Synopsis:
Kiritani Shuji is the popular guy who gets along with everyone. From the jerks, to the nerds to the just plain weird. He's the man that everyone can count on. What they don't know is that Shuji knows how predictable his classmates are and he plays off their predictability to his advantage. His day to day existence as "Shuji-kun" is just a facade he uses to play in the school popularity game. Truth be told, Shuji is bored.

Shuji gets along with everybody, but the one person he can't stand the most is Kusano Akira. Unlike Shuji, Akira is just plain annoying. Akira loves his soy milk so much, he gets drunk from it. He laughs funny, he talks funny, and he even acts funny. Nobody in class takes Akira seriously. Shuji can't stand the sight of Akira and it drives him nuts that Akira does whatever he wants despite Shuji's expressed dislike of him.

Shuji has a daily ritual of touching a certain willow tree for good luck. One day, he is surprised to find out that his willow tree was uprooted and in it's place, he finds a freaky looking girl telling him that some people took the tree somewhere else to be spotted. She joked that she was planning to hang herself from that tree. Scared, Shuji runs away.

Things heat up when a new student comes to school, Shuji is shocked to find out that the new student was the freaky girl he saw the day his willow tree disappeared. Her name is Kotani Nobuko, a girl who has no self confidence at all and is content at being made fun of and bullied in school.

Shuji and Akira come to an accord that in order to make use of their "youth" they will "produce" Nobuko as the next popular girl. One of the conditions though is that nobody should find out that they are working together as a team to make this concept possible.

Of course, nobody can be a protagonist without an antagonist. There is a mysterious girl in school jeopardizing the duo's plan to make Nobuko popular. The mystery is still unfolding.

A story of friendship between three people who would not have been friends if not given the special circumstances. This show is really hilarious. Especially with Akira acting all crazy. :) This is a far cry from Yamapi's previous roles where he's always reserved. Kamenashi Kazuya on the other hand, continues to expand his tv presence with having two shows air this season. :)

wow just watched ep 4. that was a good episode T_____________T

the whole suspense for flower vs. water was really good. and the end twist was really good too as nobuta turned the "pages".

shuji's character is so good :sob: ! It was a lose/lose situation but he chose one in the end T____________T

i wouldn't be able to choose if i was him -_-

i could really see a love triangle coming along... I don't know how it'll end. hopefully they will all stay as friends.

nobuta and shuji doesn't really match.
and i think akira is way too silly to like/love someone for real. so unless he matures, there's no way him and nobuta will be together!
so keeping it as friends should be the best option!

i really wonder what kame's personality is like in real life tho. can't tell by his acting ^^

Even if mariko likes him "SO MUCH", it doesn't mean shuji will like her in the end. he's going out to gain experience and boost up his popularity. he's not one bit emotionally attached.

even if you think it's the ideal couple, i'd really want shuji to never find a girl!

i wouldn't say the story is particularly good, but the characters themselves are adorable + Cute

But I think the storyline is pretty good^^ Although I'm not really liking Shuji's character much either...so hypocritical =S

I loved the entire series...pitty it was soo short...and the ending was sad.

That catch phrase "Nabuta Power too new" that Nabuta does is a hit with my Shogakko and Chugakko kids.
I added onto the end of We Wish You a Merry Christmas when I taught my kids the song, and they loved it!!!

I think the correct phrase (or what most people use) is "nobuta power chu nyu!" or "nobuta power ju niu!"

i think chu nyu/ju niu means "enter" (?)

I actually LOVE this drama. I like the storyline and I especially adore the characters. I wasn't completely happy about the ending though....

I've watched the begining few eps of it a few months ago, because it was Kame XD He's so pretty in it >.<

The song ... seishun amigo? The video is funny XD Their dance ... is always weird. Johnny Jr. people always have weird dances in their videos >_>;;
