (Ju-on) is scary...and a lot of ppl find IT scary...(it's English...sorry I'm jumping from Jp and Eng films)...clowns=shivers. I wouldn't be comfy with Chucky either...madly afraid of dolls. Eeek.
Blood and guts make you cringe but ghosts and serial killers make your imagination run wild. That's my 2 cents.

I found the Grudge to be scarier than Ju-on. Has anyone seen Ringu 2 or Dark Water?
chaco - November 30, 2005 07:36 PM (GMT)
I am so up for rewatching Ringu. I watched it in China with my cousin with chinese subs so I didn't get the story/dialogue as well. >_> But it did leave me with an unforgetable impression. Not scary but Sadako tends to remain in my mind and in the dark sometimes, my imagination goes overboard. ._.;
Anyhow, I refuse to watch Chucky or IT though. CHILDHOOD TRAUMA kthx. ;o;
I want to watch the Exorcist though or the Exorcism of Emily Rose. I am way too scared to watch those by myself because malevolent ghosts scare me. I'm glad I don't live in the haunted Trinity (yet I do because I want to see if I would get a ghostly encounter >_>). ;o;

the exorcist is a good movie... and chucky used to be my favourite when i was a kid...i was thoroughly scared of that guy... i dont know how well those movies have aged though, i doubt that it'll be very scary watching it now
now, me and my friends just end up watching older slasher flicks like nightmare on elm street for the laughs...some of the acting is hilarious
