Description: I Never Thought I Could Fail.

Landshark - July 24, 2007 09:24 PM (GMT)
Name: Landshark

Nickname: Shark

Age: 4 Years

Gender: Male

Appearance:

Shark is slightly larger then the normal size of a grey wolf. His height is pretty average, but he is very broad and quite heavy. Although some of this is just from treating himself to extra meals, most of the weight is simply from the shear muscle that builds him. He is very physically fit and can outrun most wolves, and his reaction times are very quick. He has a ruffled coat of brown and black, while the hairs around his face, legs, and tail tend to be very dark. The only contrast is a small patch of white hairs on his chest. His tail is fairly long to the point where its black tip drags the ground, and his ears are quite tall as well. His eyes are an enchanting light brown and amazing to look at. He has a unique gait, with long strides and quick but careful steps. His paws and exceptionally large compared to those of most others but they allow him to walk silently. His voice is very deep but one wouldn’t really know for he tends to speak slowly in a very quiet yet firm tone. In general, the brute has a very healthy appearance and he greatly prefers to keep it that way.

Personality:

Landshark is a fairly intelligent wolf, especially when it comes to hunting or raids, do to his past. He is an excellent strategist and can usually come up with an answer to seemingly complicated problem in seconds. However, because of how he was trained when he was younger he isn’t very good in social situations. He isn’t exactly shy, but he just doesn’t really like talking to anyone unless it’s about important matters. He doesn’t really know how to talk about or describe his feelings, not that he would want to anyway. He learned from his father letting others understand how you feel all the time gives them an opportunity to learn your strengths and weaknesses.

He doesn’t feel comfortable giving his own opinion all the time, for he is used to just being told what to do and following through with those commands. Although not very good at talking in a casual group conversation or meeting, he feels right at home out in the field among other hunters or raiders. He is a naturally friendly guy who just prefers to do as he is told without any questions ask. He is extremely loyal to all he cares about, and he looks to his pack as his family.

History:

Landshark was born to an unfriendly pack with plans to take over and control as much of the pack’s surrounding as they could. His parents were the alphas of the pack and he was the first born in a litter of six. He, along with his four brothers and single sister, was raised as a fighter and forced to enjoy his work. They were taught to hunt and kill not too much longer after they learned to walk and they were also told that questions were bad. They were never allowed to ask why they had been raised the way were and so they didn’t. As they neared their first year of life, the daily hunting for the small prey they could handle and standing guard around their dens in the moonlight had become a routine. They never asked questions or wondered if being raised a killer was right or wrong, it was all they knew.

When Shark had first turned two, everyone in his litter was giving their first rank in the pack. He, along with his youngest brother and sister had been chosen to work as raiders while his other three brothers became hunters. It didn’t take very long for all six of the littermates to figure out how their jobs work and when most of them were offered other ranks such as messenger or patroller, they didn’t hesitate to turn it down.

Landshark was the quickest raider in his group to improve in both intelligence and endurance. The lead raider admired him greatly and always relied on his ‘star pupil’ to do everyone perfectly, and so he did. The group was sent out on eight different raids within the next year and each ended in success as the lead raider and Landshark led the group to victory. The pack had gained a lot of territory and patrollers were really needed. The lead raider decided his older age was preventing him from doing the best he could out on raids so he recommended to the alphas making Shark the lead raider in his place. They did just that and on the very day he became three years of age, Landshark become the lead raider. All the other raiders looked up to him, as did most the rest of the pack, and admired him.

Up until he turned four, he did an excellent job as a lead raider. Commanding others out in the field was no longer difficult, it all came naturally to him and he loved it. However, after another pack attacked his own in hopes of taking their territory and home back, he was never looked at the same way again.

The alpha told him to neutralize anyone who threatened their pack and he did so willingly. What he didn’t know was his mother’s sister was in the opposing pack and therefore his mother argued with the alpha not to harm her or her family. It angered the alpha that his own mate was willing to give up their rightfully owned territory for her sibling’s sake and in his state of fury, attacked her. Another member of their pack jumped in to try and stop the fight however the alpha grabbed him by the neck and tossed him to the side entirely oblivious to the fact that it was his youngest son. Landshark, who had been in a different area fighting, returned to see his brother and fellow raider laying near dead on the ground and his father’s teeth latched on his helpless mother’s face.

He hesitated, not knowing how to respond. He was trained to do what he was told with no questions and he had been told to kill all threats. Wasn’t his father being a threat himself? Then he made up his mind of what to do. He had been told multiple times by everyone in the pack that duty was more important then family, so he lowered his head and rammed the unsuspecting alpha. The older wolf toppled to his side and didn’t even have a chance to respond before the lead raider’s jaws were clasped tightly around his throat. Despite his thrashing, he couldn’t rid himself of his son and slowly suffocated.

Only when Shark was certain the threat was neutralized, he let go and turned away from his dead father’s body to see the rest of the pack staring at him in shock. Though Shark had saved her life, the belligerent alphess hissed the two words Shark feared the absolute most. “You’ve failed.” And with that, the pack turned on him and prepared to kill the once mighty raider they had looked upon with such high expectations. They chased him far off past the land's borders and only stopped when they had lost track of the other’s trail. Landshark watched from a far distance as he saw his pack come to a river he had entered and lost his scent. He had stayed in the water and walked a distance downstream before exiting, a little trick he picked up from the previous lead raider. But now with no family or home, Landshark stood in absolute confusion. Why had he failed? He had just done as he was told. Knowing that there was no way to return to his past, the brute left. He had to find a new home and a new pack as well.
