Title: Khu- Accepted
Description: wiseacre extraordinaire

Khu - January 18, 2005 06:02 PM (GMT)
Name: Khu

Age: 4

Gender: Male

Pack: Loner

Position: N/A

Appearance: Khu the average size for an adult timber wolf. His coat is coat is a mixture of dark brown, black, gray, and white. Instead of the usual lighter coloration on the lower portion of his legs, all of Khu’s paws are dark brown, so it appears he has just tramped through the mud. His mother used to tell him his paws had been snow white when he was first born. She said he had ignored her warnings about not getting dirty one too many times so they became permanently stained. Khu however, liked his “stained” paws. That way it was hard for his mother to tell if he had been playing in the mud or not.

Another unique characteristic of Khu’s is the small notch taken out of the top of his left ear. The history of this notch is related below, though he will tell anyone who’ll listen that it is a battle scar from an enemy he defeated singly handedly.

Personality: Khu is a wolf who loves to have fun. It is rare to see him without a smile on his maw and a joke on the tip of his tongue. Though he has been a loner for the past few years, he does enjoy the company of other wolves, especially females. He finds they are more likely to appreciate his wiseacre sense of humor than most males he encounters. When he finds himself with a group of wolves, he believes it is his job to be the comic relief and will not rest until he has brought a smile to every maw present.

Though he has a laid back personality, Khu can be serious if the need arises. He learned a thing or two about survival during his years alone and made it through his share of scraps with other loners.

History: Khu was born to the Beta male and female of his pack. Along with his brother and two sisters, Khu enjoyed the protection and love of every wolf in his 10-member pack. Life was always an adventure for Khu as a young pup and he nearly drove his mother crazy by wandering off alone to explore (and occasionally dragging a sibling with him). Once such venture gave Khu the notch in his ear he still carries today.

Khu was not yet a year old, but had been learning to hunt for the past few weeks. Feeling he was grown up enough to try a hunt on his own, without Mama or another pack member there to baby sit him, Khu set off into the forest determined to bring back dinner for the pack. As he walked along, he suddenly spotted a large hare sitting by a tree, happily munching on a clump of weeds. The hare must have been quite old and hard of hearing because Khu managed to sneak up behind it and launch an attack it its hind leg, figuring if he could snap the bone the hare could not run off. Khu’s inexperience and lack of jaw strength prevented him from following through with his plan, but it certainly gave the hare a shock. Though this hare might have been old, it still had an incredible will to live and did not appreciate this young pup trying to gnaw its leg off. The hare whirled around and snapped down on the nearest thing to its jaws while at the same time kicking out with its powerful hind legs to break free. Unfortunately, Khu’s ear happened to be the nearest thing to the hare’s jaws and with a nip and a yelp, the tip of Khu’s ear was torn clean off.

His mother, who had been napping nearby, heard his cry and came running. After decoding Khu’s story through his sobs, it was all she could do to keep from laughing at her poor son. Realizing he would never live down being injured by a hare, Khu’s mother said, along with a wink, he would just have to explain to the other pups that the vicious badger who had given him that injury had stolen the hare he had skillfully killed for dinner. Catching on that his mother was trying to save him further embarrassment, Khu marched back to the pack and regaled the awestruck pups with his tale of glory, though he did catch some of the older wolves chuckling at him when they thought he wasn’t looking.

As Khu grew older, he became restless within his family pack, until one day; at about the age of two, he declared he was going to set out on his own to explore other lands. His mother was not happy with the idea, but his father, who had done the same thing at Khu’s age, smiled and gave him his blessing. Throwing a cheeky grin over his shoulder and lamenting on how they would all miss the most important member of the pack Khu set off as a loner. He picked his way about various lands, met new friends, made a few enemies, and found a few fights with not so friendly wolves. Though he still enjoys the loner lifestyle, Khu is now beginning to miss the companionship of a pack. He has decided to chose his new pack carefully, to be sure they will all appreciate the fine, handsome, and witty wolf that he is.
