-About Your Character-
Name: Rayen
Age: Two years
Gender: Female
Appearance: My my, is that an angel I spy? It could be, but then again, it may not be. The eyes have a tendency to deceive you know. But she can't be all bad, certainly not. Let's start with the basics, shall we? Rayen possesses that lonely innocence of the world look to her. She often has that glint in the eyes, along with the facial expression, of being the oh so timid, beautiful, and rather obediant one who would not dream of even flitting her tail out of line. Her face is nicely dished, carved with the utmost care by the nature of her mother's womb. She has faint, almost unrecognizeable, natural lines that run from the sides of where he muzzle meets her facade to the inner corners of her eyes. The hue around her pupils is a captivating milk cocoa brown, diverting its coloration only when dependent on the light of her environment.
Her forehead is delicately domed, leading back to her ears which seem to be on a constant search for a nonexistent sound. Nicely pointed towards the sky a majority of the time, Rayen's ears have a silken and fluffy texture, especially around the base, that rivals the satin and shimmering fabrics that humans frequently adorn themselves in. Her neck has a graceful curve to it that leads it perfectly down to her chest, bulging out ever so slightly to create that beautiful feminine look. Her shoulders protrude slightly from the sides of her chest, trailing down to the limber apendages that are her forelegs.
Her paws are daintily shaped, ebon nails extending only slightly from the tips of her toes. The mitts that are the pads of her paws suffocate any possible noise or sound that may utter a cry from beneath her weight. For the majority of the surface of her mitts, the sole color is ebony. But the occasional spot of strawberry creme pink can be found in a corner or crevace. The joints of her legs are even and well met, all the way up to her elbows near her mid-section. Her ribs are concealed behind a healthy amount of body fat, giving her an elegant and fit curve to her belly. At the base of her neck a slight lump rises with her fur from the usual protrudence of the shoulder blades. Rayen's back forms gracefully around her spine and, much like her back, has a graceful curve that moves back to her rump.
The joints of her hips jutt out from her sides only slightly, much like any wolf. Beneath the peltage over her flanks, Rayen packs a vast amount of muscle and sinew to give her the speed she needs to survive. The muscle reduces considerably as it extends back and down towards the joints in her hind legs. From that joint, the direction in which her fur moves goes down to the paws and mitts of her hind legs. But that area of her has already been covered, and I'm sure you don't want to hear that all again. Back up to the end of her rump, Rayen sports quite a marvelous tail. It's ability to curl, wave, and wag in a manner most unique and elegant is really quite remarkable. But then again, isn't that how all tails of her wolven kin move? Surely it is.
And what is the shimmering silk and satin that adorns each of these features? Rayen's pelt is made up of some of the purest abalaster coloring, neither ebon nor gray hindering its pattern. And, much like described above, it quite possibly can rival human's silk. Now, enough of her features. The manner in which her joints move in unison to carry this beautiful creature is that of utmost elegance. Her mitts mold with the ground with each step, cradling her body so that her movements are light, calculated, and well placed.
I think I covered the basics faintly enough, don't you think?
Personality: Surely a female who is spied as an angel will have a demeanor that matches it well, it is only fitting right? Well, we shall see shant we? To start off, Rayen finds herself to be quite the reflective type. After many decisions she often wonders if something could have been done different that could have produced an outcome that was more desireable to her and to everyone involved. She takes most things to heart, so it is something you may want to be aware of when speaking with her. Even something that is not meant to be offensive can be seen as such to her, unless she knows the sarcasm involved.
Rayen is a sensitive soul, not just with emotional workings, but also with environmental settings. If something is out of place in the environment around her, Rayen's sensitivity will set her off about it. It actually makes for quite an effective method of forecasting. Even a sudden drop of pressure in the atmosphere will alert Rayen to the weather's doings. But back to the more discussed description of being the sensitive type. Rayen's sensitive side could be tied in with her taking things to heart side. But the other part of this side of her can mostly be associated with the understanding of the emotional side of others around her that she possesses. Rayen is the type that many are able to come to when they just want to be heard, when they have something they need to get off of their chest, or when they need another to share a heavy burden.
Rayen is a multi-tasker, able to fit a vast amount of things of her plate. But, even with this positive quirk, she has trouble organizing objects and others and cannot pay a lot of attention to detail in some situations. But she is the creative one of her family, blessed with the ability to think up plans and plots of logic and strategy when given the time. She can make quick decisions when need be, however, and was given the God sent gift of being able to escape when being pursued using the environment around her. Her prefence in work lies with groups since she finds it easier to share a load with others than for one to take it all upon themselves. And being still young, Rayen finds that she learns new things best when she is able to observe others in various predicaments and scenarios.
She has trouble giving exact answers to questions and statements she prefers not to respond to, but it depends on the asker's rank and level of authority that will ultimately decide whether she will actually give it up. Rayen has the ability to be able to balance work with play, teetering both on each side of her scale symmertrically so that neither have more nor less of her focus. After all, all work and no play makes Rayen a dull girl. Rayen can communicate well, and has an excellent memory for relaying messages and past conversations when the need for them arises. But she has the tendency to rush into matters, even when they don't concern her. Her heart is in the right place most of the time when concerning this, and she wishes only the best for those she grows close to.
She is a noncompetitive individual, and prefers to let others win in games and small competitions that do not involve rank, life, or death. However, since Rayen has quite the sensitive side, she is emotional when making some decisions that involve the well being of others. This is especially so when another is suffering profusely and has no chance of surviving. In so, she is a timid female most of the time, making it rather difficult to rile her into a state of rage.
History: The world was a new place for her, as it was with any pup who had yet to take his or her first steps into the light that shone so brightly through the mouth of the den. It was blinding, but mesmerizing... well, at least for Rayen it was. At first, she had shied away and hid from its rays. But soon enough, she found them pleasent and rather warm in the duration of the chilly mornings. But alas, Rayen was confined to the den for the first couple of months of her life. She spent her time romping with her siblings, but never managing to overcome them in their games since she was the smaller individual of the litter. When not involved with their tidings, or nibbling on the ears of her parents, Rayen spent her time in the small disfigured circle of sunshine that was permitted to shine into the den. There she felt the shifts in the occasional breeze that traveled the small tunnel from the outside.
After basking in her morning sun one day, just after sunrise, Rayen's mother approached the small pup. Rayen was elated to know that finally she and her siblings were allowed to venture outside. An explosion of color met her as Rayen took her first steps outside after her kin. After living the life of seeing nothing but the slate gray and bronze tones of the den walls, all of the different shades were quite an amount to take in at once. It did not take long for Rayen to become rather accustomed with the environment around her, and she used it to her advantage when one of her older siblings thought it humorous to chase and nip at her heels and tail. Well, the joke was on them after that.
With time, Rayen grew into her oversized paws and ears that resembled that of bats. In fact, she grew quite elegant in both her stature and in the manner that she moved. Only one other litter had been born that year and the two males that inhabited the pack from it were beginning to take notice. But even with their attempts to impress her with childish displays of wrestling and bravery, each time they were met with a simple brush off from Rayen. She simply had no interest.
At the age of one year Rayen went from the rank of pup to subordinate. Elated with her new rank, no matter how low in the heirarchy it was, Rayen took many of the pack's odd jobs and patrols upon herself to prove herself in the eyes of both her Beta parents, and the Alpha pair. Now nearing the age of two, Rayen found that on many occasions the young adults of the pack would speak with her of their hopes, dreams, and ambitions, and would find comfort in her company. She was a listener, which the Alpha's quickly picked up on. A neighboring pack had been starting small scuffles and brawls with the patrols that were regularly sent out along the borders. And after hearing instructions and a statement from the pair Rayen went with the eldest son of the alpha pair to request the presence of the Alpha of the other pack near the border.
After arriving, announcing her request and presence, and waiting but a short time Rayen was met by a rather large and disgruntled looking male. He was accumpanied by two others, most likely a guard of sorts. Rayen relayed what she had been told by her Alpha's, ears now attentive as she waited for a response. It wasn't the response she had been looking for.
The large male waited several moments, the awkward silence building the tension between them. Rayen glanced behind her nervously as she felt the Alpha's eyes trace over her before the male whispered something inaudible to the pair behind him. In a manner that could be called snake-like, the two formed a sort of barrier behind her and Roe before the Alpha gestured with his muzzle for her to follow. When they didn't immediatly oblige to the command the pair behind them nipped at their heels. They unwillingly followed the large male, who lead them through lands where it looked as if no life could again rise from the dry dirt.
They passed several rather thin and and sometimes sickly looking wolves before stopping before a den. Rayen was nudged rather roughly inside while Roe was forced to wait outside. Nervously the timid female ventured forward, finding a single young pup, laying amongst the dead and partially decaying bodies of others, most likely its siblings. The Alpha announced from the den mouth that the pup was the only surviver of a raid from another pack across the moutains, a pack in which Rayen's pack had an alliance with. She was to kill the pup so that the blood would be on her pelt, thus the blame for the raid would be shifted onto her pack instead of the disgruntled males and the alliance would be broken.
Rayen learned of the plan that was to take place afterwards. When the pack from the other side of the mountains had left their lands to seek revenge upon Rayen's pack, the pack of this useless and dying area would take over the more lush section of the enemy pack. Again and again Rayen refused, only angering the disgruntled Alpha male more. It seemed as if his final thread of tact had broken when he suddenly barged into the den. Rayen gently grasped the scruff of the young pup in her mouth before she was forced back against a wall. Even then, still she refused. As the male advanced upon her Rayen swiftly brushed dirt and grime from the ground into the male's face. Disorientated and raging the male could only snap aimlessly at the air as Rayen quickly slipped past him.
With the pup still in her jaws, Rayen surged from the den mouth and quickly began to sprint towards the mountains and Roe quickly followed her. The now, obviously, raging male pursued them. He and his Beta wer the only members of their pack that was not surcumbing to the effects of hunger and sickness since they, of course, were the ones most taken care of. Rayen and Roe used the environment to her advantage. Having relayed messages between her pack and the one across the mountains, she knew when and where it would be best to lose the males and gain precious time.
After being on the run for almost two days straight, no doubt she, Roe, and the young pup were exhausted. But thankfully they had managed to elude the male. Finally, they reached the borders of the lower mountain pack. She put the pup down only long enough for her to request assistance before she picked up the pup and began to move into the territory. Of course, the disgruntled male and his Beta had heard her announcement and they immediatly began to pursue them into the enemy territory. Thankfully Rayen and Roe had managed to meet with the Alphas, who immediatly recognized them and brought them into the protection of their pack. The disgruntled male confronted the pack, and demanded Rayen come to him. When she didn't comply the male surged forward to attempt an attack of her, but instead he was met with the angry and vengeful fangs of the lower mountains pack.
The disgruntled male's Beta promptly fled, most likely back to the sorry state that was his pack lands. After returning the surviving pup Rayen thought it best that she did not return to her old pack, since no doubt that the sickly pack that neighbored hers would seek her ultimate downfall. The lower mountains pack agreed to relay the story of Rayen's short but perilous adventure to her family and pack, and that they would give their support to them in case the sickly pack got up some courage to invade.
In so, Rayen was the reason for the downfall of a hated enemy, but moreso was the reason for the strengthening of an old alliance bond between two family packs. Roe followed after her, much for the same reasons as Rayen's.
