Title: Best Pf Dvds
Description: what should I get

CharadeIAm - June 28, 2006 07:44 AM (GMT)
I posted this on PFO too, but I might as well post it here too, I just really want to get anything Floyd as long as it is worth the money:

I was looking on Amazon.com for any Floyd dvd's that I would want, and I saw one called Reflections and Echoes.  I was wondering if anyone has heard of this and if so is it good?
I also saw: Classic Albums: the making of DSOTM
The Syd Barrett Story
London Live 66-67
and Pulse, which I already know I will buy
If anyone has reviews of any of these and which you think would be best it would be appreciated..thanks!

London 1966/1967 is a CD and DVD. The CD has only 2 songs: Interstellar Overdrive (16:46), and Nick's Boogie (11:50) which are both pretty good IMO. You should only buy it if you enjoy the early Syd years and extended improv. Especially on Overdrive.

No need to explain Pulse, that is a must-have IMO for any Floyd fan.

I don't have Classic Albums: DSOTM so I can't say anything about that.

Reflections & Echoes, I have not heard of it, I'll have to check it out. It might be new..

The Live At Pompeii DVD is also a great watch for fans. Great song selection as well. :)

I've got

Pink Floyd : The Wall (25th aniversy addition)
Pink Floyd : Live In Pompeii (Director's Cut)
Classic Albums : The making of DSOTM

All three are great.

ok I think I will buy London Live 66-67 and Pulse, but do you think it would be better just to rent The Wall movie, Making of DSOTM, and Syd Barrett story? or would it actually be worth buying them and seeing them over and over

The Wall Movie is simply mindblowing but you really have to know the whole concept of The Wall really to actually understand the movie. I don't have the Making of DSOTM and Syd Barrett Story DVDs so I can't help ya there.

But if you really enjoy The Wall, then I would rent the movie first. But really, you should try to understand the concept of The Wall first which I'm sure you probably know what it's about already. Actually it tells you in the inner part of the DVD.

The Making of Dark Side is an incredible film. They broadcasted it in England on TV and it was really worth watching it. They show the guitar solos on their own and Rick Wright gives some tips on how to play some of the songs. The only downside is that they don't show how they made Any Colour You Like. They show On the Run though - very, very, good!!

I love Pink - July 14, 2006 05:19 AM (GMT)
