Title: Skink / Weaponry Question
Description: exchange weapons?

Conquatoc - April 13, 2006 07:35 PM (GMT)
In the army book, it states that skinks can exchange blow dart for javelin/shield at no additional cost.

Does this mean during battle, or just that neither weapons will cost more when buiding the army?

Im new to Warhammer Fantasy, so Im not sure if I can give them blowpipe and a hand weapon? or what? haha, geeez I need to get into the core book pretty harshly.

Yes reading the core rulebook is helpfull. All units come with a handweapon. Skinks also come with blowpipes wich can be exchanged for javelins and shields when you creat your army list. There is no exchanging blowpipes for javelins durring a battle, only before a battle when you make your list.

Yes, so it's either blowpipes and handweapon, or javelin and shield.. not both.

Technically Javelin, shield and hanbd weapon, as you cannot use a javelin in close combat

Aye, that would be correct.

Oooooookay. that threw me off. As Im modelling my skinks... "but they ALL have handweapons..." when thinking it was javelin + shield, NO hand weapon

haha...thanks muchly :)

Can someone clarify something for me...

Skinks - do we pay the penalty of -1 for multiple shots? Also, do we pay a penalty for moving and shooting? Bpipes and Javs?

Can someone tell me how to effectively use both of these weapons...I'm having trouble.

Thanks,

Javelins don't have a penalty for moving and shooting or shooting at long range so you'll pretty much always be rolling 4+.

With blow pipes you get penalties
-1 for long range (6-12")
-1 for moving and shooting
-1 for double shots

You only want at most -2, so if you are long range and you moved, don't so double shots. This is to get full effect of the poison rule. If you either are short ranged, or didn't elect to move go ahead and do double shots.

What Krell saidm is pretty much the run down. Theres been long arguments over at some other lizzie forums about javelins versus blowpipes, but it depends on how you play and composition and stuff, usually I go with both.
