Title: Outline For Your Application
Description: Please follow this!

This all applies to your character - not to you! Any questions may be personal messaged to an overlord or posted in the Support forum.

Name: Pick a reasonable name. In Olencia, there probably will not be characters named Sally or Bob. Also, remember that this should be your username. You need a first name and "of *insert your character's origin here*". You must also have a second name (like a middle name), used as a formal name. For example, let's say your character's name was Nicholan, and he was from the city of Haven. He would be named "Nicholan of Haven" and if you wanted him to have a second name (let's say it's Jay), his name would be "Nicholan Jay of Haven." His mother would call him "Nicholan", since she knows him well, but a stranger would call him "Nicholan Jay." Your username only has to be your character's first and second name. Do not put "of *insert origin here* in your username! They get too long!

Sex: Male or female only.

Age: Be reasonable and think about other character traits that you would like your character to have. Your character can't be a master swordsman and be 16, for example.

Occupation: What does your character do for a living?

Status & Rank: If applies to occupation or roots & origin. (Noble blood, etc.)

Roots & Origin: What part of Olencia is your character from? Include House and lineage here please. No characters may just appear out of thin air - they must all be from Olencia. Even if your character does not know his/her origin, YOU do, so make sure you write it. Characters with unknown origins will not be accepted. You can see the map and other information here.

Appearance: Describe your character's appearance in great detail here. Remember that your character's appearance must match your avatar. Think about things such as hair color & length, eye color, complexion, height, weight, build, etc. Also include how other people usually view your character and how your character feels about himself or herself, etc. This should even be from two to four paragraphs long.

Strengths: Please include at least four of your character's strengths.

Weaknesses: Please include at least SIX of your character's weaknesses. ((Why six? To avoid all powerful characters.))

Magic: Magic guidelines may be found here.

Personality: Describe your character's personality in great detail here. This also should be from two to four paragraphs long. You are describing a complex being here, so put some effort into it!

History: Explain your character's history here. Be descriptive. Include childhood, adulthood, etc. Speak of important relationships and events. (Note that this should be in descriptive form, not just certain scenes of his/her history.) This is expected to be long and informative. You definitely may not have an unknown history. Even if your character doesn't know some events in his/her past, you do, so write them!

Updates for Applicants

Okay, we've gotten a good amount of applications since the start of Olencia, and just some helpful hints on making a good character. :D

First of all, if you have no ideas, check the Playable Characters - these are characters that have been mentioned (usually in someone else's character chronicles) and would already have a place in some plots and in Olencia. These can be really fun to play, just because of all the plots. :D

Second, not everyone can have magic and be really strong. Think about it. How boring is that when almost every character has a crazy amount of power? Make your character unique!!!

ABSOLUTELY NO MORE ROGUE MAGIC USERS. I must stress how this almost never occurs. And yet, we somehow have several of them floating about Olencia. Most of the Slayers were kidnapped during their childhood by other Slayers to be trained - they have not suddenly had a change of heart. The Slayer faction is small, and hence, they need all the people they can get, especially since they lose a lot of their apprentices to the Dragonlands. And, yes, the Slayers will find these users. Your young, naive character is not going to be able to evade Slayer detection, trust me. And yes, your character is naive - there is no way that your character will have learned magic to the effective extent that a Slayer will not be able to detect it. The Slayers have been passing down knowledge for centuries. Your character's first hand experience is nothing compared to that.

If you are absolutely going to die if your character can't be a rogue magic user, send me a PM with your "business" plan. You have to sell it to me, because without some very good reasoning, and some very amazing plotting, it's going to be a big fat no. Be original.

The regulation of the Slayer faction, however, I will leave up to whomever is the Ablest (currently it's Penril, but that's going to change soon, for plotting reasons). However, realize that your character doesn't have to be a Slayer to be interesting. There are plenty of other talents and skills that your character could have besides magic.

We actually can still use a good amount of nobles from all of the houses. Commoners and the like are still fine, but nobility would be nice for plotting purposes (*hack* like when the king dies *hack*).

THE NO MORE LIST (Do not make your character any of these things. Or I'm going to freak out.)
  • A magic-user -- Okay, so some more *might* be accepted. But only if your bio is amazing, so I'd ask about it first if I were you, before you spend all that time.
  • MALORENERS (& people that knew Oriana Lark before the RP began) - unless you're planning on playing one of the Playable characters.
  • Thieves
Try for some nobles please! XD

NOTE FROM SEYIRA:
It would also be lovely if we could start seeing people from the different nations, rather than just from Olencia (the city). I realize a lot of action takes place in Olencia and the easiest way to be in Olencia is to have your character be from there, but wouldn't it be more fun if we came up with a reason for our non-Olencian character to be in Olencia?

Diversity is a good thing!
