Title: Kroq-Gar
Description: Anyone who used him???

Kai-Tza - February 22, 2006 08:02 PM (GMT)
B) Anyone who has used Kroq-Kar and if did you think he was good??

Enoshima - February 22, 2006 08:29 PM (GMT)
the one time I've used him, I screwed up my tactics, causing him to die in the first round of combat with a chaos mage on a dragon.

but then the carnosaur kicked in and killed the dragon in return, ultimate predator and I rolled 2 sixes(only 2 attacks hit), the carny's strength was also enough to say bye bye to scaly skin save.

his hand of gods really sucked, its range is IMO too little to really be helpfull.

LordMazdamundi - February 22, 2006 08:30 PM (GMT)
I screwed up my Krog-gar battle too. It's hard to get him fighting a unit with backup.

Kai-Tza - February 22, 2006 08:54 PM (GMT)
 Ok so none of had any succes with him. :D

Enoshima - February 22, 2006 08:56 PM (GMT)
Mine was just simply a case of wrong choice.

what I did was move him forward between 3 opponents units (1 mage lord on dragon, a unit of chaos warriors and a unit containing archaeon) and wanted to use the hand, only the freekin' unit of warriors was within range, next turn the lord on dragon charged me, killing kroq in no time.

the thing I should've done was charge the lord on dragon, it was in charge range and I knew it, only I chose to use the hand..... stupid hand of gods

so kroq himself didn't even see combat, but still it got it's points back by killing the dragon, breaking the lord and then killing one of the knights that acompanied archaeon

EDIT:
@Kai-Tza well, his carny killed some stuff, and I'm pretty positive that kroq would have killed the lord too, if I had charged it.
Even though kroq died first turn, his carny did very good things.

those 6 attacks from a frenzied grymloq can really hurt, especially to large targets.

Kai-Tza - February 22, 2006 09:15 PM (GMT)
:P Yeah I think a frenzied Grymloq can make some damage  But when you fight against a Dragon you wont get the charge so often but if you get the charge im sure that kroq-kar would kill him. :)

I have the model the Oldblood on carnosaur but have never used Kroq-Gar in a battle, just because I dont really like him, I prefer my saurus lord. Fair enough Gar has some nice rules and his carnosaur starts off with 5 attacks but still, I just dont like him. TBH neither of the Lizardman special characters are any good.

Gregor - February 23, 2006 08:01 PM (GMT)
my battle with him he kicked arse in it i was playing ok and had lost every thig but him and his unit of cavand a block of sarus. He charged a unit of bulls with tyrant almost killed them all then he was flank charged by another unit of bulls with charachter and the special charachter buthchter. In the end killied off everyone with help of the sarus block. However the spacial charachter had one wound left.

Kai-Tza - February 24, 2006 05:30 PM (GMT)
:o Impressive but you know that ogres aren't large targets (i just wonder)?

Gregor - February 24, 2006 06:16 PM (GMT)
yes i am fully aware of this he just kicked their arse anyway

they so should be large targets though

Kai-Tza - February 24, 2006 06:44 PM (GMT)
;) Then Kroxigors and minatours should be it too!!

hatchet_warrior - February 27, 2006 03:43 PM (GMT)
I've used him alot and I love him. The 2+ ward is godlike. There is nothing better than making a unit of 20 goblins run away from 3 wounds. Trust me he is worth it in a 200pt game.

what do you mean? Kroq Gar has got no ward save of 2+. Maybe you confused him with Lord Kroak? Anyways, I've never used him, but to me, he looks pretty powerful, especially the hand. With the Hand, you can keep him in cover the first turn, do some damage in the second turn with the Hand and charge on the third.
Does anyone know, if it's alowed to let him join a unit of Cold one riders (I just thought, it would be a very brutal unit with the Huanchi-totem)?

Tehenhauin, Prophet Of Sotek - February 27, 2006 09:20 PM (GMT)
yes he can join a unit of coldone riders! OF course he can!

Kai-Tza - February 27, 2006 10:30 PM (GMT)
:o Can he??? Where is the rule that tells you that he can do that??? :P

Gyulkus_chaos_saurus - February 27, 2006 11:01 PM (GMT)
in the rulebook, he could join saurus or skinks if you want!

philleehellphia - February 28, 2006 01:03 AM (GMT)
Actually, I have great experience with Kroq-Gar. I have about a 4-5k Kroq-Gar army, and it is deadly. I usually massacre or draw my opponent. I love having cavalry that's somewhat cheap so I can contend with High Elves, Chaos and Wood Elves.

Kai-Tza - February 28, 2006 08:53 AM (GMT)
 In the rulebook: A character riding a monster can't join a unit. :P

Tehenhauin, Prophet Of Sotek - February 28, 2006 07:37 PM (GMT)
awww oh well ill keep telling people he can anyway (everyone at my gaming club doesn't mind)

Kai-Tza - February 28, 2006 09:07 PM (GMT)
B) Yeah I think he should be able to join cold one riders but he can't

Cheap? well, I wouldn't call 35 points cheap! In fact, I think, it's rather a lot of points. Okay, it is not too much for, what they can do, but in fact, I like the Dark elf Cold one riders better. They can take more damage with a 2+ armorsave and they are cheaper, so you have more unit strength and auto-break even faster. I think, COR should have two handed weapons :D . That would be AWSOME!

Thers just one tiny problem with that: The bonus for two hand weapons is only for models on foot and COR are cavalry...
Anyways,I think Kroq-Gar is fine, though I would prefer him to have a shield instead of that hand as I dont think a saurus should shoot.

Kai-Tza - March 2, 2006 07:11 PM (GMT)
:o He said 2 handed weapons not 2 hand weapons!!!

 :( :(

My bad, he has the 5+ ward with the auto S5 hit.

Uh... Yeah they can.... He can't join Infantry, but he sure can join a Unit of Cold One Riders.

Wow, 2+ Ward Save, big whoop. A weapon that dosen't count ward saves can easily cut through Cold One Knights. Plus, Dark Elves have T3, that's a downside already.

Kai-Tza - March 11, 2006 08:22 AM (GMT)
A character on foot can join a unit of infantary or form a unit with another character on foot, A character riding a "steed" can join other units of "cavalary" or form a unit with another character riding a "steed", A character riding a monster can't join any unit and 2 characters riding monster can't form a unit with each other!!!!
