Yes if defending a fortress or something similiar.
Other times; no.
Especially *not* with spawning of sotek.
I think Spears look cool, thats pretty much the only reason ive put them on some of my units. Especially the Lizzie spears, but thats not a good enough reason to be using them in an actual battle (pitched).
Well, if I dont have to pay extra points for getting them, I'd think about it...
