Title: Extremely Important!!!!!
Description: Admins and everyone MUST read.

Winnie - December 4, 2005 02:28 AM (GMT)
*coughs* It has come to my attention that the posts here are very short. I am extremely sorry to say this and I understand there is not much to work with but I think we could be doing much better. When I first came here as Makoto I could not keep up but I did expand to a paragraph. People here with much more experience than I had then are posting less than I did as a beginner and that is sad. I understand we all have very busy lives. Me myself have taken up piano, possibly volleyball, and I have friends too. Also I do church quizzing every Sunday, Saturday, and Wednesday yet I still post a good length if not a bit skimpy. I would like to discuss this with all of you. I have seen a few that I would not leek to point out in the Skah pack meeting posting very poor lengths. It is a beginner rpg I know but we are not beginners are we? Now what I am asking is could mods and admins raise the posting limit or at least be strict about our current one? Also spelling is atrocious at times. USE A WORD PROCESSOR! Now please post your ten cents worth here below V.

-Raises fists in anger- Here, here! I am in total agreement. I am not the most advanced RPer, nor do I consider myself a good one, but people, some of these replies you're making are simply horrifing! There is - I believe - a PARAGRAPH limit to all responses. Not many of us strive to do even that. Five to eight sentances, not that difficult is it?

And, as mentioned above, Word has a program called SPELL CHECK. Some of you -Cough- not to be named have no concept of that. If you don't have Word, then go BACK through it, add detail and check your grammar! I do that, and most of my posts are legible.

I'd also like to add that there is simply to much OoC arguments [in the public] that should be discussed via PM. I am guilty of it, and I am ashamed. I appologize to all. But it's a problem, realize it or not.

Okay, done ranting. Ya'll go nuts!

Winnie - December 4, 2005 02:47 AM (GMT)
*coughs and me Gill* Any who he is right! Yes we are eager to post I know but you are using too much talky and much too less detail. Like this is an example of a post I see all the time that gets on my nerves!

Post example:

Hey Shadow! He said looking at her. When's the meetin startingh? He sat down and waited for ShaDow to rply.

See? Yes that actually happens all the time! Just go look at the Skah terra. And the whole posting for several charries in one post with posts like that above is annoying! If you are really that much of a lazy bum not to be able to wait and post for one charrie on their proper account with a proper eight sentence paragraph then go to another charrie's account the next day and do the same you are not fit for more than two characters.

((excuse my spelling))

Agrats - December 4, 2005 03:35 AM (GMT)
I agree... I have what? Nine characters here and eight on other sites and I can still post over three paragraphs if I really wanted to. I post at least two and they are pretty heavy paragraphs. Some of them are pointless since I get bored but they still have a good length to them XD I think I had a sudden burts with Thunder, Starga, and Agrats cuz they are giganto XD

Tain - December 4, 2005 03:42 AM (GMT)
{this is amanda with a new character}

If people read the rules that Karli posted before when she was an admin, the site guidelines read that you must post 15 sentances per post.

People ignored the rule and I guess people sort of gave up trying to correct them. I think that the admins (that includes me) should try and set an example for the others. Make your posts longer, and try to get atleast 15 sentances. If youre brain dead, well thats great, dont post and wait until inspiration comes back to you^^ Theres no harm in that.

Another thing that I wanted to add here, as this has sort of something to do with this. Could people please use an order when they post? It bugs the hell out of me to come back from two hours of doing something, and finding that there are three pages to read through.

There is an order to follow, even if its not stated.

For example: (random wolves)

Winnie, Fal, and Tain are in a thread together.

Winnie posts first, Fal second and Tain third. You would continue in that order and not change it, even if someone leaves and comes back on two or three hours later. I think its unfair to come back and see that the other two wolves have been having a lengthy conversation and your wolf has sort of been pushed to the side, and jsut because you have a real life and had to go and tend to something.

If this becomes a tad confusing create a list at the beginning of the thread,

ex:

Winnie, Fal, Tain

When its Fals turn to post, just make his name bold, and so on, so that you can keep track of whos turn it is to post.

This should also be used in pack meetings, gang meetings, or when there is more then two wolves in a group in my humble opinion. ^^

I agree with all of this...but...I'm a little confused as to why this is in the Plot Ideas forum...?

[This is Fal on my other account]

I'm not sure I agree with Amanda, but it's not a bad idea. I personally think that would get too complicated after a while, and I know it would confuse the simple. [Such as mua]

Karli, I am in uber confusion as well. Perhaps it's a plot to corrupt and destroy all illiteracy! -Maniacal laughter- Bwahaha!

I'm sorry. -Cough-

Anyhow, POWER TO THE INTELLEGENT!

I done. -Shuffles away-

-Gilligan

P.S: I like the Siggy Karli, but where's the other ear? I just noticed that. XP

My apologies for only just now discovering this thread...

And I'll admit I'm horrible at posing multiple wolves in one post if they're in the same topic. *Makes mental note to self to correct this habit*

I do have a tad bit of confusion reguarding post length requirements. I'm going to say what I recall to the best of my memory, and hope it is accurate. I apologize if I get anything wrong. Also, I'm not in anyway trying to argue...I'm happy to fulfill post length requirements...I'm just trying to pin down what it is...

For the first little while after I joined (as Snowcone), in the rules it stated you must have 5 sentences. Soon after, Karli changed it to 15. Some time after that, (Dusky?) reopened the board and (I assume she's the one who) editted the rules thread to say this:

QUOTE
* Please make all of your in-character posts about 10 sentences long - or more if you can manage it!

So...I know it's either 10 or 15...? The last thing I knew the requirement was was 10, so I try to make at least that, although admittedly I need to count my sentences to be sure I'm doing even that. But could somebody clear up the confusion so I can do what is expected?

QUOTE
I am not the most advanced RPer, nor do I consider myself a good one

Please tell me I did not just read that. You're one of the best RPers I think I've had the pleasure of RPing with. :)

I completely agree with you guys--a lot of people are managing to bypass the rules, especially if they're playing pups. I can understand that they don't socialize very much at such a young age, and I'm guilty of posting less when on my pup's account too. But people need to understand that they're wolves as well, and there are countless abstract concepts they could have their character discover just to have more to write about^^

Another thing--elaboration works quite well. We don't want our luffly members to randomly squish nonsense into their purtty posts just to fill up space and have it turn out badly. A helpful hint for those of you that struggle with this is to describe the scenary, thoughts, influences or whatever you like to add detail to your post. As was stated before, it gives us so much more to work with. :)

As for what Amanda said, taking turns to post is actually done on Hellfire (probably on other sites, too) and it works quite nicely. If people could be patient enough to await a response from the other, everyone could feel more involved--if it takes to long for the other to reply (meaning they're busy with real life and can't attend to a role-playing game for a while) that's what liquid time if for.

As for the required length...I would say keep it at 10, then gradually increase the number of sentences to 15 once our site gets more advanced. Forcing those who only regularly post about 5 sentences to increase tp 15 might not work out too well....O_O

Anyway, thanks for posting this, Takiel--it is a matter overlooked long enough and needs to be fixed.

I agree completely. I admit that I'm guilty of one-paragraph posts, because I didn't realize that the 15-sentence rule still existed. I'm going to shoot for 15-20 now, though. I play on a lot of advanced sites, so I know I can do it. Also, I use spell check for each post. Anyway, enough about me.

One thing that annoys me is when people have three sentences describing what goes on and a whole paragraph of speech. Personally, I don't count my charries' speech as sentences and try to aim for at least one paragraph of actual descriptions. It is just way too easy for people to make their posts long with speaking and suchlike. Anyone can have their character launch into a huge speech - anyone! What many people can't do is post the required number of sentences and actually describe what the wolves do and what happens around them.

A made-up example:
"He walked up to the attractive dark-furred femme. Although the brute was nervous, he said, 'Hello, my name is Billy Bob. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah..."

And then he would continue to speak, using up about eight of the ten or so required sentences, and the person would only have to put some effort into two or three of of their sentences. This isn't fair to the people here who actually use vivid, beautiful descriptions in their posts. I understand that some people have simply adapted to posting in this style, but I think it might be a good idea to make a new posting rule: that characters' speech does not contribute to the number of sentences typed. This is sort of harsh, but does anyone agree?

Uhh? *looks confused with self* I have no idea why I posted this here either. XD I guess because the news seemed like too am important place for me but I guess thsi is really a concern huh? *shakes fists at short posts* Here is an example of what a pup's post could be like instead of the one line of talk and one line of action like in the current Skah meeting.

Example:

Jugler quietly crept into the meeting feeling uterly suberegerd in confusion. The other wolves seemed like large towars compared to his small and meek form. Quietly the brown male made his way inbetween the legs of a rather angry motehr wolf. She shouted alon giwht many others at the alpha in the middle with a fury that almost scarred the blue eyed cutie out of his skin. When would he ever fit in. Still confused as to what was going on Jugler just sat quietly on his haunches and waited patiently to be noticed, or perhaps trampled.

See how easy that was? I almost went onto my third paragraph with this little guy but decided that would be too lon goof an exaple. Something LIke that is minimum.
