-- SOTW PACK RANKING AND POSITIONS --

These ranks are given in order of hierarchy. The wolves in the Lower Ranks should all respect those within the Upper Ranks. That is the most crucial Part. However it should be noted that these ranks are put in order of the ability and skill needed to attain such a rank. Ergo, The chief hunter answer to all those above him in the Upper Ranks. Also, the messenger typically answers to all of the Lower Ranks, as well as those in the Upper Ranks.

The Lower Ranks are most often to have disputes on respect, as they tend not to agree that anyone not in the Upper Ranks are better than they are. However there are very few disputes in the Upper Ranks, and the Lower Ranks rarely ever disrespect the Upper Ranks. Below is a list, this is put in the correct order of who answers to who. Below that is a description of each title.

---------------
UPPER RANKS
---------------

- Alpha Male and Female (Usually 2 per pack)

These are the "top dogs" of the pack. What they say, goes. They are often the most strongest and greatest skilled of all the ranks. They make the important decisions regarding pack life. Such as where their territory lies and how large it should be extended. In times of trouble or raiding, however they often give a lot of strategic decisions to the Chief Raider, who is often the most experienced with such matters. They hold final say on who is allowed to be a part of the pack and on matters regarding ranks or promotion. They tend to be busy wolves and should typically be addressed only about important matters regarding the pack. If a wolf has troubles they should first speak to the Guardian, or Tutor. They are both in the Upper Ranks and their opinions matter a great deal to the alphas. Often they have the greatest temperament and most skills and abilities. The Alphas too, are often the greatest fighters. They are quick thinkers, able to think easily under extreme pressure involving the fate of the pack

---------------

-Alphan Heirs / Descendants

The alphas may select heirs or their own children who may take the throne if an impasse occurs. For example, if the Alpha was severely injured or has perished then the next in line must take the position of the Alpha when the time has come. Though they are made up of royalty they do not have any specific jobs but simply treated with the same level of respect as an alpha. They are also present when the alphans are absent due to council, war, et cetera. However, there is such a day called "Judgment Day" when each heir or descendant has the reins when he/she is old enough to have their first lesson of leadership. Thought the alphans are present they will accept their heirs choices until dusk, where their judgment is either declined or approved to have the potential of a leader.

---------------

- Beta Male and Female (Usually 2 per pack)

Second in command to the Alphas and often the ones most trusted by the Alphas, they often held run the pack with the less important matters. They will often see to it that everything is running smoothly, reporting to the Alpha with greater troubles which may be out of their control. They spend a great deal of time roaming the pack's territory, to see who are doing their jobs properly, and, who aren't. They are respected and answered to by all other ranks. Answering only to the alpha wolves. They often play the "right hand man" to the alphas. They are often well versed in all aspects of wolf life, as much as the Alphas. With great knowledge in Hunting Patrolling and Raiding. They, like the Tutors may spend a little of their time teaching, but their main priority is to keep things running smoothly. The Betas too, are often the greatest fighters, bar the Alphas. They are quick thinkers, able to think easily under extreme pressure involving the fate of the pack, working in conjunction with the alphas.

---------------

- Gammas ( 2 per pack )

Alike the Betas a gamma pair are the third line of ascendancy. Though they do not have much influence on the pack they lead the Guardians into battles, organize them, and command with strong omnipotence. The Gammas are also made up by the best of the best Guardians and usually won't tolerate anything. Their occupations also consists of being advisor's to the Beta pair, as well leading all Guardians into war.

---------------

- Guardians (Usually 2-3 per pack)

These are the wolves above all the others who are not Alpha or Beta wolves. They generally have a good knowledge of Hunting, Patrolling and Raiding. Often, they will roam the lands and confront intruders just as the Patrollers do. They are there as a backup to the Beta wolves, over seeing the Lower Rank packs.

---------------

- Maiden (Usually 1 per pack)

These wolves are typically female, having only one per pack they see to it that any pups in the lands are taken care of. Whether they be strays wandering in, or pups belonging to those who have become a part of the pack, they need to insure that the pups are kept under control. They should attempt to be at the scene of an "intruding" pup before a Patroller gets there, or often the pup may be killed. They tend to have a gentle touch and a good temperament. Their patience can often exceed that of the Alphas when it comes to pups.

---------------

- Tutor (Usually 1 per pack)

These wolves often work in conjunction with the Maiden. When the pups are of correct age, they'll be taken out into the wild by the Tutor and taught a great deal of lessons in life. They are often excellent story tellers and also have a great temperament. This position is often occupied by an older, respected wolf, who has spent a great many years with the pack

---------------

Delta ( 2 per pack )

The Delta pair are made up by the elders, who share their lessons, stories, and advice to the pack. Unlike the tutor the delta pair are actually wolves full of wisdom where their presence are needed during meetings or council. Where alike a messenger send a report back to the Alphas about issues and so forth. Besides representing for their leader the Deltas are also mentors and docents willing to pass their knowledge to anyone. If anything they are the peace keepers, trying to maintain bliss then war, treaties then violence.

---------------

- Chief Hunter (Usually 1 per pack)

The Chief Hunter, is the wolf which is appointed to oversee the other Hunters. Often this could be a Guardian, however if their are many numbers in a pack, then the best of all the Hunters after several hunts shall be appointed Chief Hunter. They take charge of the larger hunts which require three or more wolves and often dictate where the Hunters should seek out food. They show good leadership abilities, and great strategic prowess. (See Hunters)

---------------

- Chief Raider (Usually 1 per pack)

These wolves are simply the leaders of the raiders, again it could be a Guardian who would take such a position, due to their great knowledge in fighting, raiding, patrolling and otherwise. But if not, and if the numbers are large in a pack then the greatest of the Raiders, after several raids, shall be appointed Chief Raider. Like the Chief hunter they show good leadership abilities, and great strategic prowess. (See Raiders)

---------------
LOWER RANKS
---------------

- HUNTERS (Unlimited numbers per pack)

Usually these hunters have been trained by either the Alpha, Beta, or Guardian wolves, they being the only three groups who know the hunt any greater than these specialized Hunters. To be promoted to such a position they must have shown great knowledge in all areas of hunting.

How, When, and What.

- How:

They must have the expertise to be able to take down all animals, including wolves. Often with such knowledge the come in great aid to Patrollers when other wolves are called for at the scene of a confrontation. They must know how many wolves are needed to take down animals of a certain size, and are required to have the ability to take down smaller animals (such as rabbits) on their own, with ease. They must be skilled in keeping their scent hidden. They must be able to track on a number of levels, from ground scenting, to detecting and identifying various tracks left by either herds of animals or only single beings. They should also be able to spot at good distance an injured animal and be able to lead wolves to that animal with clear signals.

All Hunters are required to work together as a team, particularly for the larger animals. If they find that their numbers are not great enough they should call in reinforcements from the pack. Whoever is nearest, to assist. Anyone who joins a hunt follows the orders of the Chief Hunter or other hunters, apart from, of course, the Alpha, Beta and Guardian wolves.

- When:

They must keep on the ball by knowing their pack size and how often food should be killed to keep the pack fed on a regular basis. They should often be out checking up the available resources. That being, they should keep an eye on the number of the animals in the area. If for any reason the numbers decline, for disease, or other natural reasons, then they should broaden their search of the lands, informing the Alpha, Beta, or Guardian wolves they are doing so. Wolves often hunt at day or night, it does not matter when. But do not fret if the pack has to go for food, they may be able to go for days perhaps even weeks without it, if you find the weather is too harsh to hunt.

- What:

Wolves will hunt almost any type of animal, but common ones include:

Deer, Moose, Caribou, Elk, Rabbits and Birds. Hunters should know the difference between each and offer a balanced diet between all of the creatures, not simply going out and catching the easiest to locate. They should explore the pack territory and perhaps even neutral grounds time and again in case new sources of food appear.

They answer to the Chief Hunter

---------------

- Patrollers (Unlimited numbers per pack)

These wolves are required to have more patience than the hunters. They need to be able to arrive on the scene or intruders before any other wolf. They will often have a somewhat civil meeting with intruders, but that really depends on the packs preference and tolerance of intruders. Like the other Lower Ranks, their are often trained frequently and kept a close eye on by the Beta Wolves and Guardians.

---------------

- Raiders (Unlimited numbers per pack)

These are the spies. They often possess great abilities regarding stealth. They are secretive, quiet wolves who can easily find there way into enemy pack lands by a number of means. For example, disguising their own scent, acting, or simply just walking right on in as quietly as they can. Masters in the art of staying downwind, and out of detection of other wolves. After the raiders have declared than an area of land is "Raidable" they will be the first on scene. Raids are short battles often between large numbers of wolves in different packs. They should be planned beforehand and carried out by the Raiders, who will follow the tactics set down by the Chief Raider. They are some of the most skilled in fighting and general trouble causing. Their aim often to intimidate the other packs into giving up as much of their territory as they think it is safe to take.

---------------

- Messengers (1-2 per pack)

They, simply pass messaged either within the pack, or outside the pack. They Will send messages to other packs, for example, declarations of war or peace. Or may well work within the pack, sending messages from wolf to wolf, or in the most common case, from Lower Ranks to the Alpha. They often know what is happening all over the lands and are the ones to ask about any news upon the lands. Very nosy.

---------------

- Subordinates (Unlimited numbers per pack)

Just the starting rank for all new wolves. It is from here they must prove themselves and find a rank most suiting. If they fail to do so they shall be demoted to Omega.

Pups are considered subordinate until they learn their position and play a helpful role within pack life.

---------------

- Omega

The lowest of the low. These wolves often have been demoted for a wrong doings. A lack of disrespect to Upper Ranking wolves, or simple troubles they may have been the cause of. Also, if a Subordinate goes long enough they may find themselves as Omega if they do not try for a decent pack position.

NEW SKAH RANKS

Nurse/Serve: A wolf or wolfess who has great skill in the department of herbs, remedies and curing illnesses. If a male were chosen for that role, he would be called by the corresponding title "Serve" which is a male nurse in Scotland.
(Two or three at a time, depending upon the Amarth's moods)

Diplomats: Those assigned to dealing peacefully -- but forcefully -- with Amarths or unruly Loners. If their more subdued and subtle methods are ignored, they must then call in the Defenders to remove the unsavory beast. The RPer of a Diplomat must be active (On more than three times a week) and post when needed. Should the Alpha (Or RPer of the Alpha) find that your activity level is no conducive to the role, you will be demoted.
(Two or three at a time)

Representatives: Wolves chosen to represent the pack on diplomatic affairs with differing packs (Though the Alpha also accompanies them). They'd be upstanding, outgoing and ideal role-models of the Skah, holding to their beliefs and virtues. It would be an honor to be chosen as a Representative. Their roles include defending the Alpha on ventures including hostile packs, representing the pack in the absence of the Alpha and so on and so forth.
(One or two at a time, depending upon the need for them)

Defender: This wolf has been chosen because of skill, tactfulness, strength, build and character. Their duties are much like a Patrollers, the differing quality being that these wolves are aggressive when defending the Skah. Should an enemy appear on the land, the Defenders are called forth and remove the scoundrel by any means possible. They're typically (or preferred so) unattached, so as to have no leverage in battle. If a Defender mates, he has the choice of stepping down, or realizing that he is still required to give his all, even if it means death. The RPer of a Diplomat must be active (On more than three times a week) and post when needed. Should the Alpha (Or RPer of the Alpha) find that your activity level is no conducive to the role, you will be demoted.
(Unlimited)

Counselor: This is the therapist of the group. When a Skah wolf is emotionally troubled, the counselor will listen to their problems, offering advice to the best of his or her abilities. This wolf must be an outstanding example of the Skah's pure hearted nature. They must be very patient and a good listener. They're generally quite wise, so that they're able to give any advice that the wolf speaking to them might need or seek.
(1-2 per pack)

Uniter: This wolf can have many different tasks to accomplish. More often than not they are the ones to travel out of the Skah territory to scope out those wolves of pure heart living the Loners life. These wolves are sure pure of heart, but they have a need to give aide as well as to wander far off and explore what is around their own home lands. They can and will spend a great deal of time away from the pack, but in times of need, they will return home. They often travel within their group for extra protection. Often these wolves become the best of friends and the wolves who know the most about the bordering packs. They often return to the pack, reporting their findings, resting and then back to their ventures. Much like a spy, they are silent when stalking surrounding packs, out of sight and skilled in remaining undetected. Making their 'vacation' up to months at a time, they are typically unattached (unmated) to a non-member of the Uniters.
(Limit three or four)

AMARTH RANKS

General: (1)

This is the top of the top warrior, the elite you could say, the one that specialized in tactics and strategies and leads his warriors to battle. Like all generals do. Only one per warrior groups.

Warrior: (Unlimited)
These are the wolves who love to be in fights, and would die honorably with no hesitation for the Amarth. They are the toughest of the fighters besides the generals, they are above the rank of raiders, as they deal with more combat and enduring tasks. Number is Limitless

Berserker: (1-3)

These are the wolves that have no control in a fight, for example, Plar, they always go for the kill, no matter the cost. They almost loose themself in a rage, being able to take more pain, more readily then any other wolf. Being the stronger and deadly weapon to the Amarth. Bersekers are very aggressive wolves who could easily take on two wolves and have a good possibility of winning. Number is limitless.

Blood Guard: (1-2 wolves)

You could say these are the body guards of the Alphas, or the pups if there are any. These are the most fiercely loyal wolves in the pack that would fight to the end, protecting what they believe should be protected. These are also double-siding as the police of the pack. Settling any unwanted fights or arguments within the pack. Keeping order and strict control in the Alphas/Alphess's hands. They are brutal to get there point across but, they are fierce fighters, and have a useful brain upon there shoulders. They both consist of brawns and brains. Also the last-line defenders. Each wolf who wishes to become a Blood Guard would have to under go a variety of tests of body and mind, but they must have been in the pack for a good amount of time, be known with the pack and the alphas, and have proven themselves loyal, and useful to the pack in some way. No subordinates, Omegas, cannot become a Blood Guard, or any new comers. A wolf is to be either asked by an alpha/alphess to become a Blood Guard, or they either gather the courage enough to ask if they deemed themselves worthy enough to become one. Also they will be marked physically as the Blood Guard, for there could be no possible imposer.

New Isa'fea Ranks

+ Mistas: This wolf is somewhat of a yoga teacher. They are here to calm the nerves of others that seem restless and would rather be doing something that causes movement rather than admiring the work of the Designer. Normally the Mistas' will chose an area the Designer has worked on, practically meaning that the Mistas and the Designers work together in a way. The Mistas will never disrespect the Designers work and will use it to further calm each spirit of the Isi’Fea wolves. After all, the Isi’Fea are more of the spiritual type, they need to have some way of releasing the built up anger in a way they would not force them to take in out with physical force. (Limit usually one Either Gender)

+ Designer: These wolves are the ones with the more spiritual aspect to them. They spend their time making the land look more appealing to the eye and more satisfying to the soul. They will take their time in scouring the paths and ridding them of any branches or fallen trees. They love to make their lands full of color and more life. Their work can be put into one specific place so as others of their pack can seek shelter there and find peace within themselves. A place where they can rid themselves of their problems and relax for however long they are allowed. Heavens knows what would happen should another wolf or creature destroy their fine work. Though they aren't too much for talking, they can get pretty scornful should another destroy their master pieces. (1-3)

+ Healer/Healer-in-Training: The Healer is a wolf that knows many herbs and botanical remedies. They can whip up a mixture in an instant, and are quick to react to injuries within their pack. They are asked of by the other packs at times, when one inside of the other pack has horrible wounds. At these times, the Healer may or mayn’t venture to those lands, but not without getting something in return. They also will train the Healer-in-Training, teaching them everything and more there is to know about these things. (2 Healers, 2 Healer-in-Trainings)

+ Soothsayer: This is what would probably be best described as the shaman of the pack. They are very wise, more so than the Tutors, and may even hold Soothsayer as well as Tutor position. They know many superstitions, and may even live by some of them. They work with the Oracle, who tells first the Soothsayer on premonitions or omens before alerting the Alpha. (1)

+ Oracle: This is a seemingly prophet. They can foretell when something bad will happen according to certain things. These things could be the pattern in which the birds are flying and the weather conditions, alerting the Alpha on what they may mean. Sometimes they can have, or believe they have, a direct connection with the Gods. Other things could be premonitions, seeings, or other such things. They tie-in with the Soothsayers at many times.
