-About Your Character-Name: Fren
Age: 3
Gender: Male
Appearance: A large male, Fren stands a couple of inches higher at the shoulder than your average male. He is an intimidating looking wolf, with thick, shaggy fur and a stare to be reckoned with. That is, if there's a reason for it. His fur used to be silver, white and red, but recently all the red has grown out. In its absence, his fur is now silver-and-grey on top, over his back, head, and the top of his tail. As it goes down his sides, it fades to purest white, with no other markings on it. His face is white below the eyes, except for a grey stripe from his nose to his forehead.
His eyes are a deep brown flecked with gold. His one identifying feature, besides his size, is that the pupil in his left eye is 'broken', and branches off right into the iris. He is rather fond of this feature for some reason, and enjoys telling people he acquired it in a particularly nasty fight to gauge their reaction. This is an untruth, though, as he has had it since birth. It does not impair his vision any.
The last notable thing to be said about his appearance is the smattering of scars around his muzzle and ears, but they are no more severe than any wolf would have. They are a tell-tale mark of fights he has been in, but each is small and would not be noticed save from up-close. All in all, he is a fairly handsome wolf, but his challenging and disdainful manner can ruin that for him somewhat.
Personality: Despite what you may believe, on the whole Fren can be perfectly charming when he wants. His contempt is saved for those he can intimidate(a wide range) and those lower in rank than him. When faced with an Alpha, or a female who curries his favour, a whole new side emerges. It is not a side put on: he was once like this all the time. He is not stupid wolf, infact he is very smart. But sometimes, in the heat of anger etc, he can be in such an outraged rush to get his words out that they fail him, stumbling over eachother then snapping to a sudden stop. He will then resume whatever point he was making with extra vehemence - he will not be though of as stupid when he knows fine well he's not.
Something that often surprises others is his ability to "switch on" his manners, as it were - it seems he does this as easily as turning his head. This is no facade; it is genuine. The reason for it is there is no sense in presenting yourself to an Alpha or female you want with a brash, vulgar front - surely you will be dismissed as soon as you speak. Indeed, manners are highly important to him, wether it be someone lower in rank than him asking "please" or "thank-you" of him, behaving properly towards Alphas and the like, or even himself to others. It is not unusual for him to give a command to one(even the Omega) and follow it up with a "please". No matter how strained the addition will be, it will be there: it's just his way.
History: Fren was never a happy, lovey-dovey wolf, but he was never so dark as he is now. Way Back When, he was born of the Alpha pair in his pack, himself, a brother (Renik), and a sister (Laika).
Renik was a fair size, though he never broke even with the sheer scale of his brother. He was the same colour as Fren, and indeed seemed like a smaller, more sculpted model of his brother. His wit was unparallelled by Fren, though, and when he came of age he was appointed as Tutor, as his father believed he could impart some of that uncanny knowledge to the rest of the pack. Even though he was so young, there seemed a deep
knowing in him that all the wolves respected. He settled in fine in this role, and even adults came to him to learn. The whole pack seemed to benefit, so both Renik and his father were happy.
Laika was a small, almost pure white wolf. She shared the same eye defect as Fren, and this unusual bond gave the two a sense of connection. When they were young, they were forever getting into trouble together. Others made light of it, remarking, "They'll be forever bumping into things because they can't see! They've only one pair of eyes between them." This phrase was well-worn throughout their puphood, and they were commonly know as 'Broke-eyes', as in, "Broke-eyes have done it again, I see!"
But when Laika matured into a young she-wolf, it was apparent how much of a beauty she would be. Having imbued her mother's looks, she had such striking green eyes and such a elegant way of holding herself that the males of the pack began to quarrel over who would have her. The Gamma seemed the most appropriate, and Laika had already fallen for him, as such. The two were allowed to be mates, and it was assumed they would soon have pups, so both Laika and her father were happy.
Before it was decided, everybody knew what would become of Fren. The pack did not have a Beta male(the last one having left, desiring leadership of his own pack), and as soon as he was old enough he was given the rank. It seemed Fren fit the bill perfectly; he kept the pack running smoothly, and any doubt that others had of one so young was washed away by his confidence and know-how. He dealt with most of the major issues and gained a lot of respect, so both Fren and his father were happy.
This happiness was destined to be short-lived, unfortunately. In a scrap with an aggressive loner, Fren's father injured his leg. It was not a life-threatening affliction, but it was enough to put him out of business for a month or so. During this time, Fren stepped up to the role of temporary Alphen, by unanimous favour. He took pains to remind everyone that this was only temporary, despite some wolves hinting that he would be better suited to the job, being younger and fresher at 2-and-a-half years old, compared to his father's 6.
His father, under care and supervision in the den, was feeling thoroughly rejected. Jealousy blossomed in the dark, close to his chest, and wound its way round his common sense. He began to believe Fren wanted to steal the pack leadership out from under him, and opted for a "give no quarter" route.
When he was fully recovered, he confronted Fren and took back his title, accusing him of planning a
coup d'etat - subsequently ordering him to leave. What he had forgotten, however, was that he had lost muscle and strength during his recuperation, and Fren could now take him with even more ease than before. The pack were outraged, and urged Fren to challenge his father and claim the Alpha position, permenantly. Snarling, Fren refused. He knew he could (and would, if it came to it) win in a fight with his father, but he felt no urge to. Something felt wrong in robbing the wolf of what little face he had left.
So Fren, rather nobly in his opinion, left. For half a year he wandered alone, deliberately building his strength and fighting abilities. At one point he had been accepted into a pack, but the Alpha expressed that he wanted no more Betas or Gammas, a rank that Fren had been aspiring to have, ever. He decided to leave, and they parted on good terms.
Once he hit 3, he decided it was time to find a pack, high rank or no high rank. He would start as a Subordinate anyway, and if the ranks were there, he would work for it. If it was not, he would work for the pack.
He was always left wishing for the fight he never had, with his father, and without conciously realising it, had been seeking out a fight that would be as fufilling ever since. There is a deep anger at the injustice that was done to him that sits clenched in his belly, and it is for that reason he wishes to join a pack of wolves just like him. However, events are set to change Fren for the better - though he will always have a bit of that about him.

"Can't figure it out"Fren, Kiwidinok, Mickna, Sylus, Acontiae, Rayen, Laurenana, Oakheart, Ardmoz, Tlon.I was accepted into the Din'dea. Good thing, obviously, although I did realise I was outnumbered on the gender front. I'm not complaining, though. Met too many wolves to comment on any particular one, but I think I'll like it here. Had a quick hunt; did not go as well as planned. -
"Home sweet homeTlon, Acontiae, Kiwidinok, Kasadya, Miska, Thunder, Akina, Radon, Fren, Zine Aldasia, Aiyana.Again, too many wolves to single out anyone in detail. Well - I keep thinking I shouldn't go working to hard on that Acontiae thing.. or maybe I just keep thinking about her. Been told I need to accompany an ex-Amarth defecter - Kasadya - to see to some "business" back in Amarth. Not sure exactly what. Damn it all if I can't help but find Kasadya attractive, too, although I'm feeling strangely guilty about that. -
"But that's my middle nameFren, no one.Leave well enough alone. I'm in the loner lands for a reason, and will not take kindly to being annoyed. This is possibly the worst time you can pick to spring a surprise on me. -
"The Dawn of a New Future Admarien, Fren Just met this wolf, Admarien. He seems decent enough, but there's something about him.. and, he mentioned that he might want to join the Din'dea, in passing. Even if he might not join, I want to see if my suspicions have grounds. ---end of post logs---
