Title: Takoda
Description: not all who wander are lost

Takoda - March 20, 2008 05:10 PM (GMT)
Online Name: the one and only Cloudy!
Birthday: November 21
Other Characters: Thalassa

Characters Name: Takoda
Breed: Eastern timber wolf
Gender: brute
Age: 5 summers

Appearance: Takoda, the largest of his litter, has grown into a fine specimen of a brute. He has a handsome face, and despite years spent serving his birth pack as the Chief of Hunters - a duty that would often put him in physical danger-, there are no outstanding scars. On closer inspection, a keen eye would be able to pick out old scar tissue just beneath the fur, but it does little to spoil his appearance. To top it off, the brute has a pair of dashing blue-grey eyes, the color of a clouded sky.

He has a thick and healthy pelt, mostly of dark browns, warm browns and creams. In the winter months, when the temperature drops and his pelt thickens, it is especially full and beautiful. Beneath all that fur, he is well toned. It can easily be said that he has the build of a hunter.

Takoda keeps his hunting skills finely tuned. He often tracks game simply as practice, never intending to kill. He has a knack for hunting game birds such as grouse. His quick reflexes allow him to snatch a fleeing bird out of flight with ease.

Personality: All in all, Takoda is a genuine good guy. There are no malicious intentions lurking in his heart, and he would never go out of his way to do harm to any wolf -and especially not to a stranger. He's just a simple kind of brute, who enjoys good company, good conversation and good food. But this is not to say that he's a simpleton, or a push over. Takoda is very perceptive, and if he learns that a wolf has taken advantage of his easy-going nature, they'll hear from him.

Takoda is an admirer of all things beautiful, especially females. In the past, the opportunity to court a mate was never available. Now that he's struck out on his own, Takoda hopes to find himself a kind, pretty fae to shower with affection. He has also expressed desire to be a father, but is not too pushy about it.

Takoda seems to be the personality type that would make a great follower rather than a great leader, although he is certainly capable of leading. Allow me to explain: while he is skilled in the hunt, and tends to take charge when hunting with other wolves, he lacks in other areas where Alphas need to be strong. But his smarts, his skills in the hunt and his unwavering loyalty -he deeply respects those with greater skill- make him an invaluable ally -or a daunting opponent, for those who try to mess with his pack.

History: Even at a young age, Takoda took great interest in the hunt. He idolized the Hunters in his own pack -he saw them as brave, strong, proud. Many times, he was scolded for trying to follow the pack's Hunters on their excursions. So he spent the majority of his puphood practicing hunting techniques with his brother, Keenai. The two would take turns being 'predator' and 'prey'. These games helped Takoda's skills along, and the day came that he was successful in his first capture; a squirrel.

Soon after that achievement, Takoda caught the attention of the pack's Chief Hunter, Jago. The Hunter saw promise in the pup and asked his mother -the Alphess- Aryll, if he could make Takoda his apprentice. Even though the pup was still a bit young, Aryll consented and Takoda began his training; while Keenai looked on with envy. Even though the brothers were close, they were also very competitive. The relationship became strained.

Years pass, Takoda matured into a patient, wise and skilled hunter. Keenai has also taken up hunting as a specialty, so he can compete with his brother for the Chief Hunter rank; the current Chief, Jago, was aging and about to retire. It seems the brothers compete for everything; the same rank, the same femmes, the same air to breath. As the competion between the brothers heats up, both brothers go to extreme lengths to prove their superiority. A disaster waiting in the wings.

A simple error would be Keenai's undoing. The brute had been showing off in front of his brother and a femme named Mina -who they both liked- as he took on a white tail doe on his own. Keenai's carelessness cost him; the fighting deer landed a blow between his eyes with one of her sharp hooves, shattering the bone and killing him.

For days after the accident, Takoda was in a sort of trance. Stunned over the sudden loss of his brother. Even though the two had antagonized each other restlessly, Takoda realized how dearly he had loved his brother all along. Unable to cope with the grief -he felt responsible for pushing his brother- Takoda decided to leave his birth pack.
