Out of Character Rules - Failure to follow these rules will result in expulsion from the site.
- Respect all members of Olencia, be they new members, veteran members, overlords, etc. Even if the member is not respecting you, that does not give you verification for being disrespectful in return.
- If such a problem arises with another member, either take it up over the personal messaging system or bring it to the attention of an overlord.
- Please keep swearing in the Out of Character forums to a minimum. If possible, refrain from using foul language at all.
- Keep in mind that Olencia is rated PG13 or below, both in character and out of character. In accordance with this, please do not post anything inappropriate. Use your judgement. If you have a question about posting something, it's probably not appropriate.
- Respect what the overlords declare. If you feel that something is unfair, calmly bring it up with one of them. We are willing to work with you, so long as you are respectful and present your case in an intelligent way.
- Stay active both in character and out of character. Real life comes first, of course, so absences are most certainly allowed, but try to keep your roleplays going!
- Post a leave of absence if you are going to be away from the site for more than three days. (More on this later in the rules post.) If you decide to leave the site, please personal message one of the overlords to inform them. It is difficult for us to continue with an inactive character, especially when we are unsure if he/she is returning or not. A simple, "I'm leaving" will do.
- All members are required to have a signature and an avatar. (More on this later in the rules post.)
- Enjoy your roleplaying & community experience!
Leave of AbsencesIf you are going to be gone from the site for more than three days (i.e. you are gone for four days or more), please inform us by posting a leave of absence in the
Leave of Absences forum. If you are absent for two weeks or more without posting a Leave of Absence, there is no guarantee that your character will still be in existence. Your account may be deleted.
As to whether or not you can return - we'd love to have you back, but once your character is gone, it is gone. If your character has been killed off, there is no chance of salvaging him/her. If your character has just been missing in action, you must come up with a good reason why this is so. Otherwise, we'd invite you to return as a different character.
AvatarsEvery member
must have an avatar that is an accurate representation of his/her character. This means that your avatar picture must correspond with your description of your character's physical appearance. Anything above a PG13 rating is
not allowed. Nudity is definitely not allowed. If you decide to use the picture of anything non-human (with the exception of those characters that are half-elven), make sure that non-human parts cannot be seen. If your avatar is already employed by another member, you may not also use it.
Please also keep in mind when you search for an avatar that some artists do not like their works being used for avatars. Be sure to ask permission.
Some links to places where avatars can be found are listed below. If you need more help, post in the Support forum.
SignaturesAll members are required to have a signature to roleplay. The
only thing that is required to be in all members' signatures is a link to his/her character chronicles. A simple link can be used below.
