Title: Sniper- Accepted

Sniper - April 13, 2006 01:29 AM (GMT)
And here's LM's character for the Notorious Five!

Name: Sniper

Age: 2 1/2 years

Gender: Male

Pack: Loner

Position:

Appearance: Sniper is mostly arctic wolf, giving him a mostly white pelt. However, he does have small traces of timber wolf in his lineage, and that gave him a black right aud, the left aud being white like the rest of him. You can tell that his fur is long just by looking at his extremely bushy tail. His pelt is long and thick, keeping him warm in the winter months. He is about average size, perhaps just a bit bigger than average, for a male wolf. He is well muscled, but overly so. His optics are reddish-gold in color. They generally do a good job of showing what emotion he is feeling, unless he makes a point to hide it. Sniper's gait is mostly smooth and silent, though when he runs you can hear the footfall. He can move very quickly when he needs to, seeming to be quite agile, which helps him in battle.

Personality: Having had some access to his loving mother for the first two years, there is a very small part of Sniper that could be classified as kind. However the rest of his first two years of life had been spent enduring rather harsh treatment and being trained in the ways of evil. Therefore, evil, or at least rather brute unkindness is what you will see most of the time. He is not one to start fights, unless he has reason to do so or strongly dislikes the other wolf. However, you can bet that once he's in a fight, he will not be merciful to his opponant. And when I say he's not one to start fights, he can sometimes consider another wolf looking at him the wrong way 'starting the fight', meaning, it can provoke him to aggression. If he were a human in a prison, you would classify Sniper as a hardened criminal whose gentle side had been long since buried by harsh treatment. The only wolf ever to have seen his kind side was his mother, and it would be unlikely anyone ever would again. Sure, perhaps he would make some friends and act in a manner that might be termed friendly, but the truely pure side of him was just buried too deep to be likely to surface again. Most wolves he'd encountered were evil, and in his mind, allowing softness to show would be a sign of weakness, so he will likely forever live a hardened life.

History: If Sniper's mother had been in a better situation while pregnant, perhaps he would have grown up not so inclined towards malice. However, that was not meant to be the case. You see, Sniper's mother, Mia, was a loner whose mate had been killed by a human hunter about halfway through the pregnancy. Sniper was the only pup in the pregnancy, so she only grew a bit around the abdomen, but it was clear that that one pup was beginning to take its toll on the widowed wolfess. As the pregnancy progressed, she found it hard to hunt, and didn't get enough to nurish the both of them, and so she began to grow thin. One day, she sought out a pack to join so that she could get enough food for her litter, not knowing how many there would be. Unfortunately, Mia came upon an evil litter who required a price for her joining. Any pups born in the litter would be raised to be fierce, malicious fighters. Mia was grieved at this, but felt she had no alternative. At least she and the litter would be alive, right? So, she gave birth to her single pup and raised him with love until weaning, hoping that she could still show him love even when he was being trained with evil.

Once weaned, Mia was allowed only very limited access to her cub, who the Alpha and Alphess would not allow her to name, saying they would give him a name later. The Alphas did not want the pup to become too accustomed with love, for fear he would grow up kind like his mother. The Alpha wanted to kill Mia at that point or at least send her on her way, as the pack had no more use for her, but the Alphess had another idea. Let her stay, and have some access to her son, and when the pup was a trained fighter, order him to kill her. This would test his loyalty to the pack. So, she had a small bit of time each evening to spend with him, but the rest of his time was spent learning the ropes of the pack. He was trained to fight, to ambush an attack from a concealed location. He was treated rather harshly by the adults of the pack, so he grew believing that most wolves were unkind. At a year and a half of age, he was finally given the name Sniper, as he had grown so good at attacking from a concealed ambush position. At two years of age, the time came that he was ordered to kill his mother.

The Alphas brought Mia and Sniper to their den, saying that Mia was too kind and was of no use to the pack. They had Mia in one location and Sniper in a concealed location, where he could see her. They ordered him to attack. But because of the kindness, albeit limited, that he'd received from his mother, this wolf wasn't all evil. He did have a softness in his heart, although only his mother was on the receiving end, as any other wolf who he knew treated him poorly. And so, he refused to murder his mother. The Alphas grew angry and tried to attack him, but Sniper was too quick. He escaped from the den quickly and ran from the lands. He now travels as a loner, not sure where he'll end up. He's about 80% evil, so one might think him a good match for the Amarth. However that other 20% of him would probably disqualify from him. His gentler side doesn't come out often, but it's there, so he would be a poor candidate for the Amarth. Likely, he'll remain a loner for his life, perhaps team up with some other less than kind wolves.
