Title: Bakari- Accepted
Description: ...I am "Promise"...

Bakari - August 29, 2005 12:24 AM (GMT)
Name: none yet (Bakari will eventually be her name, but she will be named by another wolf—I hope that makes sense)
Age: a little over ten weeks
Gender: female
Pack: loner
Position:

Appearance: Still a pup, she carries all the characteristics of her age: she is rather clumsy, though so far has had luck enough not to gain any scars. Unlike some of the more healthy pups, however, she is quite thin and weak because of the time she’s spent wandering without a mother. Her pelt is pure black, though when the sun hits it directly it sometimes seems to carry traces of red. Her eyes are as dark as her pelt, and though they are brown they are so dark they look like pools of shadow. Strangely for their color, they can convey a range of emotions, though they are usually calm and difficult to read, even at her young age. Even though she is still young, her features are beginning to show traces of the wolf she will be when she grows older; she is growing into a long, lean frame. This suggests that later in life she might not be particularly good at brawling, but wonderful for sneaking around and being stealthy. Her movements, when not impaired by lack of food, are swift and fluid, and she should someday be an excellent runner. Her voice is high-pitched now, but will eventually become lower and softer, and even now her vocals are smooth and controlled when she’s calm.

Personality: As she is so young, her personality hasn’t had much chance to develop beyond being exuberant and friendly, seeking out the friendship of other wolves. However, because of her mother’s death, these characteristics have been dulled somewhat. She is also a quiet one by nature, and will usually think before doing anything, unless she is particularly distraught. Even so young she is quite analytical and very intellegent, and finds it more interesting at times to sit back and watch other wolves, rather than taking part in what they are doing. She enjoys quiet, and would like being by herself if she wasn’t still trying to get over the shock of losing her family. Also because of this, she is very jittery of late, and frightens easily. However, deep within her there is a natural tendency to stand up for herself, and a deep-seated bravery that needs time to manifest throughout her persona. All of that aside, there is also a side of her that loves being around other wolves and thrives on quiet company, provided that they don’t annoy her.

However, it should be noted that many of the above traits haven’t become obvious yet due to her age.

History: The only reason that this particular pup has no name is because she has no family. Her mother did name her, but that name died when her mother did. Indeed, she has been lucky to survive as far as she has, but will not for much longer without the help of other wolves.

Her mother was a large, kindhearted wolfess, and though she was a loner she had a devoted mate. However, soon after their litter was born, consisting of four pups (three males and one female), he left to hunt and did not return. Grief-stricken, the pup’s mother stayed with them as long as she could, giving them what little nourishment she had in her, before she, too, had to leave them to hunt. The first half-dozen times she did this all went well; her mother returned with game and milk for her pups, and the four grew rapidly and were happy, the only thing missing in their lives being the warm presence of their father. Unfortunately, they were fated to lose their mother soon, as well; one night, after several days away, the wolfess returned, bleeding profusely and with only enough strength in her body to reach her pups one last time. It was lucky that by that time the puppies had been weaned, but only barely, and they were all shaken to the core by the death of their mother, something they could barely grasp so soon in their lives. It is most likely that their father, as well as their mother, met their fate hunting in another pack’s lands for better game, and were caught by the wolves of that territory.

Distraught and alone, the four pups wandered from the place of their mother’s death, trying to fend for themselves and failing miserably. They trudged through snowy landscapes, but, unable to hunt for themselves save for an occasional rabbit or squirrel that crossed their path, the three male pups eventually died, leaving the one female to fend for herself. Her future, at this point, is uncertain.

To the Admin: I’m sorry that her history is so short, but I will add to it as soon as more happens to her. If it can’t be accepted as-is, I’d love some ideas as to what to write. Thanks!
