Name: Midas

Age: 2 summers

Gender: Male

Appearance: Born with a pelt of gold, Midas is quite a unique wolf. His light, honey colored eyes are sharp and breathtaking. As most red wolves do, he carries a very slim and agile figure. Long legs make him fast. Large ears make his hearing just a bit sharper than most. He's just under the average size for a wolf, but that doesn't matter all too much. Where he lacks sheer physical power, he makes up for in grace. He has a slight accent that, to some, may sound just a little British. His body is unmarked by scars, save for one. It is on the right side of his muzzle, a thin, straight line tracing it's way from the top to his lip.

Personality: Overall Midas is a considerably friendly wolf. He's not one to start fights, but if they come his way he's not a coward either. Friends are extremely important to him and he holds loyalty in very high regard. Always though, he has a tendency to bond with the 'outcasts' or the 'under dog'. Midas rarely gets himself into trouble, but when he does it is always because he is defending someone in need. He's not a dominate wolf, but he's not all too submissive either. If he were to ever join a pack, he would only join if he had the right to come or go as he pleased. He serves out of loyalty and respect. But that loyalty and respect is hard won...and never given. Midas is, in a few words, fair, friendly, caring, hardworking and trustworthy.

History: Midas was born outside of a pack. The loners who were his parents were good natured and hardworking. He was the only pup in his litter, probably because his mother did not always have enough to eat. But being born in the early summer, Midas' puppyhood was a happy one. His parents taught him to hunt and all the other normal things that a wolf pup needs to learn. In the spring, right before was a year old, a female loner joined them. She was young like Midas and soon became his best friend. Lilly was an angle. She always pulled her weight and was always willing to learn. Midas' parents all but adopted them as one of their own.

Finally, Midas was a year old. The summer faded into fall and their little pack was slowly carving out their own territory. The years had been bountiful ones. Winter came, and it was gentle. But the four of them were hunting together on one clear, winter morning, when their pack was attacked by another pair of loners. It was 2 to 4. His father and mother fought wondrously against the big, burly male and Midas and Lilly chased the female from their lands. The friends returned to find Midas' father wounded, but the intruder was gone. Midas' father healed up just fine. Spring came and then summer.

And that's when it happened. The spring had been very wet and the begining of the summer was not much better. it rained for a long period of time...and then the flood came. His pack tried to travel to higher ground but Midas was separated from them. Days passed and he stood atop the mountains, looking down into the valley that they had called home for his entire life. Water thundered through it, drowning everything in its path. Midas howled, but to no avail. No one answered his calls. After about a week of waiting and mourning, he finally was forced to move on to hunt.

With a heavy heart he traveled all summer, coming closer and closer into the lands of SotW. He hunted as he went and fought the occasional loner. Those few months without a pack hardened him into a tougher wolf. But his heart still remained as gold as his pelt. He made a few friends that he traveled and hunted with. But they always parted ways after a week or two. And now, finally, he has come here...to these new lands and a new start.

Awe, poor fella. :( He looks like he'll be a cool character, though.
