Fight Rules
Alright all, listen up. The fighting rules are pretty simple – most of them are basic common sense. How well you follow these rules will determine the outcome of the fight, so I suggest you read them.
General Rules:
-Godmoding is NOT TOLERATED. It is impossible for your wolf to dodge every attack, and come out of a fight with virtually no injuries. Visualize the fight and think to yourself, can I dodge that? Most often, the answer is no. The most common exception is if your opponent did not properly explain where the attack was aimed, or what he planned to do.
-No Powerplaying! This basically means that you can control your wolf, and your wolf alone. You cannot set the damage your attack causes; that is up to your opponent. For Example:
With a snarl of rage, Rajani's slender form sliced the air, her ivory daggers connecting with Medio's throat(sorry Medio!) With a jerk, she tore her head downward, and took with it the brute's life Is not an acceptable post.
This is how it should be done:
With a snarl of rage, Rajani's slender form sliced the air, her ivory daggers aiming for Medio's throat. If she were lucky, perhaps they would connect and steal the brute's life.
To which Medio might reply:
The femora launched herself from the ground, her teeth inches from his neck.
Medio twisted his head lower to protect his fragile neck, though the teeth did graze the top of his head rather painfully, leaving a crimson line in their wake.
See how that works? Pretty simple.
-There is a limit of TWO ATTACKS per post
-If you followed all the rules thus far, your Fight will be judged by a Fight Mod after your limit of 10 posts to each combatant. Don’t argue the decision of the Mod! The Fight is judged on description, accuracy, realism and skill.
-You will instantly lose your fight if you do not reply within 48 hours (that’s two days, people) of your opponent’s last post.
Starting Your Fight:
Quite obviously, you must have a decent reason to be fighting. Perhaps a brawl over food, mates, or lands, or maybe your wolf was insulted or mocked.
No matter what the cause, though, you must post a fighting application in the “Fighting Applications” board. Simple enough, right? The Fighting Application, as set by Bane, is pretty simple.
Name of wolves that are going to fight: Well, it’s pretty obvious what goes here. Include the names of ALL the fighters.
Pack: Both the Pack Lands where the fight will be held, and the packs of each of the participants.
Reason for fight: This is where you state an overview of why you are fighting. Were you insulted? Is there a fight over a female? State so here.
Type of fight(Brawl, Serious, Death Match): This is where you will state the type of Fight, as explained below.
Types of Fights
Brawl: Brawls are generally small fights, in which the participants do not receive lasting injuries of any sort.
Serious: A bit worse than Brawls, the combatants of a Serious Fight may receive lasting injuries, such as scarring or broken bones. There is, however, no death.
Death: The most serious of all the fights, Death Fights always result in one or more wolves dieing. These deaths can be prearranged, or can be determined by the Fight Mod. I
Of course, no one is expected to know exactly when a fight will occur, therefore you are allowed a few posts containing insults, jeers and other ‘warm ups’. But keep in mind, you may only have ONE ATTACK to each player before posting a Fighting Application, and these posts will not be counted as one of the 10 posts to each player that make up a full fight.
During Your Fight:
The way you post during the fight will, obviously, determine it’s outcome. Follow these few rules, and your fight should go smoothly.
-Description is, by far, the most important thing in fighting. Where are you attacking? What are you doing as your attack? Fights are not judged solely on the damage delivered, but more how it was delivered. Here is an example:
Rajani lunged at Shadow, aiming to hit his shoulder.
and Shadow were to say:
Shadow felt the pang of pain as Rajani connected with his shoulder, her teeth bearing marks into it's tender flesh.
We'd have some problems with those. See, even though, according to Shadow, Rajani's attack hit home, it would not be counted in a fight scenario! The judge would simply pretend the attack didn't happen! Why? (Well...It's under five sentences..) Because, it was not descriptive! Lets dissect these posts, and see what went wrong.
Rajani lunged at Shadow.. Bad already. She lunged. Okay, to do what? Did she want to bite it? Scratch it? Lick it?? Moving on:
...aiming to hit his shoulder. It's good that Rajani mentioned that she was aiming, not connecting with, but it's still rotten. From which side did Rajani come from? The back? The front? The left? The right? We have no clue where she hit!
So, all in all, the score would be:
Rajani: one attack, no defense, no injuries
Shadow: no attacks, no defense, no injuries
Now, don't get your fur all in a knot. I'm not making this up. This is the way Fight Mods judge, and I'm just warning you, if you’re not descriptive - you'll lose. Flat out.
Now, for that attack to be valid, it would need to be something more along the lines of:
Rajani crept forward behind Shadow, trying to catch him off guard. She darted forward, circling around him to get a decent shot. Then, muscled curling, she lunged, fangs bared and ready to bite. The tender flesh of his shoulder was her aim, but would she hit it?
See, simple enough. (though more to the post would have been much better; it’s a bit short!)
- You may only have TWO ATTACKS per post, and they may be a bite, scratch with forepaws, or a kick with rear paws.
- Keep it realistic! Your wolf isn’t an acrobat; it can’t do a barrel roll in midair. The thing I see most often, and that really irks me, is ‘She jumped over him..’. No, no, no, no, no! It would be nearly impossible for a wolf to leap over another, especially if the wolf in question had injuries.
- Keep your moves completely Lupine. You cannot punch. You cannot back flip. You definitely can’t shoot a gun or use anything but your paws, teeth, and perhaps sand or mud as a weapon.
