Title: Canden

Canden - August 18, 2007 10:49 PM (GMT)
Name Canden
Gender: Male
Age: 4 years
Pack: None
Rank: None
Appearance: A large brute with rippling and well-used muscles, Canden cuts an intimidating figure. He is swift of foot and slips over the land like a great, dark shadow; more’s the pity if he approaches you because it’s quite clear to see that his intense green eyes are packed to the brim with a trained malice. His coat has a silver tone, spreading into a darker hue at the extremities; his legs are a more slate grey, as are his ears and parts of his shoulders, this fur forming an intimidating ruff about his neck; his shoulder and back hackles seem to be permanently raised and a growl constantly lingers in his rough, callous voice.

Canden, however, has paid for his strength and recklessness in attack. He is now peppered with numerous scars – most notable are the three scratches down his right cheek, marring his snarling head, as well as a long gouge across his hulking shoulder. A closer look – should you really desire to do that – would reveal many more battle sacrifices of varying sizes, some newer, still bloody or pinkish red, evident that his personality has never and will never change, and some older, raised up whitely from the surface of his skin and visible between tufts of fur, hinting at a violent past.

Personality: Canden is not sweetness and light. He isn’t the sort of beast you would happily run up to and make friends with. It would be far more sensible to run in the opposite direction when you see his sharp eyes and most likely blood-frothing maw appear over the crest of the hill. He is truly trained to cause distress and pain, and seems not only to be uncaring about those on the receiving end of his attentions, but he appears to enjoy their suffering, even to the point of self-sacrifice, like warrior trained to obey some kind of absurd focus. It's rare to find a creature so in love with wanton destruction that he would give his own health - maybe life - to go ahead with it. It is as if consequences simply don’t matter to him. Indeed, it is almost a shame that a wolf of such determination has spent his purposeful attitude on malevolent tasks rather than something more beneficial to those around him, such as a simple pack hunt.

Any wolf daring to stare into his jade (and jaded) eyes would find nothing but the echo of a snarl, save for one who is exempt from unpleasant treatment – his strong nephew, Farah, who has maintained no grudge over the terrible deed Canden committed in the past, and thus stays with the dark silver brute, subject to a kindness most wouldn’t expect, albeit that of a rough, wrestling, burly sort. Perhaps Canden believes him to have qualities he recognises in himself.

History: Born into a litter along with Selina, the mother of Kalina, he stayed in his birth pack whilst the aforementioned Selina escaped with her beloved mate to lead a new life away from the disapproval of the family. Canden, of course, inherited and learned to hold this disapproval too, and, like his mother, he scorned his sister for daring to take the mate she did, and for running away rather than obeying her parents. Eventually, something had to be done about his runaway sister and any new family ties she had made, but that came later in his history.

Canden appears to have developed a habit for snatching away young from their homes; he stole the one-year-old Takeshi from his parents, Reesha and Tamaska. This wolf, once soft and loving, started to turn dark and malicious under the maltreating paws of the silver brute’s pack. Eventually, Canden did leave that group of wolves – but certainly not to escape their treatment. He had a mission, a task set to him by his mother. He would finally destroy his sister, Selina, along with her mate and litter of young, which she was certain to have. He was successful in his aim and smiled as he first killed Selina’s mate, then Selina herself, then the pups; Arina, Marla, Skanska. This left behind Kalina and Farah, who both stared at him, not comprehending…

And he showed mercy, of a kind. Farah, the firstborn, was a strong looking pup, perhaps a good fighter, should he be allowed to live and grow. Canden smiled a bloody smile again, and snatched him up in his maw, not to hurt him – but to keep him, to take him away. Canden had another youth to raise. Kalina was the complete opposite in strength, last born. Canden simply stared at her with a green gaze, then turned and left her alone, to struggle - perhaps he felt he'd cause more damage in that action of leaving her than he would in simple massacre, or perhaps there really was a spark of light in him somewhere and he hoped she would live. Very doubtful.

His relationship with Farah turned to friendship. They even played games of rough and tumble and wrestled with each other. Perhaps Canden reckoned he had a future like his, as a master of battle, with his well-muscled build… but it didn’t alter the fact that he hadn’t killed all of the pups, as he was meant to. He never returned to his birth pack and now roams simply with his nephew. Who knows which wolves of his past he might encounter, and what he might inflict on them?
