Title: Arnica

Arnica - September 8, 2007 07:47 PM (GMT)
Name: Arnica

Age: 3 years

Gender: Female

Appearance:

In general, Arnica is rather simplistic in appearance. Her overall fur color is mostly composed of dark gray on her shoulders and back, while the rest of her body is predominantly a lighter silver. She isn’t too feminine or masculine in her looks so the best word to describe her is plain. To summarize, no amount of fancy words will ever make her ordinary looks seem stunningly beautiful. That doesn’t bother her though, in fact her looks is somewhat fitting for her tomboyish personality. Much to her annoyance, her fur is rather thick and usually disheveled. She’s been known to spend hours trying to tame her fur and pull out burrs and twigs that manage to get tangled into it. She’s rather thin, a feature that her fairly thick pelt hides. One of her flaws is that Arnica is lacking in the fighting department both in experience and skill. Because of this, she tries to stay out of fights, it isn‘t easy but she pays attention to the personality of her company. Owing to her build, she’s a fast runner however she does tire easily. Over the months of solitary traveling, her stamina is gradually improving.

Personality:

In her youth, she’s been accused of being too much of a crude and sarcastic smart-aleck. It’s pretty accurate but she doesn’t aim to hurt anyone’s feelings yet she doesn’t want to please anyone. Her temper back then had been… well temperamental but she knows her limit and will readily admit when she’s wrong. Despite her confidence, she doesn’t like to confront any problems she doesn’t know the answer to. And because of her confidence, well pride really, she doesn’t like to depend on others for help. Yes, she doesn’t want to be the damsel in the distress of the situation.

However some events in her childhood had toned down her disposition a bit. Her temper will still flair up every now and then. And her comments are more facetious as opposed to sarcastic; yes there’s a difference in the definition of both words. However this changes as soon as she meets anyone she dislikes. For example, she’s not too fond of overly whiny wolves and will not hesitate to tell them to ‘suck it up‘. She can be quite understanding though but she has some trouble being gentle. Instead she prefers being blunt and upfront. As much as she hates it though, she tries not to anger anyone that could and will not hesitate to skin her alive. She picks her enemies carefully but that doesn’t mean she’ll suck up to anyone because they’re stronger than her.

History:

Arnica and her sister Emese were the results of a one-night stand between two wolves, Taiga and Ulric. Taiga was well known for her carefree ways and Ulric was usually stuck in last place in the pecking order of their pack. The two of them weren’t allowed to breed and once the alphas, Fay and Abiel, found out. They decided that to punish the pair, Taiga would be allowed to keep the pups that were born and she and Ulric would raise them. It didn’t seem like much of a punishment that is until two little female pups were born. Suddenly Taiga and Ulric realized the responsibility of caring for Arnica and Emese in terms of feeding, playing, disciplining, and teaching. Once they started to talk and walk and learned to stop teething on their parents’ ears, caring for them was considerably easier.

However, no amount of discipline, could ease the rising tension between Arnica and the alphas’ eldest son, Vitale. They were quite similar in personality though Vitale was much more of a show-off. Constantly bragging especially around Arnica, the black colored wolf was constantly mauled by the smaller female. Fortunately, Fay and Abiel knew how annoying Vitale could be and were quite understanding whenever their son was in a tussle with Arnica. That didn’t stop her parents from dragging their daughter to the den and spending the next few days there as she slowly died from boredom.

As they grew older, their rivalry eventually diminished into the classic love-hate relationship. Arnica had some deeper feelings for the cocky young male but instead of admitting them, she resorted to exchange insults with him. Unfortunately, Vitale had died before their relationship became anything more. The two of had been arguing again and so busy were they to try get the last word in that they failed to notice an angry bear. Vitale told her to run and she didn’t know why but she did. She ran and he stayed.

His death had affected her. She spent so many hours thinking quietly by herself that the rest of the pack had begun to worry about her well-being. They had good reason to, while she was exploring the territory by herself, a rouge wolf suddenly lunged at her. As she had done when the bear had attacked, Arnica ran. Intent on tearing out her throat and watch the blood flow, the other followed. They exchanged insults and she came to the conclusion that she was going to die by the jaws of a deranged lunatic. However the stranger lost his footing and fell, spraining his leg and knocking himself unconscious in the process. By then, she was far from home and instead of going back, she left.
