Title: About Copyright

Thanks to shadow for this useful info.

I've read through GW's copyright section thoroughly a couple of times and a load of my friends at uni do law and I've asked them about any stuff I didn't understand.

Basically the main thing GW doesn't want is people copying their work and materials and then passing it off as their own with no mention of GamesWorkshop anywhere. The thing they get rilled about the most is when people try and nick their themes and fluff that 40k and warhammer worlds are based in.

Now since GW is mentioned with great regualrity on this site and whenever we tend to use something of their's like the table of allies we say we got it from WD so and so. As long as you dont try to pass that list of as your own there is no infingement of copyright law.

Gamesworkshop would never ever make the sort of stuff that goes on on this website illegal for 2 reasons.
1 firstly because of the limitations of copyright law it would be very difficult if not impossible.
2 it would kill the hobby if no gamers were allowed to discuss the hobby. In this respect they encourage the sort of stuff that happens on this forum because it generates greater awarness of the hobby and that ultimatly makes them more money which they want to keep happening.
