Name: Silven
Age: Two years
Gender: Female
Mother: Agrats
Father: Arohkien
Pack: Amarth
Position: Messenger
Appearance: Silven is a solid black wolf, not a pale hair on her body. Her eyes are deep emerald and glow with intelligence and cunning beyond her years. This young wolf is slightly taller than average and has a rather normal build naturally, but at the moment she is thin and wirey from living on a very lean diet and spending most of her days on the move. Silven walks with a slight, confident spring to her step but with the quick, knifing precision of a circling shark. Her face can be as unreadable as stone and more often than not is, she is an expert at hiding her feelings. Like a shadow or a raven in flight, this wolf can move in silence and is hard to detect when she doesn't want to be found. She is a fair fighter, but is built and wired more for spying. She doesn't mind getting her coat dirty, so it can have a rather spiky and unkempt look to it. Ordinarily, when clean, it is glossy, black, longish, and not very soft. She used to carry herself with proud and an "owns-the-world" walk in her youth, but now favors a more slinking sort of motion. She shows no fear of anything in demeanor and she is fast on her feet both literally and mentally, like any good spy should be. She can appear innocent and sweet while lying to your face. Silven can look forward to being a decent hunter. She is growing to be a pretty young female, and you can safely bet that she will use it to her full advantage.
Personality: Silven is a clever, calm, and quiet young wolf and makes sharp observations. She can hold her tongue when she needs to or feels like it and easily mask her emotions with the innocent, grinning mask of the youthful and ignorant. Silven can lie to your face without you detecting it.
If you give Silven a reason to hate you, though, you may never know it. She will get her revenge through subtle manipulations and pulling the strings of others like puppets. She can be considered rather selfish in her means of getting her own ends, even from a young age. This was strongly enhanced by her stint of life with the savage, ever-shifting Daerok wolves.
But if Silven is on your side, she will treat you well. She will probably a spy or double agent when she is fully grown. Silven's trust is difficult to earn but it may be well worth it. She tends to know and understand more than most adults would believe. Curiosity is another trait of Silven's, and she will explore anything new without fear. Even if she does get scared, it will not show unless its the sort of shock that rattles her to the very bottom of her soul.
Silven does trust one wolf, Skath. Her life was saved by this small female and so she respects her. Silven and Skath look after each other, and Silven accepts Skath's teachings readily. Though it is against her better judgement, Silven has made a friend.
Silven's memory was damaged when she fell into the Saereg River and was swept away in the cold water. She has only vague recollections that she was with a pack, she doesn't even remember the name Amarth. However, she remembers a few smells that she will likely react to if she encounters them again, such as that of her mother. Her half-memories often confuse and disconcert Silven, but she hides it. Silven mostly looks forward now to finding out what they all mean and where she came from.
History: Silven is a wolf of frightening parentage. One of the many children of the Amarth Alphas Arohkien and Agrats, she has potential to be a mighty and dangerous wolf. She spent most of her first year of life in the dens of the Amarth, learning hatred of the Skah wolves and nurturing darkness in her heart. However, things do not always go to plan. Especially when young wolves are involved.
Silven wandered away from the dens one day, feeling especially clever. However, she fell into the waters of the Saereg River and was swept away. It is a wonder that young Silven did not die in the freezing water, but was finally pulled ashore far from home.
Her savior was the Omega wolf of the Daerok pack, a stocky black-and-white fae known as Skath. She was sister to the Alpha, but each hated the other with conviction. Skath was denied her heritage by the fact her eyes were blue, and her brother Larion feared that her existence threatened his power. (For details, see her profile)
After pulling Silven from the river, Skath warmed and dried her and caught food for the half-drowned wolfling. Silven was dazed and confused, but recovered fairly quickly from her little dip. Skath adopted her into the Daerok pack. Although the Omega wolf and therefore with no power, few trifled with Skath and Larion let it slide. It was, he decided, not wise to lose several of his best warriors in a fight to put her in her place. His sister may have been small, but she was a very formidable opponent.
So it was Skath that protected and taught Silven for the season she spent in the Daerok pack. It was a hard winter, and Silven learned more than she would have thought possible. Her lies became smooth and perfect, she grew into a slim, beautiful, and indetectable young shadow. Skath couldn't have been prouder if Silven were her own daughter. In only a short time, their friendship was cemented.
Finally, Larion began to plan to drive Skath away from the Daerok pack. Rather than give him the satisfaction of doing so, Skath decided to leave. Silven followed happily. As much as it suited her, Silven was not happy in the Daerok pack. The constant turmoil of shifting alliances was no place to grow up, and Silven's "talents" in mistruth were easier to spot there.
The duo headed upstream because they had little better to do, trying to find the lands where Silven came from. They took a few months to get here and have spent a year living in the unclaimed territories, learning and observing. They nearly did join the Din'dea pack, but Silven talked Skath out of it.
Silven abandoned Skath a little later, frustrated by the older wolf's attempts to keep her away from the Amarth pack. Silven returned home to a subordinate position and was happier than she had been in some time. Now she still has to see what's happened in her absence...
