Title: Antonym Rite Of Olencia
Description: ........ egg.

Antonym Rite - July 16, 2006 04:55 PM (GMT)
Name: Antonym Rite of Olencia

Sex: Female

Age: 17

Occupation: Mini housewife/teamaker combo

Status & Rank:
None, though there is a teeny bit of noble blood of House Marlas

Roots & Origin:
Long ago, Antonym's great-great grandmother had a sweeping affair with a noble of House Marlas. They had a single love child then he was whisked away to become an Apprentice. Nothing of this distant link to the Marlas House is mentioned, though it is known to some of the family. The name Rite was kept by the male love-child and has been since. The family tree is updated as and when needed; the library boasts a family tree with over 50 members. Considering the tendency for couples to only bear a set of twins, this is quite far back. Antonym's father is odd in the fact that he has had 5 children, and none are twins (he himself is a twin.) Antonym is the middle child.

Ooh, part of the family tree! (starting from the Great-great grandmother)

Appearance:
Standing at about 5ft 6, Antonym has straight blonde hair that falls to her chest level. Her skin is rather pale and this contrasts with her brown-haired, darker skinned siblings. Her skin doesn't tan or burn, not without trying though. Her eyes are pale blue, as if a smokey grey veil has been pulled over them. They are narrow and slightly tilted, giving the impression that she is slightly displeased at her circumstances. This is accentuated by her full red lips which are often seen smirking slightly. Her nose is on the verge of being branded a button nose, making her face seem round and large.

Antonym often wears snug clothes, with flared sleeves and long skirts. Her figure is rather average, though she knows what attire makes her look good. Her clothes don't quite cling to her but they certainly aren't loose. They're usually shades of red or yellow though she owns a variety of coloured dresses. She co-ordinates her dress with her shoes, often short heels and usually knee-length leather, and her accessories. She likes to wear long earrings with cheap colourful jewels in them.

The young woman is often regarded as the prettier of the two daughters, though she isn't by all means strinkingly beautiful or particularly ravishing. She doesn't make people fall over staring at her and nobody has ever been captivated by her stunning looks. She is modest despite trying to look good, and doesn't flaunt herself onto other people. When it comes down to it Antonym doesn't use her looks to her advantage, knowing that beauty is skin deep and all that jazz.

Personality:
Antonym is the enquiring sibling, the one who asked the most questions as a child and likes to read. She's also quieter than her brothers and sister, making her the one who outsiders know the least about. She rarely talks about herself, preferring to talk about more trivial matters. She isn't one for small talk and only bothers asking how people are when she cares. Despite this she is a confident person and she enjoys conversations with the people she knows well. Her friends are true ones if not in abundance. She's a considerate woman who puts other people's needs before hers on a regular basis, though she makes up for it by going through selfish phases and thinking for herself. It depends on how she wakes up in the morning really.

She's a pretty placid person by nature, but Antonym gets riled up by her three pet hates: dirt, bullies and suffering of the weak. She's a do-gooder who will look after those who need help, a bit of a pushover in that respect. She could easily be duped by a child pretending to be hurt. This cheesy, noble quality makes her appear more compassionate than she really is, because in reality she doesn't really mind when those who deserve it have a fall. She's also less bothered about men - she's a bit of a feminist and if she had to she'd choose a female over a male. Young children and animals are spared this prejudice.

Despite not expressing her opinions unless asked and only to who she's comfortable with, Antonym has strong opinions on anything. She's not stupid, she looks at a scenario and gives her verdict whether she expresses it or not. Her expression can sometimes give away her feelings though she's well in check with her emotions and doesn't randomly shout out her opinions and defend her views. Everything she does is calculated beforehand and rarely spontanious. Thinking for herself is all well and good as long as it's not on the spot and under pressure.

Strengths:
Give Antonym a puzzle and she can solve it. She has a mindframe that's naturally attuned to solving puzzles. Her way of thinking things through and considering all possibilities makes her a good organiser too. Needless to say she's above average in intelligence, though not amazingly so. She's a quick study and could learn new things quickly, such as another instrument or anything that's not creative.

She's a good tea-maker?

She doesn't try to stand out. She can blend into a crowd quite easily, as long as it's not a group of commoners. She doesn't go against the grain, and goes with the flow. It doesn't mean she's content, but Antonym knows that sometimes it's easier to not stand out, to not draw any attention to oneself. There is such a thing as bad publicity and she respects the need to maintain the Rite family reputation of hardworkers.

Potentially she could be quite dextrous with a weapon or something. She's a practiced knitter and she's always been good with her hands. In the future this could be developed, ohmygee.

She's an efficient multitasker, this is apparently a trait of all Rite women though Antonym thinks this is true of all women and her dad is just embaressed that he can't do more than one thing at once. Working in the tea shop means she has to do more than one thing at one time, but even then she is analytical and consistent with her methodology.

Weaknesses:
She's too pedantic and analytical, preferring to stick to the rules and do what's right over what's necessary. If her father murdered, she'd hand him over to the authorities whether she wanted to or not, because that's what she should do. On the same note, she's not at all creative. She doesn't use metaphors or similes, she can't paint unless it's a landscape or something in front of her, she can only recite music rather than write it and she's as poetic as a duck. (Hey, i'm allowed to use similes! :3)

Antonym can come across as snooty, with her appearance and slightly inverted first impression. She doesn't look instantly likeable and people don't always give her the time of day to get to know her. Not that she minds.

Physically, she isn't very fit. She can stand for hours on end given her job, but she's no good at carrying heavy things and that sort of thing. If she gets less than 8 1/2 hours sleep every night she gets crabby; she's not a morning person at all.

Her lack of temper can, as long as bullying, dirt and suffering aren't included, make her a pushover when combined with her tendency to help people. People can tell her what to do and she won't bat an eyelid if it helps them. This doesn't mean she's gullible or naive, rather she's used to helping people and it's what she does best so she can be addressed in a variety of ways.

In affairs of the heart it's a case of can't and won't. She doesn't want to meet "the one", doesn't feel like being swept off her feet and in any case she's never really been passionate enough to fall in love. Falling in love is something that includes a fair bit of falling - Antonym prefers to keep her feet firmly on the ground, thank you very much. If anyone tried to win her over she wouldn't think of responding positively and would assume they were just overly friendly. To say she's fairly intelligent, she's got no idea when it comes to affection. Alas, she took of her rose-tinted spectacles as a young child and put in her contact lenses. Metaphorically speaking of course.

Magic:
She will hopefully be allowed to become an Apprentice through IC plotting? she's not strong, below average. Or average. Somewhere around there.

History:
Born Antonym Rite, the third of 5 children by Ingram Rite and the oldest of two daughters, her name is a variation of Antonie, the female version of Antony. The Rite house is a house of middling respect and wealth, enabling them to live in a decent, detached household in a fairly posh district of Olencia known as Pine Avenues. The place was, as the name suggests, covered in pine trees and bushes as if the houses were simply carved through the woodland and not shoved through. The Rite residence, known as Rite of Way (Ingram has a bad sense of humour), was owned for 7 years prior to her birth and only a year before the first child was born.

The mother, her name unknown to Antonym, died at the birth of the youngest daughter Bella. Since then Ingram has hired Nancy the Housekeeper to attend to the children's every need, with a cook and a cleaner under her command. She wasn't a mother figure, rather a full-time teacher. Antonym was, and is, what is called a "Daddy's girl" and whenever he returns from long trips away on business in the Marlas district (he did something with horses; she doesn't enquire) she is always happy to see him and spends as much time with him as possible. From an early age there was a set routine when Ingram was away. Breakfast at 8, the tutors came to the house at 9, they were taught thoroughly until 3, dinner was at 5 and the evening was theirs to enjoy as they pleased. If Father was home, then dinner would sometimes be at 6 and afterwards the children would try to impress Ingram with their new knowledge and skill with whatever creative instrument they chose, whether it be voice or art or poetry or an instrument. Antonym inherited her dad's stoic nature, and he was rarely moved by the performances (particularly the younger ones, as Bella was still learning how to rhyme and all that) but nonetheless they all tried their hardest. Nancy always told them it was important to impress their elders. Antonym pursued the art of playing the violin herself and always assumed her performance was the best.

This system was adopted until Antonym was 12. She used to enjoy reading outside, and became adept with the violin. Afternoons in the garden were lots of fun, after tea was over and all day at the weekend when there was no lessons whatsoever. She was and is close to her brothers and sister, particularly her only younger brother Garrin.

At 16 Antonym took it upon herself to earn some sort of living. She was fed up of lurking about doing nothing in particular and wanted to further her studies. She often went to the library to read, but that wasn't enough. Only, scholars asked for alot of money to teach what they knew. Antonym went to the tea shop around the corner and offered to help out 4 days a week. That way she could save for her own private education. It didn't take long for her to get to know the regulars, and she enjoyed/enjoys making tea for people. Suki's Teashop attracts people of middling wealth such as herself, well her father anyway. He was unwilling to pay for her tuition at a higher level, despite her two older brothers having left the house to make their own fortunes and no need for Nancy anymore.

Since then she has worked vigilantly at Suki's Tea Shop. And that's about it so far... *dun dun dun*

((The bio is short because there's room for character development? Erm. She's only 17. I'd like her to become an Apprentice in the near future.))

Just a few things - one, it is very unlikely that the male-love-child/slayer would be married and have children, though he could have children. The Slayers frown on that sort of thing... I'm not going to make you change anything, but something to think about. :P Slayers don't have husbands and wives all that often.

And two, why doesn't she know her mother's name?

Lastly, though you may want to ask Penril about this, if she does have a magical ability, the Slayers probably would have found her by now, if she's 19...

Did I put that it was a Slayer? I didn't mean to ^.^ no Slayer-love here. Antonym doesn't know her mother's name because she's never asked. She doesn't think about her at all, she's just the woman who happened to give birth to her. She doesn't really care.

About her magical-ness... well, maybe they just missed her? o.o If not i could drop her age a few years.

Oriana Lark - July 16, 2006 06:27 PM (GMT)
One or two years dropped would be good.

(And you might not have said that... I didn't get like any sleep last night, so my reading of bios is really crappy right now. I'm not comprehending much. :P)

Groovy, I can make her 17 without anything else needing to be changed.

No problem! I should clarify things really.

Thank you, approved.

You still need a link to your bio in your signature before I can approve you for roleplaying.
