I don’t believe in admins getting off scot-free without anyone to criticise their sheets, so I’d appreciate it if somebody made a comment on this!
Name: Dusky
Age: 3
Gender: Male
Pack: Loner
Position:
Appearance: Dusky is of fairly unusual appearance, his coat brindled honey and wheat tones, a rinse of wan grey spreading from his forehead, across his shoulder-blades and down his spine. Blonde tints ebb over his cheeks and down his throat, creating an image of a desert sandstorm sweeping across his pelt. His eyes are of a similar colour, like pale cornfields caught under a diluted sun, yet they shimmer with saucy mischievousness.
His face is that of a harmless trickster, a lopsided and cheerfully cocky grin always on his maw – one ear characteristically tilts back, usually accompanied by a self-confident raised eyebrow. He gait could easily be described as more of a saunter than a walk – or even a swagger, when he’s feeling particularly pleased with himself. Despite his sanguine attitude, however, he does have a vaguely feminine appearance, his body long, lean and supple rather than bulked with brutish muscle, making him built more for speed than for fighting – but by the (innocent) boasts that trip off his tongue, he’d like you to think otherwise.
Personality: Dusky is very noticeably a show-off. He enjoys nothing more than hatching epic stories of events that (supposedly) happened in his life – how he fought such-and-such, how he was almost killed by so-and-so, and when he finds a wolf who will actually listen to his heroics – well! He’s in heaven.
It’s doubtful that Dusky will ever settle down with a pack, he’s too independent for that. He’d love to be popular, of course, but a habit of enjoying being deliberately uncooperative at times would plant him firmly at the bottom rung of any hierarchy, and where would he be then? Certainly without the reputation he so enjoys as a loner.
Nevertheless, under the roguish streak, Dusky is a complete and utter sweetheart, loyal beyond belief and with an ‘I’ll save you!’ attitude that… sometimes causes him to dive headfirst into the most stupid of situations. Cross a klutz with a lack of respect for danger and you have yourself a loose cannon, which describes this wolf perfectly.
History: His undaunted character would never have developed if Dusky hadn’t been a figurehead in his litter. He was the loudest, most boisterous pup in his pack, and certainly didn’t know when enough was enough; so frequently put a paw over the line. Still, an overactive imagination was encouraged of him, and indeed, some of the brags he churns out nowadays are developments of adventures he used to cook up as a youngster…
**********************
“I’ll play the bear, and you can play yourselves!”
The pup shook his coat until his sand-mottled fur stuck up around his neck in a spiky ruff, and he stomped stiff-legged over to the group of three, mouth as wide as he could open it in an imitation of a grizzly roar, before he abruptly skidded to a halt, a bemused, but annoyed frown touching his cubbish features.
“You’re supposed to run away, you know…”

Life wasn’t all fun and games for Dusky, however. He started to feel restricted by his pack, and he was more interested in enjoying himself than helping out. If truth must be told, he didn’t want to grow up. Everyone started to think of him as immature, still a pup in a grown wolf’s body. What was even more annoying for him was the way his littermates became physically stronger than him – play fighting wasn’t quite as fun when you weren’t as likely to win.
**********************
“I want to see the world. I want to be free. All we ever do is sit here and do ‘pack meeting’ or ‘hunt plan’.”
The adolescent was definitely in a bad mood, his shoulders hunched, that distinctive bristly scruff sticking up at every angle and framing his body. It only made matters worse that everyone, his father, mother, uncle, brothers, sisters, cousins, auntie, and all of those loners who weren’t related to him – everyone seemed to tower over him at that point. He didn’t want to feel so small.
“Those things are important, son,” replied a scarred but wise looking male. “You need to do these things to live in a pack.”
“Maybe I don’t want to live in a pack!” he quipped quickly. “In fact – you know what? I don’t. I’m leaving.”
**********************
So, Dusky found himself all alone in the world, without a pack to turn to.
And he loved it.
Of course, the going was a little tougher for him than he imagined, and he wasn’t quite as ready for it all as he had thought he was. At first, he got into a few fights, but luckily these knocked some sense into him rather than knocking out any teeth.
It didn’t mean, of course, that he couldn’t still pretend...
**********************
“Oh yes. Yes, the bear… now, I escaped that maybe… six months ago now?”
A youthful looking male animatedly told tales of his bravery to two giggling she-wolves, circling around them – quite the charmer, really, they thought. He was a fool – in the nicest possible way, and a little vain, but really quite lovely underneath it all.
“But sir, how did you fight it?” asked one with a vaguely mocking chuckle. “Aren’t bears really, really big?”
“Why, my dear!”
His grin slipped easily across his face; that well practised expression of suave mischief appearing with a raised eyebrow.
“Why… it was very simple. I didn’t feel the need to fight the creature, I simply tricked it – now, you see. Bears have a particular weakness for…”
**********************
This new life appealed very much to Dusky – he was completely in his element. Perhaps one day he would settle down, though probably not without a little reluctance. After all, his mindscape was that if it works for you, why change it?
